Apple’s 8-inch Foldable iPhone Incoming…

The iPhone 8 Plus takes up more room in your hand and your pocket than the iPhone 11. But is this necessarily a bad thing?

Obviously, this will depend entirely on your own personal tastes. Me personally, I never found Apples iPhone 8 Plus too unwieldy. I like its design, despite its age, and I think it still delivers a ton of value even today, in 2020.

And the phone itself is now very affordable like, less than $300 via Gazelle.

How Is The iPhone 8 Plus Bigger Than iPhone 11

Its actually pretty simple the iPhone 11 does not have a home button Apple did away with the home button on the iPhone X, adding in FACE ID for unlocking and a notch to house the sensors that power it.

This means all iPhones save for the iPhone SE 2020 released after the iPhone X have larger displays but overall smaller bodies.

The iPhone 8 Plus still uses TouchID and a home button and this technology do take up a fair amount of space at the bottom of the phone .

Removing this button frees up almost an inch of space and allows for smaller phones with thinner designs. And that is why the iPhone 8 Plus, despite having a smaller display than the iPhone 11, is still a bigger phone with respect to height, width, and overall thickness.

So What Does Your $200

The iPhone X uses the same A11 Bionic chip with 64-bit architecture, Neural engine, and Embedded M11 motion coprocessor as the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. So your $200-300 is not getting you a faster processor.

It is getting you more screen size in less space than the 8 Plus. It is getting you more screen resolution, in that smaller space. It is getting you higher quality images as OLED technology.

It’s also getting you a substantially improved front-facing camera that’s a huge boon to selfie fans.

And, depending on whether you consider this a benefit or a shortcoming, you’re getting Face ID and losing the Home button and Touch ID.

iPhone 8 Vs iPhone 8 Plus: The Main Differences Between Apple’s 2017 Flagships

If you’re eyeing Apple’s 2017 flagship phones, here’s which one you should pick.

If you’re looking for a new iPhone at the lowest price possible, the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus from 2017 are viable options. Though Apple discontinued selling them, you can still nab the devices from third-party retailers like Walmart and Best Buy. Prices will vary depending on the retailer and the phone’s model and capacity, but from what we’ve seen so far, the iPhone 8 averages about $350 and the iPhone 8 Plus averages about $450. You can get them refurbished for about $100 less.

Unlike current iPhones, the iPhone 8 phones sport an intuitive home button and familiar design. If those are the main draw for you though, we suggest the iPhone SE 2020. Like the iPhone 8, it doesn’t have a headphone jack, but as the newer phone, it has better hardware, more software support and a more robust Apple return policy and trade-in value.

Who Should Get The 55

Renewed 64GB iPhone 8 Plus with 5.5

If you want an iPhone that’s much bigger and feels it, but that offers a ton more pixels, better camera, and longer battery life even if it doesn’t fit in every pocket or isn’t as easy to use one-handed, then go for iPhone 6s Plus.

In other words, if you want a phone that’s also a tiny tablet, that’s iPhone 6s Plus.

Bluetooth Nfc And Gps

Support for the new Bluetooth 5.0 standard is built into the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. Bluetooth 5.0 offers four times the range, two times the speed, and eight times the broadcast message capacity compared to the previous Bluetooth 4.2 standard.

In addition to the Global Positioning System operated by the U.S. government, the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus add support for Galileo, Europe’s Global Satellite Navigation System, and QZSS, the Quasi-Zenith Satellite System used in Japan.

Galileo support in the new iPhones allows users to benefit from more precise positioning that’s able to combine GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo signals. Galileo, says the agency, has a modern signal structure that’s able to help users better maintain their position fix when navigating through cities worldwide.

As for NFC, there’s a new NFC chip with reader mode support that lets the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus read NFC tags installed in places like retail stores, museums, and more.

Focus On Pixel Dimensions

When you upload a photo to a printing company, theyll want to know what the pixel dimensions are. This is the 4000 x 2000 number referenced above.

Once you provide the pixel dimensions to the printer, they can figure out how large the print can be. So, if you want to know how big you can print iPhone photos, the answer is in the photos pixel dimensions.

For example, if you wanted a 16 x 20 print of a photo of your child, the image would need to be at least 900 x 1200 pixels, assuming that the minimum dots per inch is 60.

DPI refers to the output resolution of the print. Its determined by dividing the longest length of the image in pixels by the length of the image in inches.

So, using our 900 x 1200 image we want to print at 16 x 20, we get the following: 1200/20 = 60.

Get more information about DPI in the video above by Matt Borchert.

Quick Tip: Many photo printers upscale the DPI to a much higher number for printing purposes. This is done using advanced software that increases the resolution and de-pixelates images after they have been enlarged. The result is a larger print with good detail from a smaller file size. Which One Should You Buy: The iPhone X Or iPhone 8 Plus

Last year was the first time that Apple didnt just launch a new iPhone in two different sizes, but two completely different iPhone models instead.

The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus continue the tradition of the iPhone 6 and 7, as well as the Plus models, by including popular and now classic iPhone features such as the Retina display and Home button. The second model launched by Apple was the spectacular iPhone X, in which many things have changed.

The iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X are somewhat similar but they also have some pronounced differences. So, which one should you buy? Weve put together a list of things to make the choice easier for you.

iPhone 11 Pro Max: 65 Inch Screen

iPhone X vs iPhone Plus Screen Size! (5.8 inch vs 5.5 inch) Does It Make A Difference?

Apple saved the biggest for last. The iPhone 11 Pro Max clocks in with a screen that measures 6.5 inches diagonally, with a height of 6.22 inches, width of 3.06 inches, depth of .32 inches, and full weight of 7.97 inches.

This screen is actually identical in size to that of the iPhone XS Max, making the 11 Pro Max tied for first place as the iPhone model with the largest screen to date.

Just like the new iPhone 11 Pro, the 11 Pro Max also has the high-quality OLED display. The super retina XDR display that’s shared with the 11 Pro is reportedly the highest pixel density display in Apple’s product repertoire.

How To Measure Your Apple iPhone Screen Size

The screen size does not affect the quality of an iPhone, but it is important to note a few parameters like the iPhone display size, which is the measure of the diagonals of the phone screen in inches. Another consideration is the iPhone screen size, which is the size the device uses for coordinates, and it is useful when using CSS and JavaScript. iPhone rendered pixels are the complete number of pixels rendered, and it is the value when the multiplier is applied to the screen size in points. Finally, the iPhone physical pixel is the resolution of the screen.

iPhone 12 Vs iPhone 8 Battery And Charging

It’s hard to compare battery life between older and newer iPhones, in part because Apple never reveals the size of the batteries it inserts in its phones. Teardowns suggest the iPhone 8 had an 1,821 mAh power pack while the iPhone 8 Plus used a 2,675 mAh battery.

When we ran both phones through our battery test in 2017, the iPhone 8 turned in a slightly above-average result, while the iPhone 8 Plus held out for 11 hours. That would be good enough for either one to still land on our best phone battery life list, which we limit to phones released in the last year-and-a-half.

Strictly speaking, the iPhone 12 doesn’t measure up, lasting 8 hours and 25 minutes on a test the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus both aced. Not surprisingly given its smaller battery, the iPhone 12 mini fared worse, petering out before the 7.5 hour mark.

The culprit for the iPhone 12’s disappointing battery result? Besides that 6.1-inch OLED panel, we’d point the finger at 5G. When we turned off 5G and ran the same test over LTE, the iPhone 12 held out for 10 hours and 23 minutes â nearly two hours better.

The iPhone 8 was the first Apple phone to support wireless charging, and that’s continued with the iPhone 12. But Apple’s phones have now added support for MagSafe wireless charging, in which magnet-equipped chargers attach to the back of the phone for a more reliable charge. More importantly, MagSafe supports 15W wireless charging speeds, faster than the 7.5W supported through conventional charging pads.

How Do The Cameras Compare

iPhone X vs iPhone 8 vs iPhone 8 Plus : Quick Comparison

Moving on to the camera quality offered by the iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus, it is important to note that despite the advances made by other Android competitors in this realm, Apple has chosen to retain much of the hardware specifications that could be found in the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

The iPhone 8 comes with a single 12-megapixel camera with a wide-angle sensor, f/1.8 aperture, and optical image stabilization. The digital zoom goes up to 5x and the camera comes with True Tone flash with slow sync.

The iPhone 8 Plus offers the same hardware as the iPhone 7 Plus when it comes to the camera with dual 12-megapixel Wide and Telephoto cameras. The Wide offers f/1.8 aperture and optical image stabilization, while the telephoto camera comes with a lower f/2.8 aperture and no optical image stabilization. The low light performance of the camera can be affected by this. The iPhone 8 Plus offers 2x optical zoom and digital zoom up to 10x, as well as True Tone flash with slow sync.

The front camera of both the models is practically the same at 7-megapixels with f/2.2 aperture, Retina flash and auto HDR for photos.

Currently The iPhone 11 Pro Max Has The Biggest Screen Of Any iPhone

But for the biggest iPhone screen around, you need to go a bit past the iPhone 11 and get an iPhone 11 Pro Max, which has a screen that’s 6.5 inches on the diagonal. This length ties the iPhone XS Max in diagonal display, but the iPhone 11 Pro Max measures 6.22 inches tall and is 3.06 inches wide compared to the iPhone XS Max’s 6.20 inch height and 3.05 inch width.

If that’s a bit large for you but you still want crazy good processing power and cameras, the iPhone 11 Pro has a 5.8 inch screen measured on the diagonal, and it still has the same processing power, display clarity, and those three cameras that the mighty iPhone 11 Pro Max boasts.

What iPhone Screen Size Should You Get: 4

Apple is now fielding fully modern iPhones in three separate sizes. There’s the 4-inch iPhone SE, the 4.7-inch iPhone 6s, and the 5.5-inch iPhone 6s Plus. On one end you have maximum portability and, on the other, maximum productivity. Which ones is best will depend entirely on what you want to do with it. So, let’s break it own!

Why 47 Inches Is The Perfect Screen Size For The Next iPhone

If Apple makes the jump to a larger screen size for a future iPhone, the Moto X’s 4.7-inch display seems optimal.

Whenever we do a poll about what new features people would like to see most in a new iPhone, the No. 1 vote getter always seems to be “bigger screen” followed by “better battery life.”

With the iPhone 5, the iPhone’s screen did get bigger — or at least longer — but it’s still not big enough for some folks, who are drawn to the more-spacious displays found on competing Android models, led by the Samsung Galaxy S4, which sports a 5-inch screen, compared with the iPhone 5’s 4-inch screen.

The question, of course, is, just how big should the iPhone’s screen be, or more broadly speaking, what’s the optimal screen size for a smartphone?

Well, while Motorola’s new Moto X may not measure up to the Samsung Galaxy S4, and the HTC One in terms of raw performance and screen resolution, after playing around with it for a few days, I think its 4.7-inch screen size is pretty ideal in the context of the overall design of the phone.

The Moto X is slightly taller and a bit wider than the iPhone 5. It also weighs 0.63 ounce, or 18 grams more.

iPhone 5 : 4.87 inches x 2.31 inches x 0.30 inch 3.95 ounces

Moto X : 5.09 inches x 2.57 inches x 0.41 inch 4.58 ounces

Galaxy S4 : 5.38 x 2.74 x 0.31 inch 4.6 ounces

Galaxy S4 Mini : 124.6 x 61.3 x 8.9mm 4.91 x 2.41 x 0.35 in 3.77 ounces

As Goldilocks might say, it seems just right.

Choose The Right File Format

When uploading a photo to a printer, youll want to choose the right format for retaining as much file size as possible while still adhering to the printers upload specifications.

Most commonly, photos are uploaded in JPG format, but its important to know that the quality of JPG images can vary widely depending on the output you select in programs like Photoshop.

Though most images dont need to be 50-megapixels for a quality print to be made, they shouldnt be uploaded in their smallest form, either.

Is The iPhone 8 Or 8 Plus A Better Value

In terms of pricing, Apple has made the base models a little more expensive than the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus when they released, but the 256 GB model remains unchanged. The main reason why many people could consider upgrading to the iPhone 8 or the iPhone 8 Plus is that these smartphones are significantly cheaper than the iPhone X or the ones that were released after it. As more and more models are released by Apple, the price of the iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus is expected to drop as well.

With the iPhone X, XS and the variants of 11 crossings into the four-figure category in terms of pricing, the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus seem like the more affordable options in front of buyers right now. Both these phones work along with the similar design parameters as the 7 and 7 Plus, which has led to many people arguing that they should have been named 7S and 7S Plus instead, but there have been newer additions that make the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus good smartphones. You can choose the iPhone 8 if you prefer small form phones and want to save some money, but the iPhone 8 Plus is the superior phone in terms of camera quality, battery life, and performance.
