SafariRefresh: Enable Pull to Refresh for Web Pages in Your Safari Web Browser for iOS 8

Probably the easiest and fastest way to get rid of the cache on your iPhone is to reinstall the application. Reinstalling every app might take a long time, so you can view how much space is taken up by each app and reinstall only the biggest so-called space eaters. For this, go to Settings General Storage & iCloud Storage Manage Storage.

If you compare the sizes of the apps with their original sizes in iTunes, you will see how many temporary files the apps have created while you were using the application. From our experience the Photos applications take up a whole lot of space, so keep reading to find a solution for this issue as well.

Delete the most rapacious apps and install them again. As we showed you in the screenshot above, the original size of the Facebook app is 175 MB, and over time it created the whole 475.5 MB of temporary files known as cache files.

How Can I Refresh Ios Homescreen Pwa On App Reopen

I have created a PWA which is validated by the Google Chrome Lighthouse audit tool. On Android Phones the native “Add to Homescreen” prompt is displayed and on iOS, a custom “Add to Homescreen” prompt is shown.

The problem is that on iOS the PWA saves the session and I am not redirected to the “start_url”.

I need an option to always direct users to the “start_url” if they close the app and reopen it afterward.

    Here are the PWA files:

I have tried mentioned in the PWA documentation, however, I was not able to get the App to refresh every time it is restarted.

The complete code can be found here:

The expected result should be that the application redirects to a different HTML page after 5 seconds & once the app is closed and relaunched the “start_url” should be reopened.

What happens at the moment is the following:

  • I open the “timesheet.html” document & I am prompted to add the PWA to the home screen.
  • I add the app to the home screen.
  • I open the app from the home screen & I am redirected to “redirect.html”.
  • I close the app & reopen it but the “start_url” is not opened.
  • The app is stuck on the “redirect.html” screen.

Moving the new address and tab bar to the bottom of the screen, and making it sort of auto-hide when you scroll, is the kind of interface upheaval that slaps you in the face.

    Jason Cross/IDG

Obviously, Apple thinks this is a good idea, but it does more than just defy conventionits entirely different from all the browsers ever used by a billion people going backforever. Safari on iPadOS 15 and macOS Monterey, which also bring many Safari changes, keep the address and tab bar at the top, and even Samsung, which pushed all of the menu icons to the bottom of the screen after its One UI refresh, kept its address bar at the top of the screen.

Maybe Apple thought that users thumbs cover the bottom of the screen when you browse on a phone, and moving more of the interface there would allow you to see more of the web page. I think the auto-hiding feature could take care of most of that.

How To Clear Your Browser Cache

    by WEBDOGSAugust 8, 2019

The WEBDOGS Platform Stack implements enterprise caching to make our partners websites blazing fast. Caching makes browsers fast by storing static files on your computer, eliminating the need to download new files with every pageload.

However, locally stored files can get out of sync, specifically in times of active development. The most common files to get out of sync are CSS and JavaScript files, which control the visual design and interactivity, respectively. When WEBDOGS reports that changes have occurred on a website, yet youre not seeing those changes, its very likely the files on your computer are out of date and need to be refreshed.

There are three primary strategies to refresh locally stored files:

  • Reload, which is a non-destructive operation and resolves about 85% of file synchronization issues.
  • Clearing cached files, which deletes all locally stored browser files including CSS, JavaScript, and images.
  • Private / Incognito / InPrivate browsing which creates an entirely new browser window with no data at all, as if you just opened a browser on a brand new computer.
  • Engaging in the cache clearing strategies in the specified order is actually quite important. For instance, knowing that a regression is present after clearing cache but not when looking Private is a critical piece of information that would help the WEBDOGS team resolve any discrepancy more quickly.

With all that said, heres the WEBDOG guide to clearing your browser cache.

Safari On Mac: How To Refresh A Page

Recently, I made the move from a Windows 10 computer to a MacBook Pro running MacOS. What a shift it has been! While the move has been relatively easy, I had to learn quite a few new things here and there.

One of the main recurrent keyboard shortcuts I used on Windows was the F5 function-key to refresh a webpage in the browser. However, on MacOS, there is no such key. For me, I then simply hit the refresh button manually in the browser window. But, this takes time and becomes annoying quite fast. What is the keyboard shortcut on Mac to refresh a Safari page? What is the equivalent F5 keyboard shortcut that I used to use on Windows?

The answer is luckily relatively simple, although on Mac you have to press a key combination instead of 1 single key.

    Regretfully, no.

Here is a way you can follow:

  • From the iPhone main menu, select “Settings” and then “Safari”.
  • Scroll down to the bottom of the screen. There will be three options for you to choose from: “Clear History”, “Clear Cookies”, and “Clear Cache”. You can simply clear all three by tapping each of them once and confirming the deletion
  • You can also clear your browsing history directly from the Safari browser. Start Safari and select “Bookmarks” at the bottom of the screen. Navigate to the history section and select it.
  • Your internet history should then appear on the screen. You can then clear out the history by selecting “clear” at the bottom of the screen. It will then ask you to confirm “clear history”.
  • I hope this helps
