I am sure all that is true, but Im just as sure that the biggest contributor is simply that the batteries are bigger than last year.
The 13 Pro has an 11 percent larger battery, and the 13 Pro Maxs battery is an astonishing 18.5 percent larger. Apples quoted improvements over the 12 Pro models are one and a half hours more usage on the 13 Pro and two and a half hours on the 13 Pro Max and the 12 Pro Max was already a battery life monster.

Ive only had the phones for a little less than a week, so I focused most of my use on the smaller iPhone 13 Pro as a kind of worst-case test. And my results are in line with Apples claims. On a day when we really pushed the phone with lots of 4K video and max brightness on the screen, it still lasted from early morning to 11PM with 20 percent remaining with somewhere north of four hours of very heavy use in the screen time tracking app. A day with less intense usage clocked me at seven hours of screen on time before the low battery warning kicked in.

In our battery test, the iPhone 13 Pro Max streamed a continuous video at full screen brightness for a whopping 20 hours and 18 minutes. That’s about four hours longer than the iPhone 13 Pro, and about six hours longer than the standard iPhone 13 in the same test.

Arun Maini today shared a new iPhone battery life test on his YouTube channel Mrwhosetheboss, timing how long all four iPhone 13 models last on a single charge compared to older iPhone models. Maini said all of the iPhones had 100% battery health and were set to an equivalent brightness, and each iPhone was subjected to the same usage.
While the test is not scientific, and might not perfectly reflect real-world usage, the video still provides us with a good idea of how the new iPhone 13 models stack up to previous generations in terms of battery life.
The winning device in the test was the iPhone 13 Pro Max, which achieved an impressive 9 hours and 52 minutes of battery life with continuous usage. Maini said this is the longest battery life of any iPhone that he has ever tested.

The iPhone 13 Pro Max is that rare phone that gets a 5-star rating from us. You get superior cameras and video recording capabilities including the very compelling Cinematic mode and macro mode blistering performance and a very responsive 120Hz display. Plus, the battery life is even better this time around and among the best weve seen from a 5G flagship.
I also appreciate the slightly better 3x optical zoom and 15x digital zoom on the iPhone 13 Pro Max, the brighter screen and the slightly smaller notch. But I wish Apple could deliver faster charging, and Id like to see a sleeker design next time around with the iPhone 14 with less of a camera bump and perhaps full-screen look.
