If youre looking for a wireless charger that you know will garner official support from Apple, then the Mophie Wireless Charging Base and the Belkin Boost Up Wireless Charging Pad are your best bets. That said, both are super expensive, and dont offer much more than an does right now.

Theres also next years release of Apples AirPower wireless charging accessory. AirPower will allow you to charge your iPhone, AirPods, and Apple Watch simultaneously on the same surface. Scheduled to land sometime in 2018, price details have yet to be revealed, but you can be sure that it will cost more than Belkins or Mophies third-party offerings.

iPhone 8 Wireless Charging

As Ive mentioned a few times in previous posts I love the convenience of wireless charging. The market however is in a state of complete and utter chaos, and Apple has done nothing to make things better, and in ways made things worse. the iPhone 8 apparently supports 7.5W wireless charging. But what does that even mean? Is that input wattage to the coil, input wattage to the phone? Apple itself, today do not even offer an official charge pad, apparently one is coming in the new year. We are already 3 months past the release of the iPhone 8, come on Apple get your ducks in a row.

So Ive been trying to sort that out. The plethora of options available on Amazon and other places is dizzying. A fact made worse by the fact that chargers attempt to be a broad product with support for multiple phones. Reading specs from the products, if they even bother giving them isnt helpful either. Reading reviews from other people go into more detail about the nice light or the physicals of the charger Vs the details of its charge speed, or heaven forbid actual details. I really wish I could find a wireless charger for the iPhone 8, that included a power adapter, and came right out and said that it support the iPhone 8s 7.5W.

As in the past be careful you get a multi coil charger or you have to get the phone on exactly the right place to get it to charge.

Heres a table of the data:

iPhones That Support Wireless Charging

iPhone 8 to come with wireless charging Techlist

The iPhone models that support wireless charging feature glass backs, which enable their receiver coils to connect with a charging pads induction coil.

You can, however, install a protective cover on your iPhone and still take advantage of wireless charging. Avoid cases that store items with magnetic strips or RFID chips, like credit cards, passports, hotel keys, and so on, as the recharging process could damage their functionality. Either remove these items before you charge your phone or use a different protective cover.

Thick cases and covers might also be problematic. If charging doesnt start automatically, remove the case, and try again.

The following iPhones are compatible with wireless charging:

  • iPhone 11 Pro Max
  • iPhone 11 Pro

Unless Apple introduces a new method of charging, future iPhones should also include wireless charging.

Azroic Fast Wireless Charger

Azroic Fast Charger made it to the list of best wireless chargers for iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus is because of the noise-free cooling fan that it features. There are two reinforced coils and a cooling fan that enables the Azroic charger to charge your iPhone 1.5 times faster than the other chargers. The cooling fan would work only when the Azroic is fast charging. The two big coils enable you to charge your phone horizontally or vertically. A green LED light indicates your phone is charging and once the charge is complete it will turn off. The charger has been developed to detect any foreign bodies, protect the device from any short circuits and control the temperature too. Any phone case with a thickness of 4 mm is permissible but thicker ones should be removed before charging. A QC 2.0 or 3.0 adapter work best for this charger. You can buy the wireless charger for $24.99 only.

iPhone Wireless Charging In Your Gmc

The charger is compatible with the universal Qi standard. All Qi-enabled smartphones including the iPhone 8 and iPhone X can be charged directly from the charging mat, except for larger phablet size devices like the iPhone 8 Plus and Samsung S8 Plus which wont fit. For iPhone X, 8 and 8 Plus model compatibility in 2017 range and earlier models please visit Apple Support here.

Apple iPhone models prior to the iPhone 8 will need a wireless charging accessory, and GMC recommends the Aircharge range of Made for iPhone Wireless Charging Cases to enable these devices to work with Qi chargers.

Does iPhone 7 Support Wireless Charging

Apple AirPower uses Qi as do most of the other wireless charge pads. If you are wondering, whether or not iPhone 7 plus is Qi-enabled, it is. However, it is just a misnomer.

Like previous iPhones, iPhone 7 also comes with an Apple standard charging port, through which you can charge your iPhone. Although, you can charge your iPhone 7 via a base station wireless charger by enabling Qi mode, do remember that both devices have inductive charging cases. It means you will have to put your iPhone on the base station of the wireless charger to get your iPhone 7 charged.

The wireless chargers base consists of an electrical inductive coil that works well to charge the iPhone. It means you wont need a cable anymore.

However, before you go and try your luck by putting your iPhone 7 on the Qi wireless charger, ensure that you have a Qi-supported case for your phone. Apple has not yet invented any, but you can get it from third-party companies like Mophie. It is one of the most popular brands known to manufacture cases with built-in Charge Force technology. These cases are designed to support inductive electrical power transfer, which makes them effective for any wireless base station charger.

Therefore, if you want to wirelessly charge your iPhone 7, you have to get a Qi-supported case for it. Moreover, the best thing about these cases is that they can withstand fall and shock.

Samsung Wireless Charging Pad

For our money, the charging pad with the best quality-for-cost ratio is Samsung’s standard charging pad. Although it was crafted with Samsung devices in mind, it’s still a fantastic, relatively-low-cost option for iPhone owners.

The pad is small enough to fit on modestly-sized nightstands or crowded office desks, and since it’s available in both white and black, you can choose the model that more closely matches your aesthetic.

Since wireless charging requires your phone to be carefully placed on a pad, we really appreciated the rubber ring on the top of the Samsung charger, which keeps the phone from sliding around on its own. There’s also rubber padding on the bottom of the device, too.

At around $25, the Samsung charger won’t break the bank, either.

Update The Software On Your iPhone

Wireless charging was initially introduced by an iOS update. If you have a phone which supports wireless charging but unresponsive on the charging pad, you may have to update its charging facility. Heres how you can check the phone for software update:

  • Open the Settings app and tap General > Software Update.
  • Theres usually a red notification on this section where you can tap to download the latest software update.
  • If no update is present, the screen will prompt that Your software is up to date.

The wireless charging not working on iPhone X, 8 or 8 Plus again? The culprit behind the faulty wireless charging of your iPhone may still be a software glitch. The last tip to fix a software issue is to perform the full DFU restore. It is the most extensive type of restore which can be performed on an iPhone. Check out our guide to perform a DFU restore.

Apple makes just enough changes to each iPhone every year to make the upgrade seem compelling. This year, its all about wireless charging. But iPhone fans have another tough decision to make: The much improved iPhone X with a more colorful screen debuts in November, so reviewing the iPhone 8 is harder than ever. We dont know whether the iPhone X will offer enough incentives to wait.

I tested the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus in multiple environments in my car, in an office, while watching television at home, and on a long walk. I mainly wanted to find out how the new model is different from the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, which Ive also tested extensively.

The iPhone 8 costs $699 with 64GB of storage and has a 4.7-inch screen. The iPhone 8 Plus costs $799 for 64GB of storage and has a 5.5-inch screen. Both phones use a new A11 Bionic processor theyre water and dust resistant and have new glass backs.

Once you realize that wireless charging is the primary new feature, there are still several other considerations some are important, some are a bit trivial.

    About Fast Wireless Charging

Apple notes on the product pages for both the Mophie and the Belkin charger that fast wireless charging will be enabled via a software update due later this year. As of now, actual charging speeds will be close to the same speeds garnered from the 5W Power Adapter included with the iPhone 8.

Although the latest Qi specification supports 15W wireless fast charging, the iPhone 8 and iPhone X will only support half of that. This appears to be either a software or hardware limitation, or a combination of both.

Once the fast charging update is applied, charging wattage will increase by 50% up to 7.5W, which should provide a subtle, yet noticeable increase in charging speed. We will be sure to test the chargers again once the update goes live, but technically all of them, sans the Anker Wireless Charging Pad, supply enough output to support 7.5W fast charging. The issue, however, may have to do with secure encryption. Weve heard through unofficial channels that only supported partners will support the faster 7.5W charging.
