Pixel 7 Pro Vs iPhone 13 Pro Max Specs And Performance

iPhone 13 Pro Max vs Galaxy S21 Ultra – Which Should You Buy?

Weve already mentioned that the Pixel 7 Pro runs on Googles new Tensor G2 processor. Early reports suggest that its not a huge advance over the Pixel 6 Pros Tensor chip, in terms of raw performance.

If benchmarks are to be believed, it still falls well behind the iPhone 13 Pro Max and its A15 Bionic chip in raw CPU and GPU output, even though that latter chip has itself been superseded.

What Google will point to with the Tensor G2, however, is its advanced machine learning capabilities. It enables such unique functions as real-time speech transcription, whilst also enabling supernaturally clear voice calls and that aforementioned photo deblurring feature.

Google is also claiming that the new processor is more energy-efficient than before. Its built to a 4nm standard, which is more efficient than the 5nm production method used by Apple on the 13 Pro Max.

The Pixel 7 Pro comes with 12GB of RAM as standard, which is double that of the iPhone 13 Pro Max. We can largely discount that difference, however, given the fundamental differences in the way iOS and Android handle their resources.

One difference in Apples favor is its provision of four storage options: 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. Google only gives you a choice of 128GB, 256GB and, only in select markets, 512GB.

The iPhone 13 Pro Has A Longer Telephoto Camera

The main camera has a new sensor, the largest ever put into an iPhone. It has a faster f1.5 aperture lens, which equates to improved light gathering. The ultrawide has a new auto focus sensor and lens that also improves light gathering. And last, the telephoto camera gets a new sensor and lens with a longer 3x optical zoom.

Using the Pro iPhones did result in brighter photos, but the improvement wasn’t always obvious. I also noticed that photos had fast shutter speeds, which resulted in freezing action better, like when I took a shot of people riding bikes.

Take a look at photos I took with both phones in the gallery below.

The iPhone 13 Pro Max Has The Longest Battery Life Of Any Phone We Tested

Both the 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max have a larger battery. I didn’t have any trouble getting through a day, even a hot and humid one where I captured a bunch of photos and videos. For me, the iPhone 13 Pro easily lasts a day on a single charge and the iPhone 13 Pro Max can go two days per charge. Both phones have longer battery lives last year’s iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max.In CNET’s battery test in which we play a looped video on Airplane mode with the screen at half brightness, the iPhone 13 Pro lasted 22 hours, 2 minutes, and the iPhone 13 Pro Max lasted 31 hours, 19 minutes. The iPhone 13 Pro Max lasted longer than any phone CNET has ever tested. The larger battery isn’t the only reason for better battery performance. A big part of the improvement comes from the LTPO display that automatically adjusts the refresh rate. The iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max have a fixed 60Hz refresh-rate whereas the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max can drop down as low as 10Hz using less power.

I’ve had all four iPhone 13 models for about five days, so there are some features I still need to test more to give you a true critique. Let’s wrap up by talking about a few of those remaining questions.

I still have more in-depth testing to do on the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max and CNET’s team will be doing its usual barrage of camera tests, drop tests and battery tests. Keep checking back as we learn more about these phones.

iPhone 13 Pro Versus iPhone 13

Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max Best Price in Kenya

The iPhone 13 Pro is made from stainless steel, making it heavier than the iPhone 13. The camera module is larger for pro models, so users will have to be careful to get the correct case size.

Pro models have Promotion, which means the display can alter its refresh rate based on content with a maximum of 120Hz. This also provides an advantage to battery life when watching a video or viewing static text.

Graphics applications will perform slightly better on pro iPhones thanks to an additional GPU core. The standard model has four cores, while the pro has five.

Pro users get all-around better cameras thanks to a wider aperture on the wide and ultra-wide lenses. The 3x telephoto also adds 3x portraits and overall better zoom modes.

Standard iPhones also do not get access to ProRES video or Macro photo modes. The largest differences users will see between these devices in day-to-day use is in the cameras.

Promotion On The iPhone 13 Pro Is Stellar

iPhone 13 Pro Max vs Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra – Which is the Flagship KING?

The 13 Pro has a 6.1-inch screen and the 13 Pro Max a 6.7-inch one. In everyday use, the screens are noticeably brighter. The displays have what Apple calls ProMotion, meaning the iPhone, for the first time ever, supports a high refresh rate. Depending on what’s being shown on the screen, the refresh rate switches between 10 and 120Hz. This is a similar approach Samsung took with the Galaxy S21 Ultra. In use, the screen looks stellar. Animations look smooth, graphics crisp and even mundane things like scrolling feeds look better.

Ios 15 And Supreme Power

Apple is making some bold claims about the iPhone 13 Pro Max, selling it as one of the most powerful smartphones out there right now and the claims seem pretty justified based on our testing.

While the numbers that we saw in our benchmarking absolutely back Apple up , the real-world performance is what matters. The ‘issue’ is that smartphones are already more than powerful enough to handle most things you want to throw at them, and the fact the 13 Pro Max is lightning-fast at switching between apps is no surprising thing.

When it comes to raw figures the results speak for themselves: this phone is twice as fast at transcoding Adobe video from 4K to 1080p) as the 11 Pro Max, and a second faster than the 12 Pro Max from last year. Apple’s claims that the new A15 chipset is powering things along more efficiently than ever before really do stack up.

But we were surprised to see that some high-power games, like Grid Autosport, didn’t load that much faster the games high levels of detail and graphical fidelity mean its going to take a few seconds to load on any device, but we expected it to be a lot quicker on the iPhone 13 Pro Max compared to a phone from two years ago.

Let’s quickly look at those benchmarks: the iPhone 13 Pro Max scored far better in terms of framerate, multi-core capability and speed of video transcoding when compared to the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra almost twice as fast in some cases.

How Does The iPhone 13 Pro Max Compare

The iPhone 13 Pro Max boasts the fastest processing power, thanks to its A15 Bionic chip. Combining a powerful processor and 5G network connectivity makes it an ideal choice for surfing, streaming, gaming, and connecting with others. The A15 Bionic processor and 5G network make this phone the fastest smartphone out there. Like the iPhone 12 Pro Max, the iPhone 13 Pro Max has a 6.7″ OLED display, but with a few notable upgrades. The display has an adaptive refresh rate called ProMotion that adds fluidity and responsiveness. You can also boost the brightness to view everything displayed on the screen in various conditions. So if you want a phone that won’t strain your eyes when reading, surfing or streaming, iPhone 13 Pro Max is your best choice.

Your photos and videos should no longer appear dull and uninspiring. With our used iPhone 13 Pro Max, you can rest assured of capturing the best moments in your life like a pro. iPhone 13 Pro Max Review: Software

  • Focus cuts down on distractions

iOS 15 isnt the leap iOS 14 was in terms of adding widgets, but it delivers some smart and fun upgrades. FaceTime gets some needed audio and video improvements and, as of iOS 15.1, you can use the new to listen to music or watch movies or TV shows with friends or family. And the Messages app has a new Shared with You section for easier access to shared photos, articles and more.

I especially like the new Focus feature in iOS 15, which lets you filter notifications based on what youre doing. Notifications are also more streamlined, thanks with a new summary view so you dont get overwhelmed.

Other iOS 15 goodies include a redesigned Safari , a more full-featured Weather app and an enhanced Maps app with more detail and better road views. Last but not least, Live Text gives you Google Lens-like powers by recognizing text in real time via the camera for looking up things.

Developers make great apps for Apple devices, and that hasn’t slowed down with iOS 15’s release. We’d suggest loading up on some of the best iPhone apps or, if you’re new to the platform, grabbing the best apps for a new iPhone.

And now that iOS 16 is official, we have a lot more to look forward to. Apple announced a bunch of changes to things like the lock screen and Messages. There is even an update to allow Face ID to unlock your iPhone 13 Pro Max in landscape mode.

Pixel 7 Pro Vs iPhone 13 Pro Max Camera

iPhone 13 Pro Max (256 GB) In Touch

The Pixel 7 Pro lays on a 50MP main camera sensor with OIS , a 12MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 48MP telephoto sensor with OIS.

Apples iPhone 13 Pro Max supplies a trio of 12MP sensors, with the main sensor backed by a more advanced sensor-shift stabilization system. The telephoto gets plain OIS support, like the Pixel.

Google wins in the telephoto count, not necessarily for the higher pixel count, but because it can hit a 5x optical zoom. Apples telephoto can only extend to 3x. Beyond that optical zoom level, the Pixel 7 Pro can hit a 30x digital zoom range, while the iPhone 13 Pro Max can only reach 15x.

Both ultra-wide sensors support macro shots, through dedicated, automated modes, which is an interesting parallel.

Around front, the Pixel 7 Pro has a new 10.8MP selfie camera, with autofocus. The iPhone 13 Pro Max has another 12MP sensor, but its a less sophisticated fixed focus offering.

The main difference here relates to image processing rather than hardware. Googles color science is traditionally cooler and more contrast-heavy, while Apples is traditionally more natural.

Google has picked up some new skills with the Pixel 7 Pro, courtesy of the new custom Tensor G2 chip. Night Sight shots now shoot twice as quickly as before, but the truly transformational addition could be Photo Unblur, which magically sharpens up blurry shots.

    The Display: Double The Pleasure

Like its predecessor, the iPhone 13 Pro Max has a 6.7-inch OLED display with 2,778-by-1,284-pixel resolution, a wide color gamut, and Apple’s TrueTone color management system. Apple has increased the standard screen brightness from 800cd/m2 to 1,000cd/m2, but I can’t see that with my eyesâI’ll have to wait for DisplayMate Labs’ analysis for verification.

    See How We Test Phones

The iPhone Pro models this year amp up their screen refresh rate to 120Hz. For now, that’s almost entirely in Apple’s first-party apps third-party app creators will generally have to update their apps to use the smoother animations.

The 120Hz screen will be great for gaming when the developers update their games

So you can’t see the effect of 120Hz everywhere, but you can definitely see it in Safari. 120Hz is the sort of thing that you don’t miss until you have it, but when you get it, it’s really hard to go back to 60Hz. Right now, it primarily makes a big difference when scrolling through web pages the pages are less tiring on the eyes because the scrolling is smoother. Here’s a quick video showing the difference between the iPhone 12 Pro and the iPhone 13 Pro:

On iPad Pro and Samsung Galaxy Note models, the 120Hz screen makes a big difference in stylus responsiveness. There’s no such killer app here, so the 120Hz screen isn’t necessarily a reason to go Pro, yet. It’s a nice feature to have, though.
