Was There An iPhone 9

Must read

Is It iPhone 9 Or iPhone Se 2

Why there was no iPhone 9?

Good question. We don’t know. Apple could end up calling it iPhone turtle shell for all we know. We speculate on a name in part because it’s fun and in part because it helps us organize in our own brains what each iPhone in Apple’s lineup represents.

The rumor of it being called an iPhone SE 2 actually started years ago. Back then, we’d been holding out hope for a new version of the four-inch form factor. That sweet beautiful iPhone SE design . Within the past year, however, we’d been hearing strong rumors about this so-called iPhone SE 2 and its design, which is decidedly not that of the iPhone SE. It’s more akin to an iPhone 8 design. Why was it initially being called iPhone SE 2? It’s likely that the rumors coming from the supply chain were referring to a “low-cost” iPhone. What’s the last, truly low-cost iPhone Apple launched? The iPhone SE.

We previously put our vote into the iPhone 9 camp, however, assuming that Apple would not actually reuse the SE nomenclature for a 2020 model.

Why iPhone 9 and not iPhone 11s or iPhone 12, you ask? The idea comes from the current iPhone lineup at Apple.

There is the iPhone 11 line; that’s the base-model iPhone and the two pro model iPhones .

Though, I’m still secretly hoping this was all a ruse and the four-inch iPhone will be the only phone ever to have the SE moniker.

iPhone 6 And 6 Plus Sales

To give you an idea of just how much of a tradition the release date of new models had become in iPhone history, consider that Apple sold 10 million phones on the first weekend the phone was available. This beat the record of nine million that had been set with the release of the iPhone 5S and 5C, and it demonstrates just how popular these devices had become.

It Will Have A Faster Processor

A report from DigiTimes claims Apple is expected to ask TSMC to produce the next-generation processor, likely dubbed Apple A12. Samsung may also produce some of the chips. The two companies produced the chips for the iPhone 6S, but Apple switched solely to TSMC for the 7.

The iPhone 9s chip is expected to use a transistor channel length of seven nanometers, where the iPhone 8 will use a 10 nanometer chip. In laymans terms, the processor should have more computing power and less power consumption demands.

Release Date: September 22 2017

For the first time in the history of the iPhone, Apple chose not to release an S version of their previous iPhone. Instead, they skipped right to the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. However, if youve been paying attention to the last few chapters of iPhone history, youve likely noticed that the previous versions offered little in terms of radically new features. Instead, Apple chose to simply install faster processors and better cameras, as these were the things the public demanded. With the iPhone 8, things were not much different.

However, Apple did introduce one new thing with the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus: inductive charging, which is often referred to more commonly as wireless charging. This feature allows the iPhone to be charged without being plugged in, although you need a special device to make this work.

The only other major novelty to come with the iPhone 8 was an improved processor. This new version of the phone has an Apple A11 quad-core, 64-bit, 2.4 Ghz processor with 2GB RAM The motion coprocessor was improved to an M11, and the camera lens was also upgraded slightly. Furthermore, the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus came with the newest version of Apples operating system, iOS 12, and there were two choices in terms of internal memory: 64GB and 256 GB. Prices ranged from $599-849

Battery life stayed the same for the most part, but it actually decreased for some tasks Heres how long the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus could last by activity:

Generation 1: iPhone 11 Pro And iPhone 11 Pro Max

Why There Was No iPhone 9

In addition to the iPhone 11, Apple also announced on September 10, 2019, the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max. Like the iPhone 11, this iPhone has an updated processor and a longer battery life, although the iPhone Pro and Pro Max are designed to last an additional four hours and five hours more than the iPhone XS and XS Max respectively.;

Like the XS and XS Max, the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max have an OLED Super Retina display whereas the basic iPhone 11 has an LCD Liquid Crystal display that has less resolution.;

However, hands-down the biggest difference between the iPhone Pro/Pro Max and the iPhone 11 is the camera. For the first time in iPhone history, an iPhone will have three cameras on the back of it, one of which is a telephoto lens and one of which is an ultra-wide-angle.;

This just shows how much Apple understands the importance of a good camera in a phone. We live in an Instagram era, folks.;

But this camera is for more than just social media. Its designed to help people take professional-grade photos an videos with their phones, and specific apps will be released to help people do this. One example presented by Apple is deep fusion, which actually takes nine photos using the three lenses almost at once, and then it processes these images to find the best version of your subject. Pretty cool stuff.

For the Pro model, the pricing is as follows:;

  • 64GB $999

And for the Pro Max model, the prices on release were:

  • 64GB $1099
  • 512GB $1449

The 6s changed everything. Well, not everything, it basically looked;the same. But inside, Apple upgraded the iPhone 6s;quite a lot. The camera made a huge leap forward going from 8 MP to 12 MP. The memory was also doubled from 1 GB to 2 GB. After the iPhone 6 had;some bending issues , Apple gave the iPhone 6s 7000 series aluminum to make sure that never happened again. Last but not least, 3D Touch was introduced.

iPhone 2g Features And Functionality

According to Apple, the first version of the iPhone was actually a combination of three products. It was:

  • A revolutionary mobile phone
  • A widescreen iPod with touch controls
  • A breakthrough Internet communications device with desktop-class email, web browsing, searching, and maps.

Its natural to want to anoint the innovative touch screen as the most novel feature since up until this point nothing like it existed. But the first iPhone was also a brand new phone in that it allowed people to make calls by simply pointing at and touching a name in their contacts list.

This type of functionality had never been seen before, and it helped make the iPhone truly unique. Furthermore, the introduction of Visual Voicemail made it possible for users to read their voicemails as texts instead of having to listen to them.

The first iPhone also featured a full QWERTY keyboard on a soft touchscreen. Before the iPhone, phones with full keyboards, such as the Blackberry, made us of a hard keyboard, which reduced the size of the screen. Wanting to make the iPhone a full-screen device, Apple invented a touchscreen that was more accurate and more responsive than any other phone in history.

Because of this, the first iPhone was also described as a full-screen iPod. This idea of having a full-screen device with a beautiful, easy-to-use interface changed the course of mobile phone history. Today, nearly all smartphones today are built using this design concept.

A New Way To Use Computers

Why Apple Skipped The iPhone 9

The birth of the revolutionary technology that would eventually power the iPhone didnt start with a grand vision for reshaping the way we communicate. It started with a plan to fix the most cumbersome parts of a computer: the mouse.

In;2003, Apple started internal experimentation to find a way to replace the mouse with a touchpad that offered much more control and flexibility. Their initial design, a tablet-sized, finger-controlled interface known as the;Model 035, allowed users to pinch, scroll, and zoom all things that were currently unavailable on modern computers.

This project was eventually put aside though when it became clear that Apple had more pressing issues

Between the iPhone 5s and the iPhone 5c, Apple sold nine million units in the first week of sales. The iPhone 5c was meant to be slightly more affordable and had a plastic shell. It was available in four different colors, but not too much else was different. The iPhone 5s, on the other hand, introduced Touch ID, dual flash, and slow-motion video. Plus, it included the M7 motion coprocessor, which opened a new realm of possibilities and also helped save battery life.

When Should I Upgrade My iPhone

For the most part, upgrading your iPhone is a personal decision. Most users make the choice based on the need for more storage space, the need for more current features or ability to use current software, and the availability of great price incentives to upgrade or switch phone service providers. If you’re asking “when can I upgrade my iPhone,” that’s something you’ll need to ascertain via your current provider, based on their rules for upgrade eligibility.

The iPhone 7 Plus proved to be more popular than previous Plus models due to its new dual camera, which made a significantly improved zoom feature possible, and Portrait mode, a software update that;let iPhone 7 Plus users take impressive photos using Depth of Field. Perhaps the most controversial feature of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus was the one Apple removed: the;headphone jack. The new iPhones shipped with EarPods that plugged into the Lightning port and an adaptor for traditional headphones. Apple introduced its;wireless AirPods at the same event it announced it was eliminating the headphone jack.;

How Much Will It Cost

The point of this particular iPhone is its position as an entry-level iPhone for newcomers and fans on a budget. For that reason, it can’t cost more than $500, and that’s coming in a little pricey. A lot depends on what kind of up-to-date features Apple puts into the iPhone SE 2020. If the chassis stays the same, but the guts get updated we’re going to see it come in at around $400 to $450. The iPhone 8 currently starts at $450, but Apple wants this to have no barrier to purchase. The original iPhone SE launched at $399 and that’s what we’re betting Apple will do for the iPhone 9/ iPhone SE 2020, as well.

First iPhone Countries And Carriers

iPhone 9 (2020) – But Why?

By Christmas of 2007, Apple dropped these prices, much to the chagrin of consumers, and this helped to boost sales. But one of the things that really held back iPhone sale in the beginning, even though the numbers are still quite staggering, was that the phone was only available in limited countries and on limited networks.

In the U.S., for example, the iPhone was only offered through the wireless carrier Cingular. This would change in the coming years, but an exclusivity contract between the two companies meant that one needed to be a Cingular customer to enjoy the state-of-the-art technology included in the iPhone.

In addition to the United States, the iPhone was also sold in the United Kingdom and Germany using similar exclusive contracts like the one between Apple in Cingular.

During its first year, the iPhone also became available in Belgium and the Netherlands, as well as France. However, Apple soon ran into legal trouble as many European phone carriers sued Apple for its exclusivity contract, a move which caused a temporary halt to iPhone sales in Europe. However, despite this limited release, iPhones got into the hands of people all over the world and expanding the market became a defining characteristic of the next chapter of iPhone history.

iPhone 4 Features And Functionality

One of the most exciting things to come from the iPhone 4 was the release of FaceTime. Making use of the iPhones new front-facing camera, users could easily and clearly video chat with other iPhone users, providing people with a brand new way to communicate with one another.

The ability to use FaceTime is something that helped make the iPhone an even more important device in the lives of so many people around the world. However, what really made the iPhone 4 special were the upgrades it received on the inside as well as its brand new design.

A Seemingly Forgotten Name Could Make Its Debut Soon

For years , Apple stuck to number-focused branding. Once upon a time, there existed an iPhone 4, iPhone 5, and iPhone 6. You could even get your hands on an iPhone 7 and iPhone 8. Today, many people are using the iPhone X and iPhone 11.

But the iPhone 9 has been conspicuously absent from Apple’s lineup. Even when the company had the opportunity to launch the iPhone 9 following the iPhone 8, Apple skipped right over it.

All signs since have pointed to the iPhone 9’s being vaporware, a device lost to gods of tech, never to be spotted on the street.

But Apple might have had a change of heart, according to a new report from reliable Apple-tracking blog Macotakara. That site says Apple is planning to release a new, budget-friendly iPhone in early 2020, complete with a 4.7-inch screen, Touch ID fingerprint sensor, and the A13 bionic processor. Apple won’t break any new ground in the device’s design and will instead design it to look identical to the iPhone 8.

If that sounds familiar, it’s because we’ve been hearing reports about this device for several months. But all of those reports said the handset would be called the iPhone SE 2, indicating it would be a successor to the budget-friendly iPhone SE.

Macotakara, however, reports that its souces say the device will be known as the iPhone 9. Finally, after years of trying to figure out what happened to it, we’ll have an iPhone 9 on store shelves.

The Rise And Fall Of The Ipod

The iPod was;released in 2001;and quickly became not only a consumer favorite but also one of;Apples major revenue streams.

But even as iPod sales were climbing rapidly, Apples executive team knew its days were limited. Customers were carrying around both an iPod and a mobile phone and were convinced that the mobile phones would eventually have the ability to play music, something that would make iPods obsolete.

To keep the company profitable and maintain its position as a market leader in tech innovation, Apple executives knew they needed to come up with the next generation of mobile phones before their competitors did.
