Back in the day, Apple used to release a single device each year. This all changed with the release of the iPhone 6; it was joined by the largest iPhone ever produced at the time, the iPhone 6 Plus. Apple stuck with this release cycle for three years, ending it with the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus.

The iPhone X launched after the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus and was Apples first big design change to its iPhone since the release of the iPhone 6; the iPhone X did not have a home button and packed in an OLED display, a first for Apples iPhone. It also had a gesture-based UX and FACE ID.

From here, the iPhone X-style iPhone would go on to become the norm. The only break in the roadmap was the iPhone SE which got a release date on April 24, 2020. The SE 2020 might be joined by the iPhone SE Plus later on this year; this would give Apple two viable replacements for its big-selling iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus.

All flagship iPhone releases from 2017 onwards, however, will follow the iPhone Xs lead, meaning no home button, FACE ID, and gesture-based UXs. There will also be multiple models released each year. In 2020, there are four iPhone 12 handsets to choose from, adding in one extra model from 2019s iPhone 11 range.

iPhone 12 Pro: October 23 2020

So what’s the difference between the two phones? Well, much as between the Samsung Galaxy S9 and the , the two phones are very similar, with the most obvious difference being the screen size and resolution.;

The regular iPhone Xs has a display size of 5.8in;and runs at a “Super Retina” resolution of;2,436 x 1,125. The biggest Xs has, you guessed it, a bigger display of 6.5in with a 2,688 x 1,242 resolution. Both phones have a pixel density 458ppi .

The Xs Max also features a larger battery than the Xs. As usual, Apple is staying tight-lipped on the actual size of the battery, so we’ll have to put them through their paces before we can properly compare the two.

If youre not a fan of the iPhones usual color temperature or you just wanted more control over your photos youll appreciate the Photographic Styles feature. In the Camera app, you can switch from multiple styles, including standard, vibrant, rich contrast, warm and cool.

I tried out the feature with a series of portraits, and I appreciated the difference between styles. For example, the rich contrast mode made the shot look less hazy, while the vibrant setting made the coleus plants pop more along with the tree in the background. Its not that easy to switch this effect on the fly, as you have to tap a setting and then select the style you want, but I like that you can customize your own styles.;

According to Apple, the first version of the iPhone was actually a combination of three products. It was:

A widescreen iPod with touch controls

After several years of releasing the iPhone in the summer, Apple changed things up in 2011 by releasing the newest version of the device in October. iPhone 3gs Features And Functionality

In terms of features and functionality, the iPhone 3GS did not change all that much from the iPhone 3G. It included all of the same features as the first two iPhones plus:

Unlocking Face Id iPhones With Apple Watch

The iOS 14.5 and watchOS 7.4 updates introduced an “Unlock with Apple Watch” feature that’s designed to allow an iPhone with Face ID to use an unlocked and authenticated Apple Watch as a secondary authentication measure when a mask is worn.

Face ID is not able to work when a person is wearing a mask, so the Apple Watch authentication method prevents iPhone users from having to constantly enter a passcode when wearing a mask. It’s similar to the Apple Watch unlocking feature on the Mac and can be enabled in the Settings app under Face ID & Passcode.

An unlocked Apple Watch paired with Face ID can unlock the iPhone when a mask is worn, but it’s only for mask usage. The Apple Watch cannot be used to authenticate Apple Pay or App Store purchases, nor can it be used to unlock apps that require a Face ID scan. In these situations, the mask needs to be removed or a passcode/password needs to be used instead.

When the Apple Watch unlocks the iPhone, there’s a haptic tap on the wrist and with the iPhone sending a notification to the watch, much like how it works when using the watch to unlock a Mac. Unlock with Apple Watch is limited to those running iOS 14.5 and watchOS 7.4 or later.
