Does 2022 Mean The End For iPhone 7
Most likely yes, by the time 2022 arrives, we will have iPhone 14 on our hands and two new major feature updates as well. Apple ideally supports devices for 5 years and some get an additional year of support if they have enough processing power. Ideally, the 5 years support will end this year for iPhone 7 with the release of iOs 15. However, considering the iPhone 7s processing power and the fact that the iPhone 6s has gotten 6 feature updates and is running the latest iOS 14, we suspect an additional year of updates for the iPhone 7 as well.
This grace of one year could very well be cut short if Apple decides to revamp the OS and introduce resource-heavy features which would slow down the iPhone 7. In that case, 2021 could mean the end of the iPhone 7.
iPhone 3gs Features And Functionality
In terms of features and functionality, the iPhone 3GS did not change all that much from the iPhone 3G. It included all of the same features as the first two iPhones plus:
- VoiceOver for Accessibility
- Voice control
- Nike + iPod for training
- An inline remote on the headphone cable
These changes were nice, but what really made the iPhone 3GS different was how it was built on the inside.
iPhone X Features And Functionality
The first thing that jumps out about the iPhone X is that it is all screen. Apple did away with much of the material surrounding the screen, and it put in an OLED display that covers the entire surface of the phone. In doing this, though, Apple made a big change: it got rid of its signature Home button. This created a major change in the user experience, as you now need to swipe up with your finger to exit apps and switch between screens. Doing away with the Home button, though, means there is no more Touch ID. But to compensate, the iPhone X has facial recognition, meaning all you need to do is look at your phone to unlock it.
Another new feature of the iPhone X are Aniemojis, which are emojis that move on the screen and that can be created using an avatar based on your own face. While this is hardly a technological breakthrough, it certainly made the iPhone more fun.

iPhones are still hot, with the newest iPhone 12 proving to be one of the hottest selling devices this year. But this isn’t the first time a phone has gathered this much fame, in this short amount of time. Almost every time Apple reveals a new iPhone, it sells like it’s made of candy and sets new trends.
But where and more importantly, when did the iPhone’s rise to success begin? Watch as this list counts down a timeline every single iPhone release, starting in 2007, to the latest iPhone 12.
iPhone 11 / 11 Pro / 11 Pro Max
Apples iPhone 11 range was significant because it effectively used the lessons Apple learned with its iPhone X range, specifically, you need a cheaper model, a smaller flagship model, and a large-displayed flagship, in order to properly address the needs of all consumers. The iPhone 11 range has proven very popular, helped no end by just how could the entry-level iPhone 11 was in practice at $699.99, its cheaper and still more powerful than both Samsungs Galaxy S10 and its newer Galaxy S20.
The iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone Pro Max were the first iPhones to feature triple-lens cameras, a move that was a long time coming. Apple really drilled down on the camera performance for the iPhone 11 range, and it worked the iPhone 11 Pro camera is very, very impressive. The phones themselves looked similar to the iPhone XS range, with the iPhone 11 replacing the iPhone XR. Inside, the phones ran Apples A13 chipset, a hugely powerful SoC that could run rings around most mid-range laptops.

iPhone 12 Pro: October 23 2020
The iPhone 12 Pro boasts some very fancy camera and color upgrades as compared to the 12 and the 12 mini, but comes in the same 6.1-inch screen size as the iPhone 12 and includes all of the baseline features present in the budget models. New camera features introduced in 2020 include a triple-lens arrangement like we saw with the iPhone 11 Pro models, but with LiDAR scanning, improved Night Mode, and enhanced zoom range and lens functions. Both iPhone 12 Pro models include the fastest aperture ever used in an iPhone. Apple has added RAW photos for superior pro editing capability, and has included Dolby Vision up to 60 frames per second in the Pro models.
Yeah It’s Really Water Resistant
Apple’s IP67 water-resistance rating on the new iPhone finally catches up to phones that have been dunkable for a while. Samsung’s Galaxy S7 can survive a drop in the sink. Even the supercheap Moto G4 can do it.
How water resistant is the iPhone 7? Apple calls it “splash and water resistant,” and by the way, IP67 means one meter of water for 30 minutes and complete dust resistance. But Apple also warns that any dip in salt water should be followed by an immediate rinse in fresh water. And also, you have to dry your phone for at least a couple of hours before charging .
Apple finally takes the plunge and waterproofs its iPhones.
I took the iPhone 7 in the shower. I dropped it in a fish tank a few times. I put it in a sink and turned on the tap and filled the sink with the iPhone in it.
In more aggressive tests, we took the iPhone 7 a bit past its advertised aquatic limits: submerged at a depth of 1 meter in a pool of chlorinated water for a bit more than 30 minutes. In that case, the speaker quality got a bit mushy, but the phone was otherwise in working order.
Bottom line: the iPhone 7 should easily survive trips in rain and snow, as well as getting dropped in tubs, pools, sinks and other wet environs. But don’t tempt fate by leaving it in water for any longer than you have to.

iPhone 7 Water Resistance
The iPhone 7 feel solid, arguably more solid than the previous generation iPhone 6S. This may have something to do with the fact that the phone is now water resistant, carrying an IP67 ingress rating. That means the iPhone 7 can last up to 30 minutes fully submerged in about 3 feet of water. This doesnt make the phone waterproof, however, so you shouldnt take the iPhone 7 with you into the pool. The IP67 rating is merely a little extra protection to survive drops in the toilet and the like.
What Does iPhone Obsolete Mean
When an iPhone becomes obsolete, it means that the product has been discontinued for more than seven years and, all hardware service to these devices is also discontinued. This means that service providers cannot obtain parts for these devices and no technical support is provided either. A product that is considered vintage, is one that has not been manufactured in five years but less than seven years prior. It will receive hardware support if it was bought in the state of California within that time frame.
When dealing with Apple Retail Stores in Europe, Canada, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific regions, vintage and obsolete devices have no distinction between the labels. All are considered obsolete. If an individuals iPhone breaks or malfunctions in some manner, they would have to either fix it using third-party software, or have an unauthorized smartphone repair service technician take a look at it. Also, iOS won’t be updated on obsolete iPhone. For example, iOS 13.3 won’t install on the old devices.

What To Do Before Your iPhone Becomes Obsolete
If the next roll out of iPhone models is going to render your iPhone model obsolete, there are a few things you need to be aware of. First off, your phone is going to be more open to security vulnerabilities and second, the applications you have installed on it are likely to stop receiving updates as developers will abandon the older operating system. The longer you have the older phone in operation, the more insecure it is going to become as the system goes unpatched. However, there are a few things you can do to help squeeze out more life from the older version.
Is iPhone 7 Any Good
Yes that phone is even more expensive, but it lasts a lot longer and has an even better camera that offers proper zoom. Theres is one other option to consider too if youre hooked on Apple. The iPhone 6S Plus remains a great phone, has strong battery life and costs exactly the same as the iPhone 7.

As with 2015’s iPhone choices, you can also opt for the step-up iPhone 7 Plus, which offers a larger screen . But that model’s big attraction is the dual rear cameras, which enable 2x optical zoom and a cool in-camera “bokeh” effect portrait mode, which blurs the background while keeping the foreground in focus.
Now, should you wait until September 2017? All the rumors point to Apple delivering a major design overhaul for the iPhone’s 10th anniversary — anything from a Galaxy Edge-style wraparound OLED screen to a fingerprint sensor hidden under the screen to wireless charging. It’s tempting. But in the meantime, especially if you want to take advantage of the various retro-contract “free with two-year commitment” offers, know that the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus are worthy, useful upgrades to their predecessors — even if they look almost identical from the outside.

Let’s not diminish the missing jack. The loss will hurt, especially while other iPhones exist that still have a jack onboard. If you want to plug regular into your new iPhone, a process that seemed simple and uncomplicated before, you now need to consider whether you brought the included dongle, or have a pair of Bluetooth headphones. Or your special Lightning headphones that come in the box. But it’s surmountable.
Email And Text Messages
The iPhone also features an email program that supports HTML email, which enables the user to embed photos in an email message. PDF, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint attachments to mail messages can be viewed on the phone.Yahoo! offers a free push-email service for the iPhone. IMAP and POP3 mail standards are also supported, including Microsoft Exchange and Kerio Connect.
In the first versions of the iPhone firmware, this was accomplished by opening up IMAP on the Exchange server. Apple has also licensed Microsoft ActiveSync and supports the platform with the release of iPhone 2.0 firmware. The iPhone will sync email account settings over from Apple’s own Mail application, Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft Entourage, or it can be manually configured on the device itself. The email program can access almost any IMAP or POP3 account.
Text messages are presented chronologically in a mailbox format similar to Mail, which places all text from recipients together with replies. Text messages are displayed in speech bubbles under each recipient’s name. The iPhone has built-in support for email message forwarding, drafts, and direct internal camera-to-email picture sending. Support for multi-recipient SMS was added in the 1.1.3 software update. Support for MMS was added in the 3.0 update, but not for the original first generation iPhone and not in the U.S. until September 25, 2009.

iPhone Xs And Xs Max Improvements And Upgrades
Although Apple put quite a bit of work into making the XS and XS Max seem significantly different than the iPhone X, in reality, the phones are very similar. The X and the XS are almost identical in size, except the XS weighs .01 ounces less. The XS Max, by design, is larger. It has a 6.5 inch/16.5cm screen as compared to 5.8 inches/14.7, and it weighs about an ounce more than the iPhone XS.
Both phones got an upgraded camera, largely with improved HDR and image stabilization technology, and although the front-facing camera remained the same, Apple updated the technology to make sure Face ID works more quickly.
Probably the most significant upgrade is in the processor. Apple improved upon its A11 processor and put an A12 processor with six cores in the iPhone XS and XS Max. It has 4GB of RAM and is capable of speeds up to 2.49 GHz, and it comes preloaded with iOS 12
Both the XS and XS Max are available in 64GB, 256GB, and 512GB models, and prices range from $999-$1349. Lastly, battery life was slightly improved. With the XS and XS Max, you get:
- 20/25 hours of talk time
- 12/13 hours of internet use
- 14/15 hours of wireless video playback
- 60/65 hours of audio playback
