Carrier locked iPhones has a special lock software code, which prevents the device of connecting to any carrier network different from the original. The main reason why this lock software exists is to ensure you use your iDevice with a specific mobile company. The good thing about carrier locks is that they are removable. You just need to enter a particular code to unlock your iPhone. But, getting to the point of entering the code to your iPhone is not the easiest task.
In other words, carrier locks are contract locks that your mobile operator creates. They offer mobile devices with a discount, but if you get one of these phones you agree to specific terms of use. Usually, the contracts obligate you to use the carrier service for one or two years. However, if you break the contract, the mobile company will charge you an early-termination fee to make up for that discount.
Sometimes, even if you purchase a full-price for your iPhone, it still may be locked to a carrier. Only explicitly presented neverlocked iPhones are 100% unlocked for any carrier.
What You Can Do When Someone Blocks Your Number
Here are some other methods for contacting people who may have you blocked:
- Social media. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat all have bespoke chat functions you can use to message someone to see if theyre alright. Even if they block your number, it wont affect these other services.
- Email. If youve been blocked by someone, the emails associated with your contact in their iPhone will also be blocked from the Mail app. Try emailing from a different email address.
- . Calls heading straight to voicemail? Try a different number unknown to the person if the calls still go straight to voicemail, youll know its probably not a blocking issue. If it rings more than a few times, its an indicator your number is blocked.
- Try a video chat. Services like Skype and Zoom are popular options many of us have on our phones and computers and may provide a way to connect with someone. Skype shows you when someone is active, too, and can be a good way to verify someone is well.
Try Calling From Another Phone Number To Be Sure Youre Blocked
This is one of the simplest ways to figure out the truth. If youre unable to make contact using your one number, try a new one. Then, be a bit straightforward and ask whether he/she has barred you from calling or messaging.
It might have happened that your number was accidentally deleted from the contact list, and the person has a setting enabled that silences unknown callers.
If this is the case, you can ask the person to add your contact back to their iPhone or launch Settings on their iPhone and go to Phone Silence Unknown Callers and toggle it off.
Note: In certain jurisdictions, repeatedly calling a person from a blocked or unblocked number may amount to harassment.

Based on our tests in April of 2021 this still works. If you dial *67 then the recipients full ten digit phone number, your call will ring through. The recipients caller ID will say Unknown Caller or something similar.
These days, this probably isnt the best way to get the other person to answer, but you can tell by how the phone responds whether youve been blocked or not. If the feedback tone responds the same way as it did when you called from your number, the person is likely out of range of cellular service or having another issue.
However, if it rings just like normal, youve probably been blocked.

Check For Call Block By Calling The iPhone
If you have been blocked by someone with an iPhone, then calling the iPhone results in one ring, or no ring at all, before hearing a generic message stating that the person is not available.
If the recipients iPhone has voicemail setup, the call is then directed to voicemail. .
If you hear multiple rings and eventually get to voicemail, most likely your call and number has not been blocked.
Important: getting sent to voicemail does not always mean youre blocked!
Note that quickly getting sent to voicemail when you call someone does not necessarily mean your number or iPhone has been blocked, it can also mean a number of other things, including:
- The recipient is actively on another phone call that is connecting or the line is otherwise busy
- The recipient is in an area with low cell service coverage, or no cell service coverage
- The recipients phone is powered off, or in the process of rebooting
- The recipients iPhone does not have cellular service, or there is some other issue with the network
- There is a cellular network outage or something similar
- They may have their iPhone on Do Not Disturb mode
There are other reasons you may get sent to voicemail quickly too. Dont assume getting someones voicemail is because you have been blocked by the person.
Check For Message Delivery
When you send someone a message on an iPhone and Android device, you will see some text underneath the message that says Delivered. If its not there, you may have been blocked.
We recommend keeping your test text message subtle, maybe something simple like Hey, just checking in to see how youre doing. You dont want to be aggressive or sound paranoid, only to find out that the text was delivered after all. Also, keep in mind that the person may also have their phone off, so dont use this as your only line of evidence.

No Notifications Under A Sent Imessage
This method only works for iOS users.
Heres what you should do: open the Messages app, type up a message to the person you think has blocked you, and send it. But make sure that you send an iMessage .
Look carefully at the notification under the message you sent. If its status says Delivered, this means that the person received your message but hasnt read it yet. If you see Read written under the message, it means that the recipient has already taken a look at it. But if that person has blocked you, youll see a blank space without any status.
Take a look at the two screenshots below, the second screenshot doesn’t show any status at the bottom, which is what happens when you’re blocked.

It’s best to wait at least a couple of days and see if anything changes since there may be other reasons for this to happen besides being blocked.
For example, the recipient may have no data connection or their phone may have died.

On iPhone, when you block a person, they are blocked from iMessage, SMS texts, FaceTime, and phone calls. So, if you block someone or someone blocked you, this cuts off these four essential communication methods.
To know if someone blocked you on iMessage, open the Messages app and send them an iMessage. Now, wait for a few hours. If you dont see the Delivered text below your most recent sent text, its an indication of the following four things:
1) They blocked you. In everyday situations, you might not think of this. But if you recently got into an argument or hurt them in some ways, this can be the number one possibility.
2) Their iPhone isnt connected to Wi-Fi or Cellular data for the last several hours, which almost no one does nowadays. People are always connected to the internet. Also, for most apps, you can turn off cellular data individually. However, iOS doesnt offer a way to disable cellular data for the Messages app. So, if you dont see the word Delivered, chances are, youre blocked.
Option 1 Check The Imessage Color You Sent
If you have sent iMessage with other Apple users before, you should know about that there are two colors for Messages. iMessages are in color blue, SMS texts are green.
It is not definite that you have been blocked by a simple color sign, as you know, there are different reasons to cause sending SMS texts instead of iMessage.
For example, the network of iPhone doesnt work, then the iMessage you sent will be revert back as a green text message directly.
