You Should Get The Galaxy S22 Ultra If
You require an S Pen
For the very first time, Samsung is including an S Pen stylus that stores inside a Galaxy S device. The Galaxy S22 Ultra ships with the familiar Note feature that many have missed, and if youre one of those people, this is the phone for you. The iPhone 13 Pro Max isnt compatible with any sort of Apple-branded stylus.
Samsung throws in all the usual S Pen perks like quick notes on the lockscreen, special action menus and Bluetooth controls for the camera shutter, among others. It also offers the best writing experience of any S Pen to date.
You want one of the best displays ever
Samsung always delivers impressive display tech on its phones, and the Galaxy S22 Ultra is no exception. With its large 6.8-inch footprint, the S22 Ultra boasts a Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with a Quad HD+ resolution, delivering punchy colors and truly impressive contrast.
Its 120Hz refresh rate keeps everything smooth, and the 240Hz touch sampling rate means touch interactions will feel instantaneous. It will likely be perfect for gaming on the go. And with a peak brightness of 1,750 nits, it gets considerably brighter than the iPhone 13 Pro Max, which tops out at 1,200 nits.
The S22 Ultra is one of the best phones you can buy if youre looking for an exceptional display. Everything from movies to games to social media will look fantastic. And while the iPhone 13 Pro Max still has a great screen, the S22 Ultra is noticeably more impressive and eye-catching.
Galaxy S22 Vs iPhone 1: Design
As mentioned at the outset, both of these phones stick almost unflinchingly to the design of their predecessor. But thats fine given the massive departure last years designs were for each phone. Given the unique and comfortable designs Samsung and Apple hit upon, its unreasonable to expect yearly reinvention.
The iPhone 13s flat-edged look, despite being a throwback to the iPhone 4 aesthetic, still feels fresh in this modern reimagining. Other than adding a pink and blue color option, the only noticeable changes to the iPhone 13 are shaving the notch down by 20% and switching the rear camera lenses to a diagonal position . The latter doesnt make any functional difference and the notch dips further down into the display now Apple just narrowed it. Im still a fan of the design, but theres nothing much new to see here.
If you thought Apple didnt change much, the Galaxy S22 next to the Galaxy S21 is an expert level, spot-the-difference game. The Contour Cut Camera housing is back, and while its design remains identical, this is the one spot where you could detect a change as it is now color-matched to the phone rather than using a contrasting trim color. The other change is only really perceptible in hand or if you put the phones back-to-back, and that is a slight size reduction for the Galaxy S22 as it moved to a 6.1-inch display down from 6.2 inches. This was a great move by Samsung. As I highlighted in my review, it brought it into a perfect pocketable size.
When To Replace Your Cell Phone
While repairing your phone when it has a problem may be a solution, there are times when it makes more sense to replace your cell phone. Here are telltale signs that you need to replace your phone.
- Persistent Issues
- Its possible to do a factory data reset, also called a hard reset, to restore most cell phones to default and software settings. Resetting your device will, in most cases, restore your gadget to full functionality especially if you had apps unexpectedly crashing or black screen. But if you notice that you are performing data reset more frequently, for example once every week so as to keep your phone operational, it might be time to trade it for a new one.
- Battery Wont Hold Charge
- Todays crop of smartphones usually comes with a permanent battery installed. To replace such a battery, you will need to use the services of a professional technician. But the batteries that come with these devices are often only designed to last for one year with normal use. In case your smartphone has a built-in battery, you probably need to weigh the cost of professional battery replacement vis-a-viz buying a new phone. Chances are that its more cost effective to replace your phone.
- Generally, your phone repair technician will advise you on whether its better to just buy a new phone. Smartphone accessories like screens can be very expensive and you might just be better off replacing your phone.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra Vs iPhone 13 Pro Max: Design
The iPhone 13 Pro Max doesn’t change much from its predecessor, the iPhone 12 Pro Max. In fact, bar a 0.25mm increase in thickness, it’s nigh-on identical. The camera arrangement is a little bigger, and the screen notch a little smaller, but really, it’s business as usual on the design front.
That means you get the volume rocker and silent switch on the left edge, and the wake button on the right . There’s also the usual Lightning connector flanked by speaker perforations on the bottom edge and SIM card slot below the volume controls.
In all, despite a lack of aesthetic innovation, it’s a real beauty to look at and more importantly to use. It could be a little grippier, but that’s soon sorted by sticking it in a case.
While the iPhone 13 Pro Max is a case of more of the same, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is all change. It continues the legacy of the now-discontinued Galaxy Note range, thanks to the addition of the S Pen stylus housed in the casework, it pops out when pressed from the unit’s underside. And that Note heritage continues in terms of design.
The casework is made from more durable armour aluminium for the first time plus another exclusive, Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+, on the front and back of the device, which is 12 per cent stronger than its predecessor. So even without a case, it should shrug off the odd bump and knock .
To go with the Green, the phone also comes in Burgundy, Phantom Black and Phantom White colour schemes.
Overall Winner: iPhone 13
After a rocky start, the iPhone 13 stormed back and took this one. While a couple of categories like performance and battery life are decisive victories for the iPhone, for the most part, this was a battle of inches.
The Galaxy S22 is still one of the best phones available today with a stellar 120Hz display, a beautiful design, an excellent triple camera array and lengthy software support. Though it ultimately lost in some other categories, the battery life is the only one that I think could present a real problem for some users.
The iPhone 13, on the other hand, offers a brilliant new primary camera, long-lasting battery life, the Bionic A15 SoC that may as well be the work of Tony Stark and software support that will likely outlast your ownership of the phone.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus Vs iPhone 13 Pro: Which Should You Buy
Some people believe that the world is not a competition. But that may not be true for mobile brands in the market today, most especially Samsungs Galaxy and Apples iPhone. As there are new releases, the lines get thinner between Samsungs flagship smartphones and Apples. Quite a lot of people have seemingly preferred Apple to Samsung in terms of picture quality. However, as Samsung adds new and impressive features, theyve got better camera sensors and advanced photo editing software for the Galaxy S22+. With this, the iPhone no longer wears the crown for better cameras overall. Nevertheless, Apple still has the better processor with the A15 bionic.
With the all-new, unique features of these Mobile phones, deciding which to go for could be confusing. But for that, were here to help. We will list out all the key differences to help you make informed choices.
Lets start the comparison from without.
Galaxy S22 Vs iPhone 1: Price And Value
The iPhone 13 starts at $799 for a 128GB model with 4GB of RAM. You can upgrade to 256GB or 512GB of storage for $899 and $1,099, respectively. If you are a prolific mobile photographer or videographer, consider the storage upgrade you should also think about the iPhone 13 Pro as it offers a massive camera upgrade over the standard model.
The Galaxy S22 also starts at $799 for the 128GB model with 8GB of RAM. For $50, you can double your storage to 256GB, which is an easy sell if you take a lot of photos and videos, or are a mobile gamer.
While neither of these phones will find itself among our best budget phones, the $799 starting price is still a marked improvement over the $999 and up youll pay for the top-tier flagships.
The iPhone 13 retains a slight edge in longevity with roughly six years of software support compared to five years of security updates for the Galaxy S22 with four years of major OS updates. However, the Galaxy S22 has a superior triple-camera array, a more modern 120Hz display, and for those that need more than the base, storage gets a slight price advantage. Overall, I deem this a draw price or value alone shouldnt sway your purchasing decision between these phones.

iPhone 13 Vs Galaxy S2: Which Should You Buy
When you compare these two smartphones spec for spec, there’s some give or take for both. Gamers may prefer the Galaxy S22 for its brighter display and refresh rate, while photographers may prefer the more accurate photos produced by the iPhone 13. Videographers, on the other hand, would do well with the S22 for its 8K video capabilities.
Then there’s the ecosystem. Android works better with PC computers and Android-based tablets, while Apple’s iOS is a dream if all of your other devices are made by Apple. And let’s not forget the MagSafe feature that now comes built-in to all iPhones. I personally use MagSafe on a daily basis, so I can attest to its convenience. The ecosystem is an important aspect of any smartphone, and it may even be the deciding factor in your decision, so consider carefully.
You Should Get The iPhone 13 Pro If
Youre already in the Apple ecosystem
This point seems obvious, but its the biggest differentiator between the iPhone 13 Pro Max and Galaxy S22 Ultra. The former runs iOS the latter runs on Android. If youre already in Apples ecosystem , it makes sense to consider the iPhone 13 Pro Max. Itll fit right in with the rest of your devices and provide a seamless experience across them all.
You want to capture terrific video
For years, Apple has been the leader in the smartphone industry in terms of videography, and the iPhone 13 Pro Max only cements that further. The device still reigns supreme in comparison to the Galaxy S22 Ultra with its reliable stability, accurate color reproduction and overall clarity.
Coupled with various professional-grade features like Cinematic mode, macro videography and ProRes support, its clear that the iPhone 13 Pro Max remains the smartphone to buy if you plan on taking a lot of videos. Just be sure to get one with enough storage.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra Vs iPhone 13 Pro Max: Price
Being the best of the best from the world’s two biggest phone firms, neither of these handsets is what you would describe as cheap. In fact, they’re quite the opposite. But if you want the best, it’s going to cost you.
The iPhone 13 Pro Max launched in September with a starting price of £1049 / $1099 / AU$1849. That’s for the basic 128GB capacity. If you want more storage, again, you will have to pay for it.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Vs iPhone 13 Verdict
The iPhone 13 edges ahead of the Galaxy S22 in our flagship face-off, riding its faster chipset and superior battery life to victory. The two phones are fairly evenly matched on design and cameras, while the Galaxy S22 sports the better display. But it’s hard to overlook how well the iPhone 13 performs and how long it lasts on a charge.

iPhone 13 Vs Galaxy S22 Price: Different Smartphone Same Price
The iPhone 13 and Galaxy S22 both offer baseline models at $799. The price goes up from there if you choose higher storage capacities, but the cost difference is minimal. Since there’s basically no difference in price between these two phones, your decision will more likely be based on performance, display, or camera capabilities.
Galaxy S22 Ultra Vs iPhone 13 Pro Max: Software
For many of AP’s readers, this section alone determines their choice. We tend to prefer Android around these parts for obvious reasons, and Android 12 is its best yet. The Galaxy S22 Ultra ships with One UI 4.1, and aside from a few nitpicks, we’re big fans of the current software. It has its quirks especially when it comes to the setup process but it’s as good as it’s ever been. While Samsung’s implementation of Material You could use some work, there’s plenty to like. Improved widgets, Google Messages support, and all of the S Pen tricks in the world help make for a fantastic experience.
Where Samsung has really raised the bar is in its software updates. Not only does the company routinely beat Google to the punch on security patches by more than a week, but it’s now promising four major OS upgrades for its recent flagships including the S22 Ultra. Despite launching just four months after the Pixel 6, Samsung’s latest device is set to get Android 16, something Google’s 2021 series is not guaranteed to receive. Count in five years of security patches, and the S22 Ultra’s sky-high price is suddenly a whole lot easier to swallow.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Vs Apple iPhone 1: Which One Is For You
I personally think the Galaxy S22 is a better standalone device — better screen, better main camera, better productivity capabilities — but there’s no denying that the iPhone 13 Pro is surrounded by a better hardware and software ecosystem. The iOS 16 update that’s coming to the iPhone 13 this fall, for example, will bring some fun new tricks. It’s hard to see the Samsung Galaxy S22 gaining significant new features within months of Google announcing it at I/O.
The synergy between iPhone and Mac and iPad is also a bit better than the Galaxy S22’s connectivity with other Samsung products — although the South Korean tech giant is working hard on catching up. Ultimately, I think this showdown comes down to whether you prefer using Android or iOS, and both phones will serve you well if you either cannot or do not want to pay more than $699.
Samsung Galaxy S22
The entry level series in Samsung’s 2022 flagship line, the S22 may not be ultra or even a plus, but it still brings a brilliant screen, top-end SoC, and strong camera performance across the board.
Galaxy S22 Ultra Vs iPhone 13 Pro Max: Camera
These days, the best in mobile photography really comes from three companies: Google, Samsung, and Apple. And while the Pixel 6 Pro might retain its crown as the best point-and-shoot camera on the market, you can’t beat the pro-level power and flexibility offered by the S22 Ultra. It starts with the sheer amount of hardware offered here, as Samsung has included four lenses on the back:
- 108MP f/1.8 primary, OIS and PDAF
- 12MP f/2.2 ultra-wide
- 10MP f/2.4 3x optical zoom sensor with OIS
- 10MP f/4.9 10x optical zoom with OIS
That’s a lot of lenses, and for the most part, they all produce excellent shots. The primary sensor produces 12MP binned shots with fantastic color and detail. The two optical zoom lenses feature new sensors this year, offering a 3x lens and a 10x periscope. While they aren’t up to the quality level offered by the primary sensor, they’re big improvements over the S21 Ultra.
At this point, the iPhone’s stovetop-esque triple camera lineup is well known it’s certainly been memed to death online. Here’s what it’s working with, hardware-wise:
- 12 MP, f/1.5 primary, PDAF, OIS
- 12 MP, f/2.8 telephoto, PDAF, OIS, 3x optical zoom
- 12 MP, f/1.8 120 ultrawide, PDAF
For a lot of buyers, the camera performance is going to come down to personal preference, not tech specs alone. Samsung and Apple both employ custom photo processing to enhance their images, and which looks better to your eye will be entirely subjective.
