Of course Apple releases new iPhones in hopes that youll upgrade and give them more money. But after public outrage over Apples admittance that they slow down your older phones on purpose, the company is doing things a little different with their next iOS release.
Apple has announced that iOS 12 will basically be its most friendly mobile operating system for older model iPhones ever. Theyre focusing on performance issues with this latest release and have said that the new iOS will actually make your older iPhones, like the 6S, even faster than they are already.
Combine that with the fact that iPhone 6S owners still have 3 months to replace their battery with a brand new one, thanks to that aforementioned iPhone slowdown scandal, itll be like getting a new brand new iPhone for a total of $29.
So, heres to all the iPhone 6S users that will once again pass on Apples latest, expensive phone offerings and keep their cheaper beloved 3-year-old model. Hold onto it for as long as you can. I’ll be doing exactly the same.

While older iPhone devices may not be able to support the latest version of the iOS operating system, it does not mean that they cannot support the last compatible version of the application that you want. To download previously installed applications, do the following.

Head on over to the Purchased tab and click on My Purchases to find all of the applications you have bought over the years with the Apple ID you are signed in with.Step 4. No purchasing a thousand-dollar iPhone at full price. No monthly fees to payoff that full-priced phone through a loan. No need to trade in a phone you havent fully paid off. After 2 years of service, that normally priced $649 iPhone 6S was fully yours to keep, and all it cost you was $199.
With the base model iPhone XS starting at $999 and the high-end iPhone XS Max model topping out at $1,449, theres no way Id possibly pay to upgrade when I last paid $199 for my phone.

Most likely yes, by the time 2022 arrives, we will have iPhone 14 on our hands and two new major feature updates as well. Apple ideally supports devices for 5 years and some get an additional year of support if they have enough processing power. Ideally, the 5 years support will end this year for iPhone 7 with the release of iOs 15. However, considering the iPhone 7s processing power and the fact that the iPhone 6s has gotten 6 feature updates and is running the latest iOS 14, we suspect an additional year of updates for the iPhone 7 as well.
This grace of one year could very well be cut short if Apple decides to revamp the OS and introduce resource-heavy features which would slow down the iPhone 7. In that case, 2021 could mean the end of the iPhone 7.

There’s a difference between hardware support and software support.
Typically, Apple provides hardware support for 5 years after manufacture on their products.
The iPhone 5S is not currently listed as ‘vintage’. However, it’s possible the list may be updated shortly, as the phone was discontinued 5 years ago.The iPhone 6 was discontinued 2 years ago, so will still receive hardware support until 2022.
As for software support: obviously, the devices will not be offered new OS updates, but in the event of a major security flaw, they may receive a patch to fix the problem.
The phones will of course continue to work as they are. Apps will not be updated if they require newer OS versions than are present.
