iPhone 11 Vs iPhone 8 Plus: Price
The iPhone 11 just had a price cut, bringing it down to £599 / $599 / AU$999 with 64GB of storage. That may not be enough if you want to have access to large libraries of files on it directly, but you can step up to 128GB for £649 / $649 / AU$1079 or 256GB for £749 / $749 / AU$1249.
The iPhone 8 Plus is no longer sold new by Apple, so while it’s occasionally possible to find a new models sold through a phone retailer, you’ll mostly be looking at pre-owned or refurbished models. The iPhone 8 Plus was available in 64GB or 256GB, and you should be looking at around half the price of iPhone for one in a good condition.
The downside, of course, is that this won’t necessarily come with any warranty some second-hand stores do provide them, but if you buy privately you’ll be looking at paying to repair any problems yourself.

Other Things To Consider: Capacity Dual
Capacity: Both the iPhone XR and 8 Plus still have 64GB models available. At launch, they had 256GB memory capacities and the iPhone XR had a third memory option of 128GB. However, now that the iPhone 11 devices are out, the 256GB option has been discontinued and currently, the iPhone XR and 8 Plus come in 64GB and 128GB. This is not bad per se 128GB is commonly considered to be the “sweet spot” as far as storage goes. That’s because 64GB may not be enough to hold all your photos and 4K videos, 256GB may be too extravagant.

3D Touch: The iPhone 8 Plus’ screen is pressure-sensitive, and has a feature called 3D Touch. By tapping a tad harder with your finger, you can preview links, apps and messages before opening them. The big news here is twofold: while the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus retain the same sizes and core screen technology as their predecessors, the iPhone X is Apples first smartphone to both use OLED and switch to the longer and narrower 19.5:9 aspect ratio .
From a visual standpoint, OLED is far superior to LCD. It delivers a much higher contrast ratio and power savings. It also has the highest screen resolution of any iPhone – though not quite at the 2880 x 1440 of rivals. The flipside is OLED does pose the risk of burn-in over time and youll see a slight Blue tint if you view the display from an angle .

The headline feature of the 12MP dual sensor on the rear camera is the enhanced bokeh mode dubbed Portrait Lighting.
The abilities here are pretty astounding, and show how powerful the A11 Bionic chip is inside being able to algorithmically work out the contours of the face and change the lighting dynamically is impressive.
This can be done either while the picture is being taken or after, via the gallery. It’s a powerful tool, albeit not one that really impressed anyone we showed it to.
And that’s kind of indicative of the iPhone 8 Plus as a whole while the overall experience is smoothed and enhanced, the headline features aren’t really there. Portrait Lighting is, well, fine and we almost feel guilty for not evangelizing about it more, given how much intelligence has gone into creating it.
But taking a Portrait mode picture takes some setting up as it is so achieving the level of quality where Portrait Lighting makes a big difference to the outcome is rare.
However, the new Portrait mode is one of the places where the iPhone 8 Plus is a significant upgrade over its predecessor it’s brighter, faster to recognize the object you’re trying to snap, and it’s also got that Portrait Lighting feature, which isnt available on the older models.

Inside, the differences arent so stark. Both phones pack the same processor, Apples 64-bit A11 Bionic system-on-a-chip with an embedded M11 motion coprocessor. Both also have a dedicated neural engine to let AI processing happen on the device.

The A11 Bionic chip and M11 coprocessor will enable smooth AR experiences in iOS 11.
The A11 Bionic has a whopping six cores: Two for high-performance computing, and four efficiency cores for tasks that dont require as much performanceor as much power. Apple says the A11 is 75 percent faster than the previous generation.
Our benchmarks between the two phones are pretty similar. Obviously, the A11 Bionic is faster than last years A10 Fusion, but whats of note hereand not surprisingis that the iPhone X essentially performs the same as the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. These three phones have the same processor, so if all you want in a new iPhone is faster performance and you could not care less about new features like Face ID or the cameras, get an iPhone 8 Plus.

You’d expect a phone packing in three years of design changes, hardware improvements and software enhancements to be a significant upgrade over its predecessor, and that’s what Apple has delivered with the iPhone 12 vs. the iPhone 8.

The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are almost identical when it comes down to specs. The latter has a 5.5-inch display instead of a 4.7-inch screen and has Apple’s more advanced cameras that allow you to take fancy portrait photos and zoom into objects . It has a slightly bigger battery, too, but otherwise almost everything else is the same.
No, there still isn’t a headphone jack, but I’ve long moved on to using Bluetooth headphones. Apple includes a set of earbuds in the box that work over its Lightning port, however, so you’re not left out in the cold. You can always grab an adapter, too.
The stereo speakers, which fire sound from the top and bottom are louder and are easily among the best on a smartphone I’ve used. It’s really pleasing to sit on the couch and watch a TV show on the iPhone without hearing sound coming out of just one side of the phone.
The new iPhone 8 models feature a shiny glass back panel instead of aluminum, which Apple has used in almost all of its iPhones. The glass panel enables support for wireless charging, a feature Apple hasn’t ever offered before.
