Step 1: Press Volume up and release.

How To Dfu Restore iPhone X iPhone 8 Or iPhone 8 Plus
Step 1 Connect your iPhone to computer which have iTunes installed. And then run iTunes.
Step 2 Turn off your iPhone firstly. Then press and hold the power button, which is on the right side of your iPhone for 3 seconds.
Step 3 Press and hold the volume down button and dont release the power button.
Step 4 Keep holding the two buttons for 10 seconds. Then release power button but keep holding the volume down button for about 5 seconds.

Normally, putting your iPhone 12 into recovery mode and then restoring or updating it using iTunes should fix the problems youre facing. However, if the problem persists after exiting Recovery Mode, you can take it up a notch and try using DFU mode. For those who arent aware, DFU is a lower level restore capability than Recovery mode. Most advanced users resort to this mode when they want to get their iPhones to communicate with iTunes without the software trying to update to the latest iOS version.

These instructions work for all iPhone models before iPhone 7 , along with all models of iPad and iPod touch.
Turn Off your iPad or iPod touch if it isn’t already.
If the screen stays black while illuminated, that’s it! Your iPad or iPod touch should now be in DFU mode.
At this point, iTunes or Finder should show you an alert saying it has detected your iPad or iPod touch and will allow it to be restored.
Reminder: If you see any logos on your device, you might be in Recovery Mode, but you’re not in DFU mode. If Recovery Mode works, great. If not, try for DFU Mode again.

If you enabled DFU mode and want to manually exit out of it, here’s how it’s done.
Your iPhone should now have exited DFU recovery mode.

Follow the steps below to enter DFU Mode on iPhone X, XS, XS Max and iPhone XR.
1. Plug iPhone into computer and open iTunes.
2. Quickly, press and release the Volume Up button > press and release the Volume Down button.
3. Immediately, press and hold the Side button .
4. As the screen turns black, keep holding the Side button and press and hold the Volume Down button.

Boot Your iPhone Into Dfu Mode
Now comes the fun part. While your iPhone 12, 12 mini, 12 Pro, or 12 Pro Max is connected to your computer with Finder or iTunes open, perform the following button presses on your iPhone.
If you perform 13 above only, the recovery mode prompt will still open in Finder or iTunes on your computer; only it’s strictly for recovery mode, not DFU mode. Recovery mode communicates with your iPhone’s bootloader , while DFU mode talks directly with the bootrom . So whenever recovery mode fails to address your issue, DFU mode can save the day since it’s starting from the hardware side instead of the software side.
Your Mac has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used.
If you see the Apple logo appear on your iPhone’s screen at any time, wait for it to load up iOS 14 on the iPhone, then unlock the device, put your passcode back in, wait for Finder or iTunes to recognize it, then try Step 5 again.

The forced restart procedure described above can help if an iPhone is freezing, throwing up errors, or has stopped responding completely. DFU mode on the other hand restores an iPhone if a restart or entering standard Recovery Mode doesn’t solve the problem you’re experiencing.
DFU mode lets the device interface with Finder or iTunes, update the firmware, and restore the OS without automatically installing the last downloaded version. It’s useful for installing older versions of iOS if a beta persistently hangs your phone, or if a jailbreak goes bad.
