Local Backup Encryption Issue
In September 2016, it was discovered that the encryption of local iOS backups made with is weaker for iOS 10 devices than for devices running iOS 9. Russian software firm discovered that the iOS 10 backup process skips several security checks, making it “approximately 2,500 times” faster to try passwords, enabling 6 million password tries per second compared to the 2,400 password tries per second for the same process ElcomSoft has used on iOS 9. The firm stated that the impact is “severe”. Apple acknowledged the problem, said it planned to issue a security update, but also stated that backups were not affected. The iOS 10.1 update subsequently fixed the issue.
Use Apple Id Without A Credit Card

This means you or your child will only be able to download free apps. If youre feeling nice, you can top the accounts up with iTunes gift cards. This will let you control their spending habits.
Factory Reset iPhone 7 On Device
Factory resetting your phone using the settings is a straightforward method.
To do so on your iPhone 7/7 Plus, go to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings and enter the passcode to confirm erasing. This step will require a password if you have set one and will delete all the data on your phone.

The iPhone 7 And iPhone 7 Plus Have Touch Id Which Works Faster And More Reliably Than Face Id On The iPhone X
The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus both have the Touch ID fingerprint sensor, which is used to unlock the phone and authenticate Apple Pay purchases. It’s also used to sign into some apps. It’s fast and works reliably well.
Since the iPhone X lacks a home button, that phone has Face ID, which performs the same tasks and is actually even more secure than Touch ID, according to Apple, but it isn’t quite as fast in practice, and doesn’t work as reliably. As an iPhone X owner, I find myself needing to manually enter my passcode more often than I’d like.

Make It A Dedicated Music Player
You dont need an active cell connection to make use of your old iPhone. Just connect to Wi-Fi and use it as a dedicated music streamer for Apple Music, Spotify, Pandora, or whatever else you like. Typical old phone problems like poor battery life, a disappointing camera, or a less-than-stunning display matter a lot less when your phone is plugged in at home, pumping out tunes over a Bluetooth speaker.

Zoom Without Using The Camera App
Youre now able to zoom and view something far away without opening the camera app. You can do this by taking advantage of the Magnifier.
All you need to do is go into Settings, General, Accessibility, then Magnifier and change the setting to On. Youre then able to triple-click the Home button to activate the feature.
When youre using it, use the white circle button to capture an image and zoom in and out to get a closer look.
In case triple-clicking doesnt bring up the Magnifier, go to Settings, General, Accessibility, and then Accessibility Shortcut to modify it to the Magnifier.
Explosions And Smoke Emissions
In a similar manner with the now-discontinued Samsung Galaxy Note 7, there have been reports of the iPhone 7 exploding or emitting smoke. In September 2016, one device reportedly exploded while in transit, while another one had a “malfunction that caused the battery to blow up internally”. Another report about an iPhone 7 emitting smoke and “melting” was published in October 2016.

Zoom With The 2x Telephoto Lens
The regular iPhone 7 camera has the standard wide-angle lens, similar to previous iPhone models. But the iPhone 7 Plus has two separate rear-facing camera lenses. This is what makes the 7 Plus such an amazing camera.
The first lens is the standard wide-angle lens, which is perfect for capturing a wide view of your scene.
The other lens, which youll only find on the iPhone 7 Plus, is a 2x telephoto lens. This lens allows you to capture a closer view of your subject without having to physically move any closer.
With other models of iPhone, youd have to attach a third-party telephoto lens like those from olloclip, Moment or ExoLens onto the built-in wide angle lens in order to achieve this telephoto view of your subject.
When shooting with the iPhone 7 Plus, its easy to switch between the built-in wide-angle and telephoto lenses.
When you open the camera app, youll notice that it says 1x at the bottom of the frame. That means youre currently using the wide-angle lens.
To switch to telephoto mode, simply tap the 1x icon. It will now say 2x which indicates that youre using the 2x telephoto lens.
Selecting the 2x option gives you a closer view of your subject. This is great for situations where its difficult or impossible to walk closer to the subject.
In the example above, I would have had to stand in the middle of a busy street in order to get the closer view.
Telephoto lenses appear to compress space, making the subject and the background look closer together.
Customize Your App Icons
You can make give your home screen a more personal look, as developers are now able to offer you a choice of App icons. Although, you will have to rely on the developers to actually provide different options.
Currently, the most notable apps to use this feature are MLB.com At Bat, and the NHL App, which allows you to change the icon to your favorite team. Hopefully, in the future, well see new apps follow this trend.

Enable Or Disable Haptics
On the iPhone 7, nearly everything you do will be accompanied by a light buzz or vibration. If you use 3D Touch a lot, you are probably already familiar with this feeling. These are your smartphones system haptics, or haptic feedback, which let you know your actions are being recognized. If you dont like the constant albeit brief movements, you can turn them off by going to Settings > Sounds & Haptics and toggling the System Haptics off.
Turn Your Keyboard Into A Trackpad
This isnt a new feature for the iPhone 7 or 7 Plus, but its still a pretty handy one for 3D Touch-capable iPhones. When youre typing a note, email or message and want to move the cursor either to correct a typo or select a word, you could place your finger where you want the cursor to be. But that option lacks precision, and it can be hard to see exactly where your cursor is, since your finger is in the way. Instead, just do a hard press on the on-screen keyboard: the keys will disappear, and youve got a MacBook-style trackpad.
Now you can slide your finger around to move the cursor anywhere on the screen. Once the cursor is hovering over the word you want, hard press again to select that word hard-pressing twice selects the whole sentence.

Optimize Apple Music Storage
The iOS 10 update now allows you to optimize the amount of storage you use up in the Music app.
Go to Settings, Music, and scroll down till you see the Optimize Storage menu. Open it, and youll be allowed to choose how much of your storage space will be used up by your music.
Be careful, if you go low on space, your phone will delete tracks that you havent listen to in a while.
How To Reset iPhone 7/7 Plus
But what if the power button itself is unresponsive? Or worse – what if youre holding a frozen iPhone 7 in your hands and the entire device seems unresponsive? If your iPhone 7 refuses to obey your commands to the point that you cant even turn it off, youll need to take it up a notch. This is where the reset comes in handy.
First, go for a forced restart, also known as the iPhone 7 soft reset. Unlike earlier generation iPhones, one of the biggest changes to the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus is the removal of the physical home button.
This means theres a new set of commands to allow you to force your device to restart. If you simply hold down the home button and the power button like you used to with earlier generations, all youd be doing is taking a screenshot of your iPhone 7.

Find The Camera Shortcut
This is another iOS 10-centric tip that could come as a surprise if you haven’t really explored the iOS Apple launched last fall. iOS 9s lock screen used to feature a camera icon that allowed you to access your phones camera without having to first unlock it ideal for grabbing a quick photo you dont want to miss while fumbling to unlock your phone and launch the camera app. That icons gone in iOS 10, though Apple has made it easier to jump straight to your camera.
From the lock screen, simply swipe left. The camera app will launch on your iPhone, ready to take any photo you want with the iPhone 7s vastly improved camera.
Make The Button Feel Like A Button
It definitely looks like a button but, is it doesnt click. Theres a good reason why it doesnt click. You iPhone 7 and 7 Plus uses haptic feedback instead of clicking.
Thats what the techy say instead of, it vibrates to mimic the feel of pressing a button.
Whats cool, is that you can customize the vibration intensity to make it more suited to your tastes. Go intoSettings, General, and then Home Button. Here you can toggle between different levels of feedback.
If you want to turn it off completely Go into settings and select sounds & haptics.

If you have a phone from 2018’s iPhone XS generation, it could be worth upgrading to the iPhone 13. The iPhone XS is more than three years old, which means it might be starting to feel sluggish.
