iPhone 11 in 2022 – worth buying? (Review)

Every smart device now requires you to agree to a series of terms and conditions before you can use it contracts that no one actually reads. Its impossible for us to read and analyze every single one of these agreements. But were going to start counting exactly how many times you have to hit agree to use devices when we review them since these are agreements most people dont read and definitely cant negotiate. Were starting with the iPhone 11 and 11 Pro, which will serve as our baseline.

To use an iPhone, you have to agree to:

  • The Apple terms of service agreement, which you can have sent to you by email
  • Apples warranty agreement, which you can have sent to you by email

These agreements are not negotiable, and you cannot use the phone at all if you dont agree to them.

The iPhone also prompts you to set up Apple Cash and Apple Pay at setup, which further means you have to agree to:

  • The Apple Cash agreement, which specifies that services are actually provided by Green Dot Bank and Apple Payments, Inc, and further consists of the following agreements:
  • The Apple Cash terms and conditions
  • The electronic communications agreement
  • Apple Payments, Inc, license

If you add a credit card to Apple Pay, you have to agree to:

  • The terms from your credit card provider, which do not have an option to be emailed

Final tally: two mandatory agreements, six optional agreements for Apple Cash, one optional agreement for Apple Pay

Taking Photos With The iPhone 12

The photos taken on an iPhone are calibrated with forensic detail, with the aim of capturing the emotion of a scene. It works magnificently, almost all the time, and it can seduce you into thinking youre a rather good photographer.

Then theres video, long a standout for Apple. Here it takes a big step forward with the arrival of Dolby Vision HDR recording, a first. Thats available in frame rates of 30fps and it looks pretty terrific. Or you can shoot in 4K at the cinematic 24fps rate, 30fps or 60fps.

Should You Upgrade To The iPhone 13 Or Not

The short answer is that most iPhone 12 and iPhone 11 owners can probably skip this upgrade since their phone is probably still in great shape, and there isn’t a whole lot that meaningfully changes the experience.

But those who own older models, particularly the iPhone XS and earlier, will likely have a lot to gain when it comes to camera features and battery life. Apple’s older iPhones dating back to the iPhone 6S generation still support iOS 15, which launched earlier this week , but they won’t feel nearly as fast and powerful as more recent iPhone models.

Here’s a closer look at how the iPhone 13 compares to its predecessors.

Should You Buy The iPhone 11 In 2022 Why It Is A Good Purchase

iPhone 11 Unboxing

The iPhone 11 used to be one of the best iPhones available. But is that still true in 2022? Here’s how the phone’s holding up over two years later.

The iPhone 11 was one of the best smartphones available in 2019. Over two years later, is Apple’s aging handset still worth buying in 2022? The smartphone world is constantly moving forward. New phones are regularly released, even newer models are always on the horizon, and that leaves little time for looking back at older generations. If the iPhone 13 is out and the iPhone 14 is on the horizon, why should someone stop and think about the iPhone 11?

While that’s what it often feels like, there are many reasons why ‘old’ phones are still worth keeping in the conversation. If you want a high-end smartphone but have a limited budget, buying an older model is enticing. Older flagship phones are typically more capable than current budget models. And after a year or two of price cuts, they usually cost about the same.

This is a situation the iPhone 11 finds itself in. Released in September 2019, the iPhone 11 is far from the newest iPhone available today. It’s two generations old, has an aging processor, and is no longer the hot new thing on the market. But it’s also a smartphone Apple still sells on its website. You can easily visit ‘apple.com’ and buy a brand new iPhone 11 for $499. But should you?

Processor And Battery Life

With fast charging and improved battery life, the iPhone 11 and 11 Pro models are an improvement from earlier models. Although both models have enough capacity to last the entire day without charging, the 11 Pros battery is slightly better than that of the iPhone 11. Both models can also be used with wireless charging.

When it comes to the processing power of the iPhone 11 and 11 Pro, both are packed with Apples A13 Bionic -processor. The A13 Bionic -chip makes these two phones almost as powerful as a laptop, so you can enjoy 4K videos, augmented reality and demanding gaming.

iPhone 11 In : Worth It

I have been a hardcore Android user for 6 years but what most people dont know is that the first-ever smartphone I had used was the iPhone 4s. The day I started using the iPhone 4s, I knew it wasnt for me. The iPhone 4s had incredible hardware but lacked the software freedom which most Android smartphones had back then. After the 4s, I shifted to the Samsung Galaxy S5 followed by the S6, OnePlus 3T, OnePlus 5T, OnePlus 6T, and now I am back to using the iPhone 11 and it changed my perception about iPhones. Yes, I bought a year-old iPhone and no, I am not mad.

The iPhone 11 is a year-old smartphone which still costs the same as current Android flagships but it is still a great device to consider in 2021 for the following reasons:

Should You Buy iPhone 11 In 2020 Wrapping Up

This is the ONLY reason youd get the iPhone 12 over the iPhone 11, though. Everything else being equal, the iPhone 12 is not that much of an update over the iPhone 11. Compared to the iPhone X or iPhone 8 Plus, yeah, the iPhone 12 is a major update.

But compared to the iPhone 11, the iPhone 12 is only a minor update it has 5G, an OLED display, and slightly tweaked internals. To the VAST majority of users out there, the difference between using an iPhone 11 and iPhone 12 will be negligible.

Unless you want 5G. Then things are different. If you want 5G on your iPhone, you have to get the iPhone 12 or the iPhone 13.

Me personally? Im kind of on the fence right now. Apples iPhone 13 isnt a massive update but it does add in some significant updates and improvements over the iPhone 12.

For this reason, the idea of getting a discounted iPhone 11 now and waiting until 2022 for the iPhone 14 is starting to look very attractive to me. By that time, 5G will be more established and I will know more about its actual benefits and how they affect me as a user.

The bottom line here is fairly simple, however: if youre looking at an iPhone 11, and you want to save some money, the phone is still perfectly viable in 2021 and beyond. The iPhone 12/13 are great, but they are more expensive.

If you not fussed about 5G, get the iPhone 11. Thats probably what Im going to do anyway

iPhone 13 Vs iPhone 1: Performance And 5g

iPhone 11 in 2021 – worth buying? (Review)

The iPhone 13 supports 5G, which the iPhone 11 lacks. That means you’ll be able to tap into faster 5G networks that continue to grow across the country and the world.

In terms of raw performance, the A15 Bionic once again delivers to be the fastest chip inside a phone. This 5nm chip should vastly outperform the 7nm A13 Bionic in iPhone 11, especially when it comes to graphics-intensive games and more demanding tasks like video editing. However, the A13 Bionic is fine for everyday use.

On Geekbench 5, for example, the iPhone 13 scored 4,129 and 1,684 on the multi-core and single-core tests. The iPhone 11 scored 3,251 and 1,333 respectively. And it took the iPhone 13 25.9 seconds to transcode a 4K video to 1080p on our video editing test, compared to 45 seconds for the iPhone 11.

The bigger performance leap comes in with the 16-core Neural engine in the iPhone 13, up from 8 cores on the iPhone 11. This aids everything from image signal processing to the Live Text camera feature in iOS 15.

If You Want A Smaller Phone

The iPhone 11 isnt the biggest phone in Apples lineup, but its far from small. At 6.1 inches, its only 0.4 inches smaller than the gargantuan iPhone 11 Pro Max. The iPhone 11 is still easier to hold, but probably not as much as you might think when compared to the iPhone 11 Pro Max.

With that being said, if youre looking for the most pocketable phone that Apple makes, youre going to actually have to pay more to get the non-Max iPhone 11 Pro. At just 5.8 inches, it feels significantly different in the hand than either the iPhone 11 or iPhone 11 Pro Max.

If having the smallest iPhone is the most important thing to you, then without question, youll want to opt for the iPhone 11 Pro.

Is The iPhone 11 Worth It

If youve made it this far into the post, you should have a pretty good idea whether the iPhone 11 is still worth buying in 2022. Its clear the iPhone 11 is a big enough improvement over the iPhone XR that its worth upgrading, especially if youre coming from something like the iPhone 7 or 8.

When compared against the latest iPhone 12, the iPhone 11 isnt missing all too much, only an OLED display panel, flatter edges, and a more powerful processor. But seeing as how the iPhone 11 is about half the price of the iPhone 12 , its most certainly the better value in this case.

If you can live without these things, then yes, the iPhone 11 is definitely worth buying in 2022 and will provide you with a great experience for years to come. The best part? Because of the recent release of the iPhone 13, more and more people are selling their iPhone 11 for cheap on Swappa. This makes it really easy to find a great deal on an iPhone 11, all you have to do is head on over to Swappa to see how much you can save. iPhone 13 Vs iPhone 7 7 Plus

The iPhone 7.

The iPhone 7 is a five-year-old phone, and it shows in everything from the processor to the camera and storage space. If you have an iPhone 7, it’s time to upgrade.

The iPhone 7 runs on an aging A10 Fusion processor, which doesn’t even have a neural engine and is several years behind Apple’s latest technology. The regular iPhone 7 has a single-lens camera without Portrait mode, while the 7 Plus has two cameras. But those cameras still lack many modern features like Night mode and Portrait Lighting, which adds specific lighting effects to your portraits.

Similar to the iPhone 8, the iPhone 7 series includes Touch ID and comes in either 4.7- or 5.5-inch screen sizes. But since the iPhone 7 is a year older than the iPhone 8, it’s also missing wireless charging, which means you must plug it in to charge and can’t use a charging pad.

If you’ve owned an iPhone 7 for several years, your phone is probably bursting at the seams since it comes with substantially less storage space. The entry-level iPhone 7 only comes with 32GB of space, which is a quarter of capacity available on the cheapest standard iPhone 13.

See our table below for a closer look at how all of Apple’s iPhones from the last five years compare.

It’s The Screen Folks

Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max (64GB/256GB/512GB) Original Apple ...

Like the iPhone X, and iPhone XS series before it, the iPhone 11 Pro series includes an OLED that’s second-to-none when it comes to Apple handsets. The iPhone 11 keeps with an LCD.

The iPhone 11 Pro’s display, called Super Retina XDR, includes two new record levels of brightness, hitting up to 800 nits when you’re out in the sun, and up to 1,200 nits when you’re viewing extreme dynamic range content. Apple calls it the “brightest, sharpest iPhone display ever.”

While it’s easy to argue OLED bests LCD, it doesn’t mean the latter found on the iPhone 11 is somehow terrible. Instead, its true-to-life all-screen design makes everything look amazing, no matter your environment. The iPhone 11 adjusts the white balance automatically to match the color temperature of the light around you.

Faster With Better Battery Life

All of the phones feature the new A13 Bionic processor, which Apple says makes them the fastest yet. And battery life is better, too. Apple claims the iPhone 11 gives you one hour longer battery life than the iPhone XR, and the iPhone 11 Pro lasts four hours longer than the iPhone XS. Meanwhile, the iPhone Pro Max offers an extra five hours compared to the iPhone XS Max.

iOS 13

All of Apple’s new iPhones run iOS 13, the latest version of the Apple operating system. It has a number of notable new features, including dark mode, which makes using your phone in low light conditions much easier on the eye. You can also attach photos and files to email straight from the mail app. And if you can’t afford a new iPhone, fear not. iOS 13 will be available as a free download to anyone with an iPhone 6S or above on 19 September.

iPhone 13 Vs iPhone X

Apple’s iPhone X.

You can feel confident about upgrading to the iPhone 13 if you have an iPhone X. This phone launched in 2017 and is falling behind in big ways when it comes to speed, battery life and camera features.

Let’s start with the performance. The iPhone X runs on a much older A11 Bionic chip that’s now four years old, while the iPhone 13 Pro runs on Apple’s new A15 Bionic processor. That new processor is way ahead of the A11 chip, which only has a two-core neural engine compared to the A15 Bionic’s 16-core neural engine.

The iPhone’s neural engine is what powers tasks that rely on machine learning and artificial intelligence, which is increasingly becoming a bigger part of the iPhone experience. Things like app suggestions in the App Library and Apple’s Translate app rely on machine learning to function, which indicates that the iPhone X may struggle to keep up with newer capabilities.

The iPhone X also has a dual-lens camera similar to that of the iPhone XS, meaning it’s missing the iPhone 13’s new features in addition to Night mode, Deep Fusion and the ability to control depth and blur levels in Portrait mode. Like the iPhone XS, you’re only getting a 7-megapixel front camera compared to a 12-megapixel selfie camera on Apple’s newer phones.

And of course, there’s the benefit of getting 5G support, more storage space, a refreshed design and the option to use MagSafe accessories on the iPhone 13.

iPhone 12 Vs iPhone 1: Design

Both iPhones share very much the same design language, but the iPhone 12 has the edge for being a slightly sleeker and more aesthetically exciting device.

The iPhone 11’s design is very similar to what Apple’s been doing since the iPhone X, which a nearly all-screen front , rounded corners, curved aluminium sides, and a glossy glass back. It’s available in six colours: Purple, Yellow, Green, Black, White, and Red.

Its 150.9×75.7×8.3mm dimensions mean its certainly not small in the hand, and it weighs 194 grams . It’s water resistant for immersion up to a depth of 2 metres for up to 30 minutes.

The iPhone 12 includes the exact same size of screen , but its dimensions are just 146.7×71.5×7.4mm and it weighs noticeably less at 162 grams .

The differences in size might be slight, but they add to a major difference in volume. That, plus the lower weight, makes a big difference to usability it’s easier to manipulate in one hand safely.

The difference in size is largely down to the iPhone 12 having thinner bezels at the edges of the screen, plus flat sides instead of curved. This means sharper edges where the sides meet the back, but they’re perfectly comfortable to hold there’s a subtle curve to them. Again, the sides are aluminium, and the back is glossy glass. The iPhone 12 comes in Blue, Green, Red, White, and Black colours.

There’s no question the iPhone 12 is the winner on design, not that the iPhone 11 is poor by any means.
