How Does Auto Shazam Work

Once you enable Auto Shazam, you will see a red bar across the top of your iPhone screen that says Shazam. This is an obvious indicator that the feature is turned on, in case you arent sure.

While Auto Shazam is enabled, it will continue to capture songs that are playing near you, just like how the Shazam app does when you tap its button.

Ask Siri To Start Shazam

Another way to use Shazams music-recognition feature is to ask Siri: “What song is playing?” Siri will discover and reveal additional track information via a notification banner, similar to the Control Center method. Additionally, you can tell Siri play more songs like this, and it will queue up similar tracks in Apple Music.

Evoking Siri to discover music is faster than opening Control Center and tapping the Shazam icon. On the other hand, by using Siri, you wont be able to disguise the fact that you dont know a song. But however you access Shazam, the app can help you avoid feeling like an out-of-touch old fogey when it comes to what the kids are listening to these days.

Shazam Has Been Used In Ios Control Center Over 1 Billion Times

Music recognition app Shazam has passed another milestone, with Apple saying that its Control Center option alone being used in excess of a billion times on iOS.

Apple-owned Shazam passed one billion songs being recognized every month in June 2021, but now it has had that many through Control Center. It was first added to Control Center as part of a beta iOS 14.2 in September 2020.

Shazam users have the choice of launching the app, asking Siri what song is playing, or adding a control to Control Center. Once a user has gone through Settings, Control Center, and added Shazam, it is available with a single swipe down, and tap.

However, that’s still a series of steps most users may not know to do, or bother to do. So passing a billion songs recognized via this Control Center option alone, is significant.

Reportedly, the top ten most Shazamed songs identified via the Control Center, from most to least popular are:

    • “Talking To The Moon” by Bruno Mars
    • “Astronaut In The Ocean” by Masked Wolf
    • “MONTERO ” by Lil Nas X
    • “Beggin” by Maneskin
    • “Another Love” by Tom Odell
    • “Runaway” by AURORA
    • “Dick” by StarBoi3 Feat. Doja Cat
    • “Arcade” by Duncan Laurence

If you scroll down from this tab, youll see your Recent Shazams and Playlists For You, which generates playlists based on what youve searched for in the past.

Thats the essence of the app, but there are a few other features worth mentioning. Most notably, theres the Auto Shazam feature, which you can run in the background, allowing Shazam to identify songs as you go about your business. To activate it, simply tap and hold the Shazam button after launching the app. You can also activate the feature by holding the Shazam app icon on the Home screen and then tapping Auto Shazam.
