How to Find Hidden Photos on iPhone (iOS 14)

This app lets you not only password protect the app, but also create locked photo albums with their own passwords. While you can’t take photos or videos directly in the app, importing and exporting to and from the Photos app is easy. This app also will take a photo of anyone trying to break into the app.

Hiding Photos And Your Privacy

Before iOS 14, iPadOS 14 and macOS 11 Big Sur, hiding a photo or video removed it temporarily from the Photos tabs. As a result, you could only see it in the special Hidden album under the Albums tab. But if anyone using your device knew where to look, they could easily go to the Albums tab and find your Hidden album listed there underneath the heading Other Albums.

iOS 14 lets you hide the Hidden album itself. This makes it temporarily vanish from the Albums tab and the Utilities section in the new Photos sidebar on iPad. The only place the Hidden album ever shows up is the redesigned image picker available in third-party apps that use it.

When you hide the Hidden album, it only appears in the system-wide image picker in other apps

Follow along with our tutorial embedded right ahead as we walk you through the steps to hide the Hidden album in Photos for iPhone and iPad from plain sight.

Your iPhone lets you add selected photos to a hidden album in the Photos app.

Before iOS 14, this album would simply be listed as “Hidden Album” next to all your other albums in Photos, which was not a very inconspicuous solution. But now, you can also go into your Settings app and turn off the Photos app’s ability to even display your hidden album.

First, you’ll need to choose what photos to hide:

  • Go to the Photos app and open the image to be hidden, or select multiple images to be hidden.
  • In the bottom-left corner, tap the “Share” icon, which looks like a box with an arrow sticking up out of it.

Option : Lock Them Down In The Notes App

While the above option “hides” your photos and videos from everywhere in the main Photos app except the newly created “Hidden” album, you may want to go a step beyond so there are zero traces of the photos and videos you’d like to keep secret. This can be done in the Notes app.

In the Photos app, select the media you’d like to hide, tap on the share icon, then select “Add to Notes” from the first row of activities. You can add the media to an existing note or create a new one. If it’s a Live Photo, it will lose its Live Photo abilities when added to a note, so keep that in mind. Hit “Save” to finish.

Once that’s done, in the Photos app, you can now trash all the media you imported into Notes and then empty your trash to get rid of all of the photos. Next, open up the Notes app, swipe left on the note/s to show the options , then hit the lock icon to keep it from prying eyes.

If it’s your first time using the lock feature, you’ll need to create a password. If it’s not, you’ll need to enter the password you already made for Notes. You can also opt to use Touch ID or Face ID to lock and unlock notes. After that’s done, actually lock the note by tapping on “Lock Now” at the bottom of the folder or by hitting the lock icon up top in the note itself.
