If you reinstall an app, wipe your iPhone or iPad, or move to a new device, any in-app purchases you made on your old device wont show up. But some in-app purchases are permanent, and you can restore them if you know where to look.

This only applies to purchases you make within apps. If you purchased a paid app from the App Store, you can just revisit the App Store and reinstall the app. As long as youre signed in with the same Apple ID you purchased the app with, youll be able to install it again on any device.

    What Is A Consumable In

Here are examples of consumable in-app purchases:

    • Game currency, such as coins or gems
    • Extra health points in a game
    • A package of exports to a new file format

You need to buy these items every time you want them, and you can’t download them again for free. If you remove and reinstall an app or install an app on a new device, you might lose your consumable purchases. For example, if you install a game on your iPod touch that you started playing on your iPhone, the game levels sync, but extra health that you bought on your iPhone doesn’t sync.

    Creating A Sandbox User

In App Store Connect, click App Store Connect in the top left corner of the window to get back to the main menu. Select Users and Roles, then click the Sandbox Testers tab. Click + next to the Tester title.

Fill out the information and click Save when youre done. You can make up a first and last name for your test user, but you must use a real email address as Apple will send a verification email to the address. Once you receive that email, be sure to click the link in it to verify your address.

The email address you enter should also NOT already be associated with an Apple ID account. Hint: if you have a gmail account, you can simply use an address alias instead of having to create a brand new account.

Note: Unfortunately, testing a new purchase of a non-consumable IAP requires a new sandbox tester each time. Repeated purchases using the same sandbox tester will be treated as restoring an already purchased item, so any code specific to new purchases will not be exercised.

If multiple test runs through new purchase code are necessary and your email provider does not support qualifiers, then consider setting up a consumable IAP just for testing purposes. Delete the app on your device after each test and the purchase of a consumable IAP will be considered a new purchase.

Great you now have a test user. You can finally implement IAPs in your app!

    How To Restore Non

If you have non-consumable in-app purchases to restore, you must do it from within the app itself, not from the App Store. So first, install the app in question .

Look for a button named Restore Purchases or something similar in the app. You may find this option in the apps main menu screen, in the apps settings screen, or in the apps in-app store. Apple instructs developers to include such a button in their apps.

Youll need to authenticate with the App Store after you do this, providing your Apple ID password. The app will then check the receipts on the app store to see what youve purchased and restore the purchases on your device.

Youll need to use the same Apple ID you did when you made the purchase. You cant get a new device, set it up with a new Apple ID, and expect to restore your purchases. Use the same Apple ID you used previously.

How To Unhide Purchased Apps On Your iPhone iPad Or Ipod Touch

    1) Open the App Store and tap your profile picture from the top right.

    2) Tap your name and Apple ID card. Authenticate using Face ID, Touch ID, or password when asked.

    3) Scroll down and tap Hidden Purchases.

What If Theres No Restore Purchases Button

Apple tells developers to include a button for this purpose, but some apps may not include such a button. In those cases, you still have options.

Simply attempting to re-purchase the same in-app purchase from within the app should work. As Apples documentation for developers states, If the user attempts to purchase a product thats already been purchased The user isnt charged again for the product. However, be careful when doing this. If you purchase a slightly different in-app purchase, youll be charged again. This isnt necessarily recommended.

Instead, Apple advises you contact the apps developer if theres no Restore Purchases button, or if the button doesnt work.

To do this, open the App Store and find the app youre trying to restore purchases in. To find the app, search for it in the App Store or tap Updates at the bottom of the App Store, tap Purchases, and tap the app in the list.

Tap the Reviews tab and tap the App Support link. Youll be given information about how you can contact the developer.

When making in-app purchases, remember that consumable purchases cant be restored. Even if you spend hundreds of dollars on in-game currency for an app, theres no guarantee you can take it with you to a new iPhone or iPad. So purchase wisely!
