The Telephoto Camera Is Nice To Have

The iPhone 11 Pro have a third camera with a telephoto lens that the iPhone 11 doesn’t. At times it was nice switching to the telephoto camera. And compared to the iPhone XS, the updated telephoto camera combined with Deep Fusion processing meant I took photos with better image quality.

There were times I framed a shot better with the 11 Pro’s telephoto camera than I could with the main camera. For example, when I took a top-down shot of a plate of food with the main camera, I could see the phone’s shadow on the plate. But when I switched to the telephoto camera and moved the phone higher away from the table there was no shadow.

There are a couple caveats about the iPhone 11 Pro’s telephoto camera though. When you take Night Mode photos at 2x, the 11 Pro doesn’t use the telephoto camera. Instead, it takes a crop of the main wide-angle camera. Also, the telephoto camera excels in bright conditions, but when taking photos in medium-to-low light, I noticed better image quality if I took the same photo with the main camera and cropped in.

iPhone 11 Pro Max: 65 Inch Screen

Apple saved the biggest for last. The iPhone 11 Pro Max clocks in with a screen that measures 6.5 inches diagonally, with a height of 6.22 inches, width of 3.06 inches, depth of .32 inches, and full weight of 7.97 inches.

This screen is actually identical in size to that of the iPhone XS Max, making the 11 Pro Max tied for first place as the iPhone model with the largest screen to date.

Just like the new iPhone 11 Pro, the 11 Pro Max also has the high-quality OLED display. The super retina XDR display that’s shared with the 11 Pro is reportedly the highest pixel density display in Apple’s product repertoire.

Water And Dust Resistance

The iPhone 11 has an IP68 water resistance rating, which is up from IP67 in the previous-generation iPhone XR. It’s rated to survive a depth of up to two meters for up to 30 minutes. Two meters is double the depth rating of the iPhone XR, but less than some more recent iPhone models.

With an IP68 water resistance rating, the iPhone 11 can withstand splashes, rain, and brief accidental water exposure, but intentional water exposure should be avoided. Apple warns that water and dust resistance are not permanent conditions and deteriorate as a result of normal wear.

Apple’s warranty does not cover liquid damage to iOS devices so it’s best to use caution when exposing the iPhone 11 to liquids.

The Smaller iPhone Was Better

Perhaps the most obvious and important reason to buy the iPhone 11 Pro over the iPhone 11 is size. They are very differently sized phones and they will fit in your hands differently. With a 5.8-inch screen and a weight of 6.63 ounces , the iPhone 11 Pro is the smallest of the three iPhone 11 devices. The solid-feeling phone is the easiest to use one-handed. Weighing 6.84 ounces the iPhone 11 is heavier than the 11 Pro but doesn’t feel as dense. The iPhone 11 is 0.2 millimeters thicker than the 11 Pro, which makes it feel a tad chunky.

Everyone’s hands and needs are different. I have large hands, but prefer the svelte feeling of the 11 Pro. But if you are willing to compromise a heavier weight for a larger screen, get the 11.

And if you want the absolute biggest screen you can have, go for the iPhone 11 Pro Max that has a 6.5-inch OLED screen but weighs 7.97 ounces .

Winner: For its small size, the 11 Pro is the way to go for me.

The iPhone 11 and 11 Pro share the same design philosophy, but the finish matches the fact that one is more expensive than the other. In both cases, youve got an all-screen design, with no buttons on the front, and a notch in the display for the Face ID facial recognition camera. Youve got curved metal edges, wrapping around to the flat rear of the phone.

However, the iPhone 11 has slightly larger borders between the edge of the screen than the 11 Pro, and has aluminium sides rather than the stainless steel sides of the Pro. The 11 also has a smooth, glossy glass back, while the 11 Pro and Pro Max have a frosted, matt-textured glass back.

The 11 looks and feels like a device made with Apples usual quality, but theres no denying that the 11 Pro is the more refined version. Theres no major practical benefit to this, but the fact remains.

iPhone 11 Vs iPhone X: Other Factors

The iPhone X weighs a bit less than the iPhone 11. Its not a huge difference, 174 grams to 194, but for some people it may make a difference. The phones both run IOS 13, so there arent going to be any serious differences when it comes to software. The iPhone 11 has a slightly better battery life and is a bit bigger in size.

Both iPhones are compatible with Qi wireless charging, and the iPhone 13 also has MagSafe, though youll need to buy a separate charger.

Our pick: Even with a few hours less average battery life, the iPhone 11 will probably not get a non-hardcore user through the day and evening. But if youre a professional or have pro-level aspirations to use your device to document real or constructed life, or you simply just want to listen to a whole lot of music, the boost in time you get from the iPhone 13 is pretty key.

On paper, you might think the iPhone X is larger than the iPhone 8 Plus because it has a bigger 5.8-inch screen, but that number is deceiving. The Super Retina OLED display on the iPhone X has a narrower aspect ratio than the iPhone 8 Plus’ 5.5-inch panel. And because there are virtually zero bezels around the iPhone X’s screen, it has a more compact size.

How compact? The iPhone X measures 5.7 x 2.8 x 0.3 inches, compared with a considerably taller and wider 6.2 x 3.1 x 0.3 inches of the iPhone 8 Plus. The iPhone X is also a full ounce lighter than the iPhone 8 Plus .

With the iPhone 8 Plus In my hand, I find reaching across the screen practically impossible with my thumb, though I don’t have the biggest mitts. With the iPhone X, I have no problem typing with one hand targeting icons on the other side of the screen with my thumb is a stretch but easily doable.
