Add ‘ascending Song Alarm’ Shortcut

How To Lower iPhone Alarm Volume!

The “Smooth Alarm” shortcut by RoutineHub user Chayanne served as inspiration for our “Ascending Song Alarm” shortcut. Their shortcut was not configured for the U.S., had a song pre-picked, had no way to stop the alarm, and so on, so we made it for U.S. users, let you pick the song right away, created an easy off switch, etc.

The shortcut starts the alarm at just above the zero volume level, plays the chosen song, then starts a repeating script that increases the volume incrementally until you turn down the volume to turn off the music and stop the shortcut.

Use the iCloud link above to get the shortcut. Tap “Get Shortcut” if it takes you to Safari first. Otherwise, you should be redirected to Shortcuts right away to preview the actions. Scroll to the bottom of the preview and tap “Add Untrusted Shortcut.”

How To Change The Volume Level Of A Message Alert On The iPhone

Different business scenarios can call for the message alert on your iPhone to be set to different levels. For example, if you’re expecting a very important text message and you know you won’t be in a situation where the message tone will bother anyone else, you may want the message alert volume set very high to ensure you know when the message comes in. Alternatively, if you know you’re going to be in a meeting, but you still want to be made aware when a message alert is received, you can set the tone to a very low volume. It’s also important to consider that the ringtone and text tone volumes are tied together on an iPhone.

    Step 1

Tap the “Settings” app on your iPhone.

    Step 2

    Tap “Sounds.”

    Step 3

Hold your finger against the circle icon on the slider bar in the Ringer and Alerts section.

    Step 4

Move your finger to the left to move the circle icon toward the speaker icon without sound wave icons coming out of it to reduce the volume of the tones associated with incoming phone calls and text messages. Alternatively, move your finger to the right to move the circle icon toward the speaker icon with sound waves coming out of it to increase the volume of the tones associated with incoming phone calls and text messages. A preview of the volume level plays while you’re moving the circle icon around.

    Step 5

Remove your finger from the screen after finding a volume level that works for you. The change is applied automatically.

    Step 6

Why Does My Ringer Volume Keep Going Down On My iPhone

Sometimes the volume on your iPhone can start changing by itself. There can be a few reasons why this happens:

    • iOS glitches, which are temporary and usually fixed with the next update
    • a Bluetooth accessory such as speakers or Airpods, which are connected to the device and cause the iPhones volume to change
    • a case cover which presses the volume buttons, causing the volume to change involuntarily
    • hardware damage of the device itself. In this case, the iPhone will need to be taken to a professional to be fixed

There are a few steps you can try to fix the issue:

Use Only One Alarm Clock App

If you have more than one app that can trigger alarms, you may have problems. Either stick with the default iPhone alarm clock app or disable it entirely and use something else.

However, keep in mind that third-party alarm clock apps are not as well integrated into your iPhone as the one that is built-in. This means that you will most likely have to keep the app open for the alarm sound to sound, as well as use the system volume to adjust the alarm sound.

For example, if the alarm clock doesnt make any sound in your third-party app, open the app and then use the volume buttons to turn it up. This will ensure that the volume of the app is loud enough to be heard regardless of the volume of the iPhones ringer.

If disabling third-party alarm clocks didnt fix the iPhone alarm sound issue, remove them completely, restart your phone, and then try using the standard alarm clock again.
