I have tried putting the app icons in edit mode but I cannot find a way to rename them.

    • 4This is not a feature that is supported by iOS thus, barring a jailbreak, this cannot be achieved. If you are referring to web app bookmarks, delete the current bookmark from your home screen and re-create it from within Safari, giving it a different name.Jul 2 ’17 at 1:52

iOS doesn’t have that functionality. Names of application icons are provided by the application. You can only name folders.

You can’t normally rename applications on your home screen. However if your device is jailbroken i.e you have cydia you can use Icon Renamer to change names of your applications. If you are not jailbroken wait for iOS 11 jailbreak and then rename your icons using this tweak 🙂

You have to give it the name you want when you first add the icon to your home screen. This might mean adding the link a second time, and putting your desired name in the “Add to home screen” facility. I just click in the middle of the provided name, and delete from there until the cursor is back at the beginning of the field. Then I type the name I want for the shortcut, and delete anything else. After I have added it to the home screen I go and delete the wrongly named one – using the “jiggle” process.

  • Drag the app icon you want to put into a folder on top of the folder you want to add it to.
  • Let go of the app icon to drop it into place.
  • Tap somewhere where there aren’t any apps to get out of edit mode.

  • You can drag in as many additional apps as you want.

    Using The App Library

    • You can tap an individual app to open it
    • Use the search bar at the top to find apps
    • Tap the small four app bundles in the bottom right corner of a category to see all the apps in that App Library folder
    • Pull down from the top of the App Library to see an alphabetical list of all apps
    • Interesting enough, I havent had success launching the App Library with Siri

How To Rename Bluetooth Devices on iPhone & iPad (iOS 14)

I began an iPhone project the other day with a silly development code name, and now I want to change the name of the project since it’s nearly finished.

But I’m not sure how to do this with Xcode, trying the obvious of changing the application’s name in the info.plist file, causes the signing process to go wrong and my app won’t launch giving me a Launcher error.

I guess I could make a new project and copy paste everything over, but it seems so primitive that I’m hoping for a more civilized solution.

    • I’ve had to do this a few times. I use a tool called Rename Xcode Project 2.1. NosrednaJun 10 ’09 at 0:58

    • 1 Not fully answered. The title of the application window and the pulldown menu of the application stays with the old name. The “Rename xCode Project” project fails when the plist file was renamed. It awaits the name Info.plist
  • Go to Targets in Xcode.
  • Build Settings on your project’s target .
  • Search for Product Name under Packaging. Change its value to what you want your new project name to be.
  • In new versions of Xcode , to change the name of the project, follow these simple steps:

Note: In this example I’ll change a hypothetical “Sample” name to a “Test” one.

  • Rename the project.

  • That’s it.

When you create a folder on an iPhone or iPad, Apple automatically gives the folder a name. As these names arent always fitting, youll likely want to change them. Heres how you can rename folders on your devices.

How To Rename A Folder On iPhone And iPad

To change the name of a folder in iOS, you need to complete the following steps, regardless of the version of iOS that you have on the device in question:

  • Go to the Home Screen of your iOS device
  • Tap and hold on the folder name that you wish to change, keep holding until you see the icons jiggle
  • Once the outlined text box appears at the top of the folder, just tap in there to move the cursor, and then type in the new name
  • When finished renaming the folder, hit your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch home button to lock in the name change and save it
  • Thats all there is to it, you can then proceed to rename other folders if desired.

Pretty simple tip right? For those of us who have been using iOS for a while, changing folder names may be common knowledge, but a friend of mine just got an iPhone and this was one of the first questions they had for me.

Now, if you feel like getting even more creative and you find the regular folder names to be a little boring, then you can really customize folder names in iOS by adding Emoji and Wingdings as part of the folder names, making the folders look really stylized. This is a cool customization trick if you want to spruce things up a bit on your home screen.

Oh and by the way, you can rename folders in all versions of iOS that support folders. Earlier versions of iOS work exactly the same for renaming a folder, it just looks slightly different like so:
