Rd Party iPhone Nfc Apps With Core Nfc Framework
Software developers can create 3rd party iPhone apps that use NFC via the iOS Core NFC Framework. This gives apps complete* access to the NFC controller in the iPhone and software support for the low-level NFC chip standards and protocols needed to read NFC tags and encode NFC tags. Apple did stumble with Core NFC at first as it took them several years of iOS releases to finally allow for a complete and useful NFC framework there were previous limitations in iOS including not having access to the NFC chip UID, only supporting NFC tags that were NDEF encoded and a couple other issues. All of that has since been resolved, and 3rd party apps can use NFC going back to the iPhone 7. There is one remaining limitation that Core NFC can not be used for payment related apps as this would be a competitor to Apple Pay. There are several campaigns and lawsuits relating to this.

Version 14 of Apple’s operating system for the iPhone has been released, and an interesting novelty in the NFC field has been announced.

The Four Types Of Nfc Tag
- TYPE ONE Store 96 bytes and work at 106 Kbps
- TYPE TWO Store up to 32 KB and work at speeds of up to 424 Kbps
These NFC tags can be written multiple times and the data contained on them can be encrypted too. You can also lock these types of NFC tags, so when theyre deployed in marketing materials no one can mess with them.
TYPE THREE and TYPE FOUR NFC Tags can only be written once, kind of like a CD, so once youve imprinted data onto a TYPE THREE or TYPE FOUR NFC tag thats it, you cannot edit or add anything else.
TYPE THREE and TYPE FOUR NFC tags also lack the security features found on TYPE ONE and TYPE TWO NFC tags.
Most people, for this reason, tend to use TYPE ONE and TYPE TWO NFC tags.

How To Read Nfc Tags With An iPhone 7 8 Or X
Reading NFC tags with the iPhone 7, 8 or X will depend on your version of operating system as follows :
iOS 14 : If you have the latest iOS 14 operating system, you can read NFC tags natively with the built-in reader. Just turn on NFC Scan mode from Control Centre and hold the top edge of the phone over the tag. Watch the video here to show you how to read NFC tags with iOS 14.
iOS 13 : With iOS13 or earlier, the 7, 8 and X iPhones cannot read NFC Tags natively. This means that while these generations of iPhones can read NFC tags, they can’t do it out of the box. An additional App is required.
Which iPhone App is the best for reading NFC tags on iOS 13 or earlier ?
Seritag recommend NXP’s TagInfo or NXP’s NFC Launch apps. TagInfo is a more full featured whereas NFC Launch is a lightweight app designed simply for reading a web link from an NFC tag.
Since Apple announced that NFC tag scanning was going to be enabled in iOS11, a number of NFC Apps have appeared on the App Store. Some of them work very well, others are a little unreliable. Remember, if you are running the latest iOS 14 software, you don’t need to download an App, just open the Control Centre and turn on NFC Scan Mode.

Recognize Accessories With Nfc Enabled Magsafe
