What More You Can Do With The Flashlight Controls On The iPhone

The lock screen has no controls for the flashlight beyond on and off. However, if you use Control Center, you can press and hold on the icon to get a finer control.

Specifically, if you press and hold then you get the option to adjust the brightness of the light. There are five settings, from nothing to the brightest, and you set the one you want by swiping up and down.

Note that whatever you set the flashlight to with this control, that’s what you will get each time you use it until you positively choose to change it again. That includes whether you turn the flashlight on from Control Center, or the lock screen.

How To Troubleshoot The iPhone Flashlight Not Working Problem

Now that we know why the flashlight wont turn on in the iPhone, its time to troubleshoot this problem. Since you can fix most iPhone flashlight-related problems without contacting a repairer or Apple Support, checking different options is smart. Thats why we have listed some basic and advanced methods to fix the iPhone X flashlight not working issue.

Here are a few tricks to help you with the iPhone flashlight not working fiasco:

    Charge your iPhone

Start with the basics. If your iPhones battery is below 10%, put it on charge right away. Once its charged enough, check if its flashlight is working or not. If yes, there was nothing wrong with your iDevice except its exhausted battery. But if the flashlight still wont work on your iPhone, move on to another troubleshooting method from our list.

    Close the Camera App

The flashlight wont turn on in the iPhone when its camera app is working. Sometimes we minimize the camera app to access another feature on the iDevice and forget to close it. When thats the case, your iPhone flashlight wont work.

    • Press your iPhones home button to see the open tabs on your device.
    • If you spot the camera app in that list, swipe up on the panel to close it.

Once off, access your iPhones control panel and tap on the flashlight icon to see if its working.

If theres nothing majorly wrong with your iPhone, closing the camera app will resolve the iPhone 11 flashlight not working issue.

Disable the Do Not Disturb mode from your iPhone

    Losing Your iPhone Data

This setting would reset the settings of your iPhone and wipe off its storage. For this, you will follow these steps.

Step 1: First of all, unlock the iPhone and go to the > General > Reset Settings.

Step 2: Tap the button “Erase all contents and settings” and enter your system passcode to validate your preference.

Why Does My Flashlight Keep Turning On iPhone 8

One of the reasons your iPhone flashlight keeps turning on itself is because you are accidentally touching the flashlight icon on the lower left of the screen with your thumb or palm. This can be annoying as the flashlight will keep draining your devices battery life.

Unfortunately, the flashlight shortcut cannot be removed from the lock screen, but there are several ways to quickly turn it off. If your flashlight is turning on while inside your pocket, the best thing to do is to turn off the Tap to Wake feature.

You can do this by going to the Settings > General > Accessibility > Turn off Tap to Wake. However if the flashlight is on because of the accidental touch of a hand, just swipe to the left very slightly from the lock screen to turn it off. Another way is to ask Siri to handle the task. Just say Hey Siri, turn off the flashlight, or Hey Siri, disable the torch. Or Hey Siri, flashlight off, and Hey Siri, torch off.

How to turn flashlight On Off iPhone X, 8 / 8 Plus

iOS also lets you turn the flashlight on by asking Siri to perform this task. Say “Hey Siri,” and then something like “Turn on the flashlight.”

If Siri understood you correctly, she turns the flashlight on and tells you that “It’s on.”

Similarly, if you want to stop the flashlight on your iPhone, say “Hey Siri,” followed by “Turn off the flashlight.” After shutting the flashlight off, Siri tells you that “It’s off.”
