Recover Your Lost iPhone: The Find My App Is Key
Every single iOS device has Apple’s Find My service, formerly Find My iPhone, built into its system settings. The app is connected to and managed by your Apple ID. The moment you realize you’ve lost your phone, the first thing you should do is visit icloud.com/find on a computer, open the Find My app on another Apple device you own or have a member of your Family Sharing group use the Find My app on one of their Apple devices. Alternatively, you can use the Find My app on another Apple device by signing in with your Apple ID.
If accessing Find My via the website or on someone else’s device, it’s important you sign in to the same iCloud account linked to the lost iPhone. After signing in, click the All Devices option at the top of the screen, the select your phone from the list. The map will refresh, taking you to the current location of your phone. If the device has been turned off, the last known location will be shown.;
When viewing the device’s location, use the card in the top-right corner of the screen to play a sound, turn on Lost Mode or remotely erase your phone. Or in the Find My app, you can scroll down to find the same options, with the addition of turning on notifications for whenever the device is found if it goes offline. ;;

How To Turn On Location Services On Your iPhone
If you want to be able to track your own iPhone or let other people track you, first make sure Location Services are enabled.;
1. Start the Settings app and then tap “Privacy.”
2. Tap “Location Services.”
3. On the Location Services page, ensure it’s turned on by swiping the button to the right.;
4. You can fine-tune the way Location Services works by controlling the permission of specific apps in the list at the bottom of the page. You can enable or disable permission and specify when the app is allowed to see your location.;

Tap Devices, then tap the name of the device you want to locate.

If the device can be located: It appears on the map so you can see where it is.

If the device cant be located: You see No location found under the devices name. Under Notifications, turn on Notify When Found. You receive a notification once its located.

Tracking Devices That Have Been Erased
If someone steals your iPhone and then erases it, in iOS 15, it’s still going to show up in the Find My app, and it will be trackable even after it’s been wiped.
The feature is tied to Activation Lock, which prevents someone from using your iPhone without your Apple ID and password. In iOS 14 and prior iOS updates, erasing a device would leave Activation Lock on so no one could use your iPhone without your password, but erasing a device did prevent Find My from functioning.
A wiped iPhone would not show up in the Find My app, but now, erasing an iPhone no longer works that way. If Activation Lock is on , it’s tied to your account and locatable using Find My. Combined with the feature for tracking a device that’s turned off, the Find My app serves as a much stronger theft deterrent.
To prevent someone from being tricked into purchasing a device that’s tied to your account, the Hello screen on a newly erased iPhone makes it clear that the device is locked, locatable using Find My, and the property of someone else.

Find Your Location History In Google Maps
Apple stores a limited amount of location history data and doesnt let you browse through the data in a timeline view. Google, on the other hand, has a detailed Timeline view that lets you browse through the roads you traveled through and the places you visited on a given day.
If you use the app on your iPhone or iPad for navigation, you can use Google Maps Timeline feature to access your location history.
Google Maps ability to track your location depends on your privacy settings. You can choose to allow Google to track your location only when youre using the app or to always track your location in the background. You can change this setting on your iPhone or iPad by going to Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Google Maps.
If you want, you can also disable the Location History feature from your Google account settings .
