How To Delete Duplicate Songs On iPhone

Beyond just deleting music you no longer like; you may have accumulated many duplicate tracks over time. This is true wasted space because duplicate tracks are unnecessary.

If you don’t want to trawl through your library to weed out duplicate tracks, there’s a great tool which can help. Tune Sweeper is software for PC or Mac which will cover all of your iTunes clean up needs. The feature we’re really interested in is its ability to locate and remove duplicate tracks from iTunes. Once your library is clean, you can then sync it with your iPhone and hey presto – space saved.

Clear Your Browser Cache

If you use Safari all the time, your iPhone may be storing web history and data that you simply do not need. To clear Safari’s browser cache, open up the Settings app and tap Safari. Scroll down and click Clear History and Website Data.

Delete Music Movies And Other Media

The best iPhone files to delete in a pinch are those that you are certain you can re-download later. Whether you have tons of Music playlists, Audible audiobooks, Apple TV purchases, or other large downloads, you know for certain that these can all be redownloaded, either from the app or from your computer.

With first-party Apple apps, you can delete files in Settings > General > iPhone Storage. Select an app like Music, and you’ll see a list of all downloaded music with file sizes next to them. You can then hit ‘Edit’ and remove the largest collections of songs, or simply swipe left on any song to reveal the Delete button.

Your other option, as mentioned above, is to manage your media files by syncing your iPhone to your computer. That way, you can add or delete files en masse, instead of having to remove them one at a time.

As for third-party apps, your only choice will be to open them and manually delete downloaded files using the tools available. Look for streaming apps with suspiciously high Data storage numbers: you may have downloaded offline videos for a flight and never removed them.;

Why Is It Taking Up So Much Space

While cached data may not seem to need much space, it is surprising how large streamed media content can be not to mention the image-rich social media apps we love so much.

Looking through the list of apps and their storage allocations will quickly show how storage is being consumed. In this screenshot above, for example, you can see Facebook is consuming 2.17 gigabytes.

However, if we look on the App store, it says the Facebook app only requires 255.4 megabytes. So somehow the app is occupying an additional 1.9GB. Where is this extra 1.9GB coming from? Its likely caches of images, videos and other content your phone had to store in its own memory storage so you could scroll through Facebook without encountering the dreaded buffering spinning wheel.

From Within The Apple Music App

Open the Music app. Go to Library > Downloaded, where you’ll see music that’s stored locally and taking up space. To delete an entire album, long-press on it and a pop-up menu will include a Delete from Library option. You can do the same for specific songs within an album; tap the three-dot menu and select Remove.

If you want to put the music back on your device, open the Music app and tap Library. Find the song or album you want and re-download it by tapping the cloud-arrow icon on the right.

So before you try any of these new tricks, you might want to try some of those older ones, like deleting duplicate photos and screenshots, backing up photos and videos in the cloud using services like , or using this strange iTunes rental hack. If those methods don’t work, you can try some of these:

    Quit Doubling Hdr Pictures

How to free up space on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch Apple Support

Your phones camera uses a high dynamic range mode to blend three exposures into one photo with top quality. When it does this, it also keeps a version of the picture from a normal exposure. You might want that normal version if your phone is old and too slow to take a decent HDR picture. But with an iPhone 5 or newer, youll probably prefer the HDR picture anyway, so no need to waste space on the other. Avoid duplicates by going to Settings > Photos & Camera, and deselect the Keep Normal Photo option. Alternatively, you can turn HDR off with the option second to the left when you open your camera. Heres how to make your smartphone pictures even better.

    Beware Apps Bearing Downloads

As you can see, my iPhone is extremely full. The largest app on my phone by far is Podcasts, but not all of those MB are audio files. The amount of space that each of the apps on your iPhone or iPad is a combination of the app itself and the data that app downloads internally. Tap on each of your apps and see how much of that app space is just data and documents. To clear this you will most likely have to delete and re-install the app to clear its cache and free up some space.

    Stop Storing Texts Forever

By default, your iPhone stores all of the text messages you send and receive… forever. This is convenient if you need to look up a 15-month-old conversation; not so convenient if you need that storage space back. To stop your phone from saving texts forever, open up the Settings app and tap Messages. Scroll down until you find Message History and tap Keep Messages. Change Forever to 30 Days or 1 Year. A pop-up will ask you if you want to delete older messages; tap Delete to proceed.

Tip #: Delete Preinstalled Apps Data

How to make space on your iPhone ..... http://www.imyfone ...

Most people rarely use the preloaded Apple apps such as Stocks, Videos, and Remote. The only problem is that until now, Apple has prevented users from deleting these apps. But with the new iOS, Apple is giving users the option to at least delete the data from preloaded apps. Granted, this wont give you tons of space, but when youre fighting for every megabyte, its a solid option.

Tip #: Find Out Which Apps Are Taking Up The Most Space

To find out which apps are taking up the most space, go to Settings > General > Storage &iCloud Usage, then tap on Manage Storage. This will immediately give you a picture of which apps are hogging the most memory on your iPhone. Many people are shocked to see how much space certain apps are taking up.

If an unused app is taking up more than 100 MB, lose it! Also consider deleting old podcasts, which can consume an inordinate amount of space on your phone. If a particular app is small but is using an excessive amount of space, you can delete just the data associated with that app by pressing Delete Documents and Data.

    Tip #: Delete Unused Apps

This is the obvious one. We all have apps that we downloaded on a whim, then forgot to delete. These unused apps can take up a surprisingly large amount of space on your phone. By deleting just a few apps, you can easily make up to 1 GB of additional space on your phone.

To delete an app, simply press down on it and hold until it starts jiggling. Then press the X in the upper left hand corner.
