An Overview Of Apples Old iPhones Just In Case You Wanna Go Ultra
Its fair to say that if youre shopping for a new iPhone, even the cheapest iPhone, youre not really on a budget by any stretch of the imagination. In other words, all new iPhones are expensive. The iPhone SE, however, is certainly the most affordable of the entire range it costs as little as $159!
This makes it potentially the best choice if you do insist on partaking in Apples ecosystem as well as its unique blend of design, hardware, and software but also want to spend as little as possible something more in mid-rage Android price territory.
Or if you just want that Apple logo on your device at the lowest possible outlay. That said, another good reason why you might find the iPhone SE the best iPhone for you, is if youre an Apple fan, want in on its services, software, and the level of polish it brings to its phones, but are absolutely sure you want a smaller screen.
The iPhone SE is the only model available with the older size 4in display, making it much more pocket-friendly than the rest of the line-up, which range from 4.7in on the regular editions, up to 5.5in on the Plus models, and up to 5.8in on the iPhone X .
The iPhone SE has been on the market for a little while now, but as with many Apple products, the hardware has been engineered carefully and the firm continually refines new editions of the iOS software to be just as well optimized to it now, with added features, services, and interface tweaks, as it was at launch.
Why The iPhone Se Is The Best Value iPhone
Up until 2020, Apples iPhones cost an arm and a leg to buy. The base model iPhone 11 starts at $699.99, and before that, you had the iPhone XR which retailed for slightly more when it first launched. Want a flagship iPhone? Thatll cost your $1000 minimum.
And thats still the case in 2020, only now we have the newly minted iPhone SE to consider. Apple has only just launched this phone but it is already tipped to be the #1 best selling iPhone of the year.
The reason? Price. Apples iPhone SE is by far and away the best value iPhone you can get right now it retails for $399.99 . The iPhone SE runs Apples A13 Bionic chip, the same CPU as the iPhone 11, 11 Pro, and 11 Pro Max, and is based on the iPhone 8s design.
This means it has a home button and TouchID, perfect if you dont really like Apples new all-screen, gesture-based iPhones. On top of this, the iPhone SE has wireless charging, is water-proof, and it comes in a range of color and storage options all the way up to 256GB, although this model will set you back £569.99 .
iPhone 7& iPhone 7 Plus: Best Value iPhone
If youre not in the market for the very latest and greatest and most expensive but still want an iPhone, and yet dont want an itty-bitty 4in touchscreen from the iPhone SE, youre left looking at the rest of Apples legacy range. And you can pick up a reconditioned iPhone 7 Plus for around $300!
This basically consists of the iPhone 6s series, the iPhone 7 series, and the newer iPhone 8 series. We find it pretty much impossible to recommend the iPhone 8 and its larger sibling, the iPhone 8 Plus. Essentially, Apple really dropped the ball here on a number of fronts. It clearly spent too much time focusing on the iPhone X, as the specs and features between the iPhone 8 and the iPhone 7 hardly seem like an upgrade at all.
At the same time, the iPhone 8 cost considerably more than the iPhone 7 at launch $699 and $799 for the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus respectively, versus $549 and $669 for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus while not offering much that is new for that hiked price point. However, the iPhone 8, as well as the iPhone 7 series, are now both VERY affordable if you get them from the right place.
Youll save a ton of money, get most of the same features , and all with fewer headaches. And if you want to save EVEN more cash, check out reconditioned units via Gazelle theyre around 40% cheaper than new RRP.

Best iPhone 2018/19 Our #1 Picks
An unpopular opinion? Maybe. But the iPhone XR, if I were in the market for a new iPhone, is the one Id go for. Whys that? Simple: it is practically the iPhone XS MAXs equal in all areas, save for the fact it doesnt run an OLED display. And for this reason, I would say it is the best iPhone you can buy right now.
If you can live without an OLED display, youll save A TON of money on the retail price and still get the same camera and software performance. Another bonus? The iPhone XR comes in a range of color options and, for me, this makes it way more unique than Apples iPhone XS Max. Couple this with the iPhone XRs amazing specs and performance, and its easy to see why many view the iPhone XR as the best iPhone for 2019.
The iPhone XR, thanks to its lower-resolution display, has some of the best battery life performance of any iPhone ever made. If battery life, design, camera tech, and performance are important to you, the iPhone XR is very hard to beat. For me, it is the #1 iPhone for value for money, good looks, and performance.
If your motto for life is, Go BIG or go home, then the iPhone XS MAX is just what the doctor ordered. The iPhone XS Max is the biggest iPhone Apple has ever built it packs in an enormous 6.5in OLED display with a resolution of 1242 x 2688. The iPhone XR is also the best iPhone money can buy too its just youll need A LOT of money to buy one.
If you want a smaller iPhone that has an OLED display, the iPhone XS is hard to beat
Apple iPhone 1: The Best For Most People
The iPhone 12 sports the base name for good reason. It is a well-balanced handset that should be great for most users. The 6.1-inch screen is large enough to be used comfortably, yet still small enough to make it manageable. The A14 Bionic chipset and 4GB of RAM keep the device speedy. If you care about it, there are also plenty of fun color options to pick from.
Like all 2020 devices from Apple, this handset comes with the updated design language, which is actually reminiscent of older iPhones. Glass covers the back and front, while a ceramic shield keeps the screen protected. These also come with a metallic border that outlines the whole device. Its a great handset, and youll also love that it comes at a reasonable price considering most high-end handsets nowadays cost more than $1,000.
- Display: 6.1-inch, 2,532 x 1,170
- SoC: Apple A14 Bionic
Phones just keep getting larger and larger. This is a trend were not all fans of. Many of us hate that there are very few quality small phones. Apple knows theres a market for smaller-sized phones, and that is why they have created the iPhone 12 Mini.
Apple iPhone 12 Mini specs:
- Display: 5.4-inch, 2,340 x 1,080
- SoC: Apple A14 Bionic
This is the cheapest iPhone Apple currently sells. The phone packs plenty of power under the hood thanks to the A13 Bionic processor, which is the same chipset youll find in the iPhone 11 series.

What’s The Cheapest Way To Buy An iPhone
Picking the right time of the year can surely help you save some money. Apple does not offer substantial discounts at any specific point during the year, but network retailers’ prices usually go down for Black Friday and sometimes at the beginning of the summer and at Christmas time.
This way, even if you don’t save on the iPhone per see, you can get some heavy discounts on your data and calls’ plan, thus saving you quite a bit of cash in the long run.
In addition, if you don’t have to own the latest Apple handset, you can get an iPhone from two to three years back at a substantially lower price than a flagship.
How Much Does The iPhone 13 Cost Based On Storage Size
As with previous iPhones, pricing will depend on the model and storage capacity. The cost also does not include activation fees or taxes. US prices for the base models for each are below:
- iPhone 13 starts at $799
- iPhone 13 Mini starts at $699
- iPhone 13 Pro starts at $999
- iPhone 13 Pro Max starts at $1,099

A15 Or A14 Which Is Best
Apples A15 CPU is its new processor for iPhone 13 it powers all four models, including the base model iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini. Apple says the A15 is about 20% more powerful than the A14 inside the iPhone 12.
Again, if youre running an iPhone 12 already, switching to an iPhone 13 makes very little sense. Youre best off waiting for the iPhone 14 in 2022 that phone will have a ton of changes, including a new design language.
If youre running an older iPhone, like the iPhone X, XS, or 11, the iPhone 13 and its powerful A15 CPU represent a massive step up in performance, so, yeah, it is totally worth the upgrade in this instance.
The Best iPhone Charging Cables
Reasons to avoid
The Powerline Plus II is exceptionally tough and exceptionally quick, and may be the last Lightning cable you ever buy. Thats because its designed for USB-C connections, which deliver much faster charging than USB-A ones assuming your charger delivers the right amount of juice, of course.
It works with high-powered chargers including Apples ones and is lab-tested to withstand 30,000 bends, which means it should last thirty times longer than lesser cables. Anker is so confident that it offers a lifetime warranty: this cable should last much longer than any of your iPhones or iPads.
Reasons to avoid
If youre not fussed about getting a braided cable and want a 1.8 meter one, the original Powerline cables are very good value: youll be hard pushed to find a similarly good quality USB-C cable of the same length for the same price.
The question here is whether you want the increased strength of the braided Powerline Plus II, which is only a little bit more expensive. Where that one has been lab-tested to survive 30,000 bends, the original Powerline has only been tested to 12,000 bends although like its sibling it does come with a lifetime warranty.
Reasons to avoid
This 3 meter cable may be the most useful iPhone charging cable ever made. Its available in much smaller sizes, but theres a reason we love the long one. Its long enough to stretch from a wall socket to the sofa or from your in-car charger to the kids iPad in the back seat.

iPhone 12 Pro Max 25x Zoom
The 2.5x optical zoom works well but it doesn’t perform miracles. I took great pictures of the Henry Hudson Bridge with the 12 Pro Max. It easily kept the landscape in focus with the wide-angle lens and the 2.5x zoom lens.
But while I could easily see, with my naked eyes, a pair of people in canoes paddling down the Harlem River in front of the bridge, the 2.5x lens wasn’t powerful enough to pick them up in a photo.
By contrast, Samsungs Galaxy S20 Ultra includes a 10x zoom, and the Galaxy Note20 Ultra has a 5x zoom. So if getting super-close to your subjects is a really big deal for you, you might want to think about one of those. Or better yet, use a real camera.
The final big difference between the phones is battery life, and it could prove to be the deciding factor for many people. The jumbo-sized 12 Pro Max logged a whopping 41 hours in our testing, a total of 7 hours more than the iPhone 12 Pro.
That’s a big difference, especially if you’re someone who’s frequently on the go and away from your charger.
Update: This article has been updated with lab testing results. It was originally published on Nov. 13, 2020.
Which iPhone Models Support Wireless Charging
Yes, all of the iPhone models in this list support Qi wireless charging technology. MagSafe is only supported by the four iPhone 12 models.
MagSafe provides a secure magnetic connection system so that you can connect to wireless chargers with perfect positioning and alignment. MagSafe can also be used with other accessories, such as wallets and kickstands.

Best Productivity And Video iPhone: Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max
Why you should buy this: When the iPhone 12 Pro isnt quite large enough, and you are tempted by additional battery life.
Who its for: Its the model for you if you want to work on your iPhone, watch a lot of video, or just want the most battery life.
Why we picked the iPhone 11 Pro Max:
The iPhone 12 Pro Max represents the technological pinnacle of the new iPhone range, and for once there are a few more differences between it and the iPhone 12 Pro to tempt you to go large. Regardless of the differences, the iPhone 12 Pro Max remains supreme for video and productivity, as the screen size is bigger than ever before at 6.7 inches.
It also has a more technically impressive camera system, with a special new optical image stabilization mode, plus a greater 5x optical zoom, but the normal iPhone 12 Pros camera is still superb. In reality, the other reason apart from the screen size that you should buy the Pro Max is battery life. The cell is 30% larger than the one inside the 12 Pro, and it easily lasts a full day with heavy use.
The trade-offs are the same as always with the Max models. The 6.7-inch Pro Max is bigger and heavier than the smaller 6.1-inch Pro. Its 228 grams in all, and both wider and longer than the iPhone 12 Pro. If youve got small hands, its a seriously big smartphone, and over long periods of use, the additional weight is noticeable, as is the additional bulk in your pocket.
Best iPhone : Which Apple iPhone Model Should You Buy
We’ve reviewed every iPhone on the market to bring you our list of the best iPhone to suit all needs.
Every year Apple makes it harder to choose which iPhone to buy. More choice means theres more to weigh up in the decision making.
Back in 2008, when the first iPhone came into existence, there was just one iPhone on offer. Those simpler times are a thing of the past.
In September last year, Apple launched four iPhones within the iPhone 12 family: iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max. Oh, and the iPhone SE entered the fray a few months before, which was a welcome addition to those looking for a more wallet-friendly iPhone.
Then theres the iPhone 11 range, which is still considerably alluring, despite being almost two years old. But with iOS updates coming to all these versions, even older models still feel up-to-date.
And, if that wasnt enough to choose from already, Apple has just revealed the new iPhone 13. But, that means theres no better time to assess your options and decide whether investing in the new iPhone 13 is worth the money or if one of the older models is a better fit for you and your needs.
Weve spent some quality time with six recent iPhones we think should be worth considering and have put together a guide to make the selection process more informed than a game of eeny, meeny, miny, moe.

Other Used iPhones That Didn’t Make This List : ‘
As much as we love all Apple iPhone models here at Back Market, there are a few models that we wouldn’t suggest due to their age. The iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C, and iPhone 6 are all still really cool, but we wouldn’t suggest getting one of them to use as an everyday handset because they are no longer able to run the newest version of Apple’s iOS operating-system. But if you do find a really good deal and decide to get one of these phones, they should still be able to work with carriers like Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, and AT& T, but make sure to confirm with a sales rep at an official location first. Just keep in mind that not all of these phones will be able to receive 4G LTE data signals and therefore won’t be able to load videos or web pages as quickly as the cheap iPhones we recommended. If you only plan to use Wi-Fi for web browsing though, keep calm and carry on 😛
