This is the ONLY reason youd get the iPhone 12 over the iPhone 11, though. Everything else being equal, the iPhone 12 is not that much of an update over the iPhone 11. Compared to the iPhone X or iPhone 8 Plus, yeah, the iPhone 12 is a major update.
But compared to the iPhone 11, the iPhone 12 is only a minor update it has 5G, an OLED display, and slightly tweaked internals. To the VAST majority of users out there, the difference between using an iPhone 11 and iPhone 12 will be negligible. Unless you want 5G. Then things are different. If you want 5G on your iPhone, you have to get the iPhone 12 or wait until the iPhone 13.

Me personally? Im kind of on the fence right now. I know that Apples iPhone 13 will be the BIG update a lot of people have been waiting for. Well likely see some big design changes with the iPhone 13, new features like 120Hz refresh rate displays, and vastly improved cameras on all models.
For this reason, the idea of getting a discounted iPhone 11 now and waiting until 2021 for the iPhone 13 is starting to look very attractive to me. By this time next year, 5G will be more established and I will know more about its actual benefits and how they affect me as a user.
The bottom line here is fairly simple, however: if youre looking at an iPhone 11, and you want to save some money, the phone is still perfectly viable in 2020 and beyond. The iPhone 12 is great, but it is more expensive. And it has 5G and an OLED display. But thats about it.

By now, the iPhone was being sold on countless networks in countless countries. Just over five million iPhones were sold the first weekend the iPhone 5 was available, the most ever for the first weekend, although this number disappointed stockholders who were expecting sales figures to be much higher. The phone launched in the US, Canada, Australia, and most of Europe on September 21, 2012, and by the end of the year, it was available in more than 100 countries around the world.

Apple is covering a range of price points with its new devices.

Skipping right over the iPhone 9, Apple announced the XS and XS Max at its September 2018 event in the Steve Jobs Theater. These models were well named, as they were definite upgrades along the lines of the iPhone X. Both models had the front-facing camera for Portrait-mode selfies. The displays were edge to edge, and it all looked great with the Super Retina HD display. Ios 13 Ios 14 And Performance
The iPhone 11 launched with iOS 13, and packs some nifty features as a result. We’ll get to them below, but first it’s worth noting that iOS 14 is now available for the phone. This adds some major new features like an App Library and home screen widgets.
All of this builds on what was found in iOS 13, and the first thing we really like with that is that the OS now has more well-rounded, intelligent mini-notifications. That means that when you switch the phone to silent, or you change the volume, the little element that pops up to tell you what’s happening is more useful and also interactive.
It means, for example, that pressing a single volume key brings up a nice slider that you can control with a finger, rather than a box that covers the screen. It sounds minor, but such things will improve the way you interact with your phone day to day.
FaceID has also had a much-needed upgrade the field of view of the camera has been improved a fair bit, so you can glance at your phone from your seat and unlock it. While you may still need to move your face closer or lift the phone slightly, it’s a big upgrade from what debuted on the iPhone X two years ago.
This feature isnt the result of new hardware though, and itll be coming to all iPhones launched in recent years its just a case of Apple making better use of the information picked up by existing sensors.

The new iPhone is about to hit stores.
The iPhone 11 is almost here. On Tuesday, Apple unveiled three new devices, all touting the next smartphoneâs name â the dual-camera iPhone 11, and the triple-camera iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max.
Appleâs latest smartphone release looks set to turn heads. The new devices use an A13 Bionic chip, dubbed by the company as the fastest CPU and GPU ever to ship in a smartphone, 20 percent faster than the A12. All three devices offer a new ultra-wide-angle lens, enabling users to fit subjects in the frame even in tight spaces and offering new creative effects. 5G is a no-show, but all three support Wi-Fi 6 and faster gigabit-class LTE.
A new U1 chip provides spatial awareness, using ultra-wideband technology for what Apple claims is the first time in a smartphone. Face ID is also 30 percent faster, with support for more angles and varying distances. Spatial audio also provides more immersive sound.
The devices were unveiled in full at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino, California. The conference room forms part of the new Apple Park campus, one of the last projects Steve Jobs worked on at the company.
The iPhone is one of the worldâs key computing platforms. iPhone 11 Review: Cameras
Apple’s iPhone cameras have recently taken a back seat to the likes of the , Huawei P30 Pro and Galaxy S10. The iPhone XR literally couldn’t hold a candle to the Pixel 3 in low light in our camera face-off. What a difference the iPhone 11 makes.
Take a look at this image of a flower and vase shot indoors in near darkness. The image from last year’s iPhone XS is a dim blob of petals, while you can make out the individual petals and colors in the new iPhone’s shot .
Thanks to a new wide camera sensor with 100 percent Focus Pixels and smarter software, the iPhone 11 does a much better job snapping pics in little to no light. And the Night Mode kicks in automatically, so you don’t have to swipe or tap to activate it as you do with the Android competition. With the iPhone 11, you just have the hold the phone steady for up to 3 seconds as you shoot.
We didn’t need Night mode on the iPhone 11 or Pixel 3 for this shot taken inside a dim bar, but it still proved to be a good challenge for both phones. The iPhone 11 triumphed in this case, as it delivered a brighter overall image, especially in the overhead lights. You can also make out more detail in the woman’s hair in the iPhone 11’s photo, and the Pixel 3 has more trouble with the light shining behind the bottles in the upper left corner.
Apple also takes Smart HDR to the next level in the iPhone 11, as the machine learning can understand what the subject is and keep the details you want in the face while retaining the shadows.
The iPhone 11 Has Many Of The Important Camera Features In The iPhone 12 And 13
The iPhone 11’s cameras are also more than enough for anyone who wants to take high-quality photos with their phone, but doesn’t need the most advanced camera available. It has both a 12-megapixel sensor with a wide-angle lens that has an aperture of /1.8, and an ultrawide-angle lens with an /2.4 aperture.
That means you have the option of taking standard photos or images with a much wider field of view, allowing you to capture more of a scene without having to step backward. The aperture on this extra-wide lens is also the same as those of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13. So you shouldn’t see much of a difference in image quality when capturing images in this ultrawide mode.
You’ll also get features like night mode — for better image quality in dim scenarios without having to use the flash — and deep fusion, which improves detail and reduces noise. There’s also a 12-megapixel front camera for taking selfies and making FaceTime calls, the same as on the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13.
The iPhone 11 has a great camera setup, with an ultrawide lens and Night mode.
If you’re upgrading from an older phone, you’re bound to see a noticeable improvement in image quality. The iPhone XS, which only came out one year before the iPhone 11, doesn’t have Night mode and also lacks an ultrawide lens for broader shots.
