If not, there may be a power button or logic board issue. If the phone does turn on, plug it in and see if the charging indication comes on. If the phone says it is charging, then the Lightning connector works, and you likely had a bad battery. But if it still doesnt charge, you may need to replace the Lightning connector.

Question: Q: My Phone Charging Symbol Is Not Showing But My Phone Is Charging

SO I charge my iPhone 6s with a different charging cable because I lost the one that comes w/ the iPhone. I have used this and other charging cables for a little while and my phone worked fine. A couple days ago though my phone would charge but there is no indication of it charging. The green lighting bolt doesn’t show and when you put it asleep it still won’t show. It also doesn’t make the charging sound but again it is charging. I also tried using my friends iPhone 6 charger which is the one it comes w/ and the actual Apple charger but it still has the same problem. There is no way of knowing its charging besides waiting for the percentage to go up. And it’s updated to 9.3.3 Help

  • If you have an iPhone 6, 6S, or iPhone 7:

Rebooting your iPhone 6, 6s or 7 is simple. Hold the sleep/wake and volume-down buttons at the same time.

Is There Something Wrong With Your iPhone

The rule of thumb is to check if your iPhone supports wireless charging, particularly if it’s the first time you’re charging it wirelessly. Only iPhone 8 and later models support wireless charging, so if you’re using an iPhone 7 or a trusty iPhone SE, its a no-go. You should be able to charge your iPhone 8 or above on any Qi-enabled wireless chargers.

If your iPhone quits working on a wireless charger suddenly, here’s what you can try:

    1. Charge your iPhone with another charger

The best way to tell if your iPhone works fine is to put it on another wireless charger to see if it will charge. If you don’t have another wireless charger, use the USB charger instead. Though wireless charging and wired charging don’t work the same, at least you can find out if the display of charging is typical or not.

    2. Restart your iPhone

Whether another wireless charger is working or not, restarting your phone wouldn’t go amiss. If you can’t restart the phone, such as it’s frozen, try a force restart.

    3. Update your iPhone

If restarting your iPhone doesn’t work, check if there’s a software update available. A software update can often be a quick fix for some problems.

    4. Reset your iPhone

    Hard Reset Your iPhone 5

The first thing we recommend when trying to fix any problem with your iPhone is a hard reset. Performing a hard reset can sometimes get rid of minor software glitches that might be causing your device’s malfunction.

To perform a hard reset on an iPhone 5, press and hold the home and power buttons simultaneously. Continue to hold both buttons down until the white Apple logo appears on your screen. After that, the reset should complete automatically.

Don’t be alarmed if you feel like you’ve been holding the buttons for too long and nothing’s changed. iPhones can take a surprising amount of time to hard reset, so be persistent!

Use These Tips To Keep Your Power Adapters Working Properly

iPhone NOT CHARGING Fix In 3 Minutes [2021]
    • Never charge your device when moisture is present, as this can cause fire, electric shock, injury, or damage to your Apple product or other property.
    • Make sure you’ve fully inserted your AC wall adapter or power cable into your AC adapter before connecting the AC adapter to a power outlet.
    • When you unplug a cable from your product, a power source, or an AC adapter, hold on to the connector at the end of the cable. Pulling on the cable itself can strain the connector joints or cause breakage.
    • If your AC adapter has blades or prongs that fold, be sure to fold them down for protection when you store the adapter.
    • Keep ports and connectors on your AC wall adapter and AC power cable free from foreign objects and debris.
    • Make sure your adapter is used in a well-ventilated area. If used in a poorly ventilated space like near a couch, under a blanket or on thick carpeting, the adapter might turn off to prevent overheating.

  • Check your charging cable and USB adapter for signs of damage, like breakage or bent prongs. Don’t use damaged accessories.
  • Use a wall power socket and check for firm connections between your charging cable, USB wall adapter, and wall socket or AC power cable, or try a different socket.
  • Remove any debris from the charging port on the bottom of your device, then plug your charging cable firmly into your device. If the charging port is damaged, your device probably needs service.
  • Let your device charge for half an hour.
  • If your device is still unresponsive, force-restart your device:
  • iPhone 8 or later and iPhone SE : press and quickly release the Volume Up button. Press and quickly release the Volume Down button. Press and hold the Side button until you see the Apple logo.

Before you come to the conclusion that your charger port is faulty, there are some associated things that might make it seem that way.

    Charge a Different iPhone

If your charging accessories are faulty, you won’t be able to tell the difference between that and the charger port not working.

You can make sure that your adapter and Lightning cable are working by using them to charge another iPhone. If it works properly, then the problem is your port.

    Use a New Lightning Cable

If you don’t have a spare phone, you can use a different Lightning cable to eliminate the possibility that it’s the reason why your iPhone won’t charge. It is best to use a new cable if you can get one.

    Try a Different Charger

You can try a new charger or a different wall adapter with your phone to confirm that it’s not a faulty charger causing the issue for you. Trying different iPhone chargers with the same result means that the charger is unlikely the culprit.

Try a Different Outlet for Power

You can also use the same Lightning cable and adapter and plug it into a different wall outlet.

Alternatively, you can plug the charging cable into your computer’s USB port as a power source. If it works properly, then either your wall adapter or outlet was the issue.

The new iOS update could cause certain alterations that make the iPhone not to charge or even turn on.

If you use the 3rd-party USB power adapter or cables, although it works well before the update, it will also cause iPhone charging issues after iOS update.

If your iPhone stopped charging at 80%, that’s due to software that may limit charging above that amount to extend battery life and keep your device from overheating during charging.

It would help to force quit those apps that are using significant battery life to prevent further battery drain as well as reducing strain on the device, allowing the battery temperature to drop slightly.

Perform A Dfu Restore On Your iPhone

The final home remedy we suggest if nothing else has worked is to put your iPhone in DFU mode and restore it to its factory settings. A DFU restore is the most complete factory reset you can perform on an iPhone. Essentially, it erases all of your personal information stored on the phone, and hopefully any software bugs keeping your iPhone from charging along with it.

Before you attempt a DFU restore, you’ll want to perform a full backup of your iPhone either on a computer or using iCloud. Once put into DFU mode, your iPhone will not be able to access any of your personal data, so having it backed up somewhere else is a necessity.
