Are iPhone Xr And Xs The Same Size

What Is The Difference Between iPhone Xs And Xr

iPhone Xr vs iPhone Xs – Full Comparison

One of the first things youll notice when you start making your iPhone comparison is the price. The iPhone XR is the cheaper model, but with that comes slightly less impressive specs than those of XS and XS Max models. For instance, the iPhone XR has a storage capacity of 256 GB whereas the others top out at 512 GB.

Well dive a little deeper into some of the other differences between the current iPhone models. Well go over things like the cameras and the displays translating dry specs into the actual difference you feel when you hold and use each of these iPhones.

iPhone Xs Vs iPhone Xs Max Vs iPhone Xr Design

Overall, not much has changed in the house of Apple since the release of the iPhone X toward the end of 2017 – which isnt a bad thing. All three of these models follow the same broad design: front and rear glass sandwiching an aluminum frame, with rounded corners and a healthy notch cut out of the top front display.

The widest difference between the three phones is size. The iPhone XS is the smallest, with a 5.8-inch screen – a phone ideally suited for users with smaller hands or who prefer using their device one-handed. It weighs the least, at 177g, which is respectable but still not as light as some Android phones.

Its an objectively attractive handset, with sleek glass and minimal bezel. Its two rear cameras line up vertically on the top left of the phones back. You can get it in silver, space gray, or the always-popular gold.

The iPhone XS Max is simply a larger version, with a 6.5-inch display that provides noticeably more screen real-estate. Its otherwise identical, leaving your choice down to aesthetics: do you want a larger phone? Do you mind using two hands to use it?

Finally, the iPhone XR looks similar but has a few nods toward simplicity in its design: it has a single rear lens and, instead of metallic hues, comes in bright primary colors, white, and black. Its also thicker than the other two. Its 6.1-inch screen puts it squarely between the other two phones in size, giving users a just-right option if the XS is too small and XS Max too large.

Are iPhone 11 And Xr The Same Size

The iPhone XR and iPhone 11 are exactly the same size: 5.94 x 2.98 x 0.33 inches. The iPhone SE is considerably smaller, narrower and thinner, at 5.45 x 2.65 x 0.29 inches. In the store, bigger might appear better, but long-term, your hands might thank you if you choose a smaller phone.

In the same way Is iPhone XR a good buy in 2020?

The iPhone XR now sells for as low as Rs 42,000 at times and if you want the best value for money iPhone, this is easily the phone. However, despite its low price, its not a good deal to buy the iPhone XR in 2020. Hence, despite the lower prices, the iPhone XR is still not the best value iPhone by 2020 standards.

Subsequently, How old is the XR iPhone? The iPhone XR, introduced on September 12, 2018, was sold alongside more expensive iPhones up until 2021, when it was discontinued by Apple. The iPhone XR is no longer for sale and it has been replaced by the iPhone 13, iPhone 12, and iPhone 11 models.

Apple iPhone 13 Vs iPhone Xr Xs And X: Time To Upgrade

Does the latest iPhone have the X factor?

The year is 2017. Childish Gambinos Redbone is blaring through your car stereo as the bumper-to-bumper traffic starts to get the better of you. Eventually, you arrive at the cinema, late for your 5pm screening of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. As you awkwardly squeeze past a rowdy group of teens, someone sneezes and you dont give it a second thought. The opening crawl begins and you remember to turn your phone on silent an OLED edge-to-edge display illuminates the crowd and out of habit you reach for a home button that no longer exists. Someone leans over and whispers is that the new iPhone X?

Nearly four years later, your iPhone X, iPhone XR or iPhone XS might have served you well but as it starts to slow down and the battery struggles to keep up, you might be starting to think about upgrading. The recently announced iPhone 13 is a tough sell to anyone who already invested in the iPhone 12 and even the iPhone 11, but it will be a tempting upgrade for iPhone X and XR users. Its, at the very least, a meatier sequel than The Rise of Skywalker.

iPhone 13 Price: How Much More Does It Cost

iPhone XR vs iPhone XS: How do the new Apple phones compare?

As the latest flagship Apple smartphone, you can expect to pay a mint for the iPhone 13 series. No surprises there. At its cheapest, the iPhone 13 will cost you $1,199 for the 128GB iPhone 13 mini model. The standard iPhone 13 starts at $1,349 for the 128GB model. If youre going Pro, the iPhone 13 Pro starts at $1,699 for the 128GB model and the premium iPhone 13 Pro Max starts at $1,849 for the 128GB model. At its most expensive, the iPhone 13 Pro Max 1TB model will set you back a whopping $2,719.

Theres not much point in comparing launch prices with handsets that were released over four years ago but for comparison, the iPhone X launched at $1,579 for the 64GB model and $1,829 for the 128GB model back in 2017. So pretty close, comparatively. One year later, the iPhone XR launched at $1,229 for the 64GB model, the iPhone XS 64GB started at $1,629 and the iPhone XS Max pushed the boundaries with a $1,799 starting price.

Buy The iPhone Xs Max If You Want The Biggest Screen Of Any iPhone Ever$1099

The iPhone XS Max is designed for people who love their Plus-sized smartphones. You get more screen a 6.5-inch display in a form factor thats just barely smaller than the 8 Plus.

From left to right: iPhone X, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone 8 Plus.

Apple has often bandied about the idea that the iPhone X had a bigger display than the iPhone 8 Plus. Diagonally, that was technically true. But it was never as wide, which makes a difference when youre scrolling Instagram, watching videos, or browsing the web.

First and foremost, the XS Max is a return to that big, hulking screen now with a notch and sans home button. The other benefit of going bigger is battery life. Apple says the iPhone XS Max bests the endurance of last years iPhone X by 90 minutes. But if you found past Plus phones to be unwieldy, the XS Max wont be any different.

iPhone Xr Vs Xs: Display

Not all iPhone screens are equal. The 5.8-inch iPhone XS and 6.5-inch XS Max boast vivid Super Retina OLED panels, and based on our testing, their even brighter than the screen on the iPhone X. The 6.1-inch iPhone XR features an LCD screen, which Apple dubs the Liquid Retina display.

If you’ve never upgraded to an iPhone X you’ll likely be OK sticking with the LCD-based XR and its less vibrant colors. But you will notice the more perfect blacks from the OLED iPhones and wider viewing angles should you ever see one in person.

The iPhone XR’s 6.1-inch screen is 1,792 x 828 pixels, which makes it less sharp than the Super Retina screens in the 5.8-inch iPhone XS and the 6.5-inch iPhone XS Max , though we doubt you’ll notice this at a glance.

If your hands prefer a smaller iPhone, though, you’re probably looking at this face-off with a bit of frustration, as the smallest iPhone here is still pretty big for some. The 5.4-inch iPhone 12 mini is here, though, and it’s the true replacement for the old iPhone SE.

iPhone XS vs XR – Which Should You Choose?

All of Apples new phones mimic the iPhone Xs iconic design. That means all three have near edge-to-edge displays.

  • None have a Touch ID fingerprint sensor, instead relying on Face ID for unlocking and accessing private apps. This means the notch is now commonplace across Apples 2018 phone line.
  • Other similarities include the glass rears, support for Qi wireless charging and water-resistance ratings. Its great to see Apple keep these features similar across all phones, even if the iPhone XS does have the slightly higher IP68, as opposed IP67, rating. This just means it can be submerged for a little longer.
  • There are some other big differences between the devices, though. The iPhone XR is the more colourful of the new phones, coming in a range of hues including blue, black, white, coral, yellow and red. If you plump for the iPhone XS or iPhone XS Max then colour options are limited to silver, grey or the new gold.

The phones are made up of different materials, too. The iPhone XR has aluminium sides, while the iPhone XS and XS Max both use stainless steel. Stainless steel is a bit shinier and has a more premium finish.

None of the three phones has a headphone jack something you probably should expect from Apple and it seems that Apple has removed the 3.5mm adapter from the box, too.

Did You Know You Could Save 40% on iPhones With This One Simple Trick? Read The Guide To Find Out

Phones have got bigger and bigger during the last several years. The reason? Media. , YouTube, Netflix, and the web have evolved how people use and interact with their phones. In order to make the most of images and videos, you need a large, high-resolution display. Phones are used more for multimedia consumption than making and sending calls. This is the #1 reason why theyre getting bigger.

Apple was, arguably, late to the party. It didnt start embracing larger displays until the release of the iPhone 6 in 2014. Since then, it has doubled down on larger, higher-resolution displays. The iPhone 12 Max Pro has the biggest display Apple has ever created.

In 2020, all iPhone models will feature OLED displays. You also have the most choice with respect to size with the iPhone 12 too it comes in three distinct screen sizes: 5.4in, 6.1in, and 6.7in.

The iPhone XR comes in white, black, coral, yellow, blue and red and costs $749, £749 or AU$1,229. That’s $50, £50 or AU$150 more than the iPhone 8 cost when it launched in 2017. The XR’s colors are a callback to the iPhone 5C.

Which One Is Best For You

iPhone XS vs XR

Released shortly after iPhone XS, iPhone XR offers almost all of the capabilities as the flagship model in a more affordable package. But there are a few differences youll want to consider before making your choice. Both phones feature the same powerful A12 Bionic Chip, which lies behind every feature of the phone. It offers improved face recognition, extends the abilities of the camera, runs advanced augmented reality games and apps with ease, and more. iPhone XS does have the more advanced camera, with dual lenses allowing for optical zoom and depth of field effects. However, iPhone XR makes up some of the difference by harnessing the power of its A12 Bionic chip to create those beautiful blurred background images.iPhone XS also has a more advanced, edge-to-edge OLED display, with higher resolution than iPhone XR. However, iPhone XR, with its True Tone Liquid Retina display is unlikely to disappoint. In fact its slightly larger than the iPhone XS display 6.1inches compared to 5.8.One thing that might swing many in favour of iPhone XR is the range of six vibrant new colours coral, white, black, red, blue and yellow. But ultimately its down to which one suits you. iPhone XR will do pretty much anything iPhone XS will do but iPhone XS has the edge when it comes to camera and screen.

Performance Battery Life And Charging

Theres little to split these two on performance grounds, since they both use Apples A12 Bionic processor. While not Apples latest hardware, this powerful processor will still provide smooth performance and run the most demanding of games available right now. The iPhone XS has an advantage with an extra 1GB of RAM, but its only likely to be noticed by the most hardcore of multitaskers. There are larger storage options available on the XS too, which is worth keeping in mind if you take a lot of pictures and videos.

Both phones come with support for Apples fast-charging just not with the charger in the box and have wireless charging, so both will recharge at about the same rate. Theres a slight difference in battery size though, and the iPhone XRs larger battery has a well-founded reputation for a long-lasting life. While the iPhone XS is no slouch and will easily last you a full day, youll get a touch more from the iPhone XR.

There really arent enough differences here for us to split the two. Its a draw.

What Does The R Stand For In iPhone Xr

But what does the R stand for? According to Apples marketing chief, it has to do with sports cars. I love cars and things that go fast, and R and S are both letters used to denote sport cars that are really extra special, Apples senior vice president of worldwide marketing, Phil Schiller, told Engadget.

The iPhone Xr Vs The Other New Models

The XR offers a little bit less in the way of features to allow its lower price, but it’s still an excellent phone. It even beats out the other recent iPhones in some categories.

The screen on the iPhone XR is bigger than that of the X and XS but smaller than that of the XS Max. The XR, however, has a lower resolution and pixel density than the X, XS and XS Max and lacks an HDR display.

Overall, the device is also bigger and heavier than the X and XS but smaller and lighter than the Max. Instead of the stainless steel of the XS and XS Max, the XR’s frame is made of aluminum. The back of the phone is still glass.

The XR starts to pull ahead of the older X when it comes to the processor. It features the same A12 Bionic chip and next-gen Neural Engine as the XS and XS Max. This makes it more powerful than the X and enables some features that help minimize the gap between the capabilities of the two devices.

Battery life is one of the XR’s standout categories. The A12 and updated Neural Engine enable some significant energy efficiency improvements that help give the XR the best battery life of any iPhone.

Another feature that helps the XR stand out is the range of fun, aesthetically pleasing colors it comes in coral, blue, yellow, red , white and black.

It doesn’t come in a 512 GB like the XS and XS Max, but it does offer a 128GB option that none of the other models do.
