The iPhone 11 comes equipped with Apples still-strong A13 Bionic processor. Its fast and powerful; in fact, its up to 20% faster and 40% more power-efficient than the Apple A12 Bionic chip in the iPhone XR. That said, the XR still has enough power to satisfy most peoples needs. Both these iPhones can run the latest games and apps with ease.
Both phones have the same fast charging and wireless charging capabilities, but the iPhone 11 packs a 3,111mAh, as opposed to the iPhone XRs 2,942mAh cell. While the XR already had excellent battery life, the 11 goes just a little further, so were going to give this opening round to the newer phone.

Youd be forgiven for being unable to tell the iPhone XR and 11 apart. Pretty much the only major difference is the addition of the extra camera lens on the iPhone 11, and a selection of different colors. Dimensions, weight, build materials its all pretty much the same, and it makes this category a tough one to judge.
Thankfully, theres more to it than just looks. Physical durability across the two iPhones is similar, with aluminum and glass builds, so getting a case is the best way to avoid potentially costly repairs, but the iPhone 11 has improved water-resistance, sporting an IP68-rating thats superior to the iPhone XRs IP67-rating. That means it can be submerged in up to 2 meters of water for 30 minutes without damage whereas the iPhone XR can only handle depths of 1 meter. The iPhone 11 wins narrowly.

You dont need to be a rocket scientist to see the difference between these three phones. The iPhone SE has a home button and the iPhone XR and iPhone 11 do not. But of course, the design differences are deeper than that.

The iPhone SE adheres to the iPhone design Apple introduced with the iPhone 6: it has a huge bezel and a lot of dead space around the screen. Despite that, however, its a good deal smaller than the iPhone XR and 11.

As you can plainly see, the iPhone XR and 11 are identical in size and shape. Theyre not big phones by any stretch, but the iPhone SE feels incredibly small by comparison, even with gargantuan bezels. Its also noticeably lighter, at 148 grams versus 194 grams for the iPhone 11 and XR.

In this round its all about Touch ID vs Face ID. The iPhone SE has a Touch ID sensor for unlocking the phone, authorizing App Store downloads, using Apple Pay and entering passwords. And the iPhone XR uses Face ID for all of those tasks.
In general, Face ID is more secure than Touch ID because it uses a 3D model of your face. Its also fairly convenient, and you dont have to worry about which fingers you have registered to your device. It just works, even in the dark.;
There are some benefits of Touch ID, however. You can power on and unlock your device with a single tap, and Touch ID works even if youre wearing a mask, which many people are now doing. But overall Face ID is a little more convenient and secure.

Where both devices really start to differentiate themselves is in both camera and battery.;
The iPhone XR offers a perfectly decent 12MP wide camera, but the iPhone 11 adds a second lens for Ultra Wide shots. It also adds “Night Mode” for taking pictures in low-light scenarios, as well as a brighter true-tone flash.;
The iPhone 11 has a 12MP camera on the front, too, while the iPhone XR only offers 7MP. Both offer portrait mode, but the iPhone 11 adds Stage, Stage Mono, and High-Key Mono options to the Natural, Studio and Contour images you can take on the XR.;
If you want to take videos with your front camera, only the iPhone 11’s offers 4K video at 24, 30, or 60 fps, while it also supports slo-mo. Thankfully, the rear cameras are essentially the same, save for the iPhone 11’s ability to take extended dynamic range videos at 60 fps rather than 30.;
When it comes to battery life, the iPhone 11 is, again, the winner – albeit only just, according to Apple’s benchmarks. It only offers an extra hour of video playback on top of the iPhone XR’s already impressive battery life, but given the difference between making it home to charge your phone and potentially being stranded without it, we’d opt for that extra hour as a safety net, if nothing else.
We’ve also found it to actually last even longer in real-world testing.
Water And Dust Resistance
The iPhone XR is IP67 water and dust resistant, which means that it is impervious to dust and can withstand immersion in water up to one meter deep for 30 minutes in laboratory conditions.
Though the iPhone XR can withstand splashes, rain, and brief accidental water exposure, intentional water exposure should be avoided. Apple warns that water and dust resistance are not permanent conditions and could decrease as a result of normal wear.
Apple’s warranty also does not cover any kind of water damage to iOS devices, so it’s best to use caution when exposing the iPhone XR to liquids.

Storage Capacity: The iPhone 11 storage capacities are the the same as the iPhone XR’s. You can get an iPhone 11 with 64GB, 128GB, or 256GB.

Both phones have a 12-megapixel camera, but the iPhone 11 has a second, 12-megapixel ultrawide camera and a new Night Mode for low-light photography. All in all, outdoor and well-lit photos on both devices look similarly vibrant, with consistent and bright coloring on both cameras.;
However, the iPhone 11 did take notably sharper photos with finer details, especially when pictures were viewed at full resolution. It also did a better job brightening up night time and dim photos with its new mode. The second ultrawide camera is useful when you want to fit more content into each frame or you want to capture more expansive scenes too. Its flash is a tad brighter as well, though we rarely use the feature. Lastly, we like that we can now take portrait photos of pets on the iPhone 11 . The iPhone 11 also makes use of a feature called Deep Fusion, which further improves detail and reduces image noise in photos.;

Face ID uses a detailed 3D facial scan that’s unable to be fooled by a photo, mask, or other facial imitation. An “Attention Aware” security feature allows Face ID to unlock your device only when you look in the direction of the iPhone XR with your eyes open, so it does not work when your eyes are closed, when you’re sleeping, when you’re unconscious, or when you’re looking away from your phone.
Attention aware is optional and there is an accessibility feature to turn it off for those who are unable to focus on the iPhone’s screen, but most people should leave it turned on for the added layer of security.
With the attention aware feature, the iPhone XR knows when you’re looking at it. Face ID displays notifications and messages on the Lock screen when you look at the iPhone XR, it keeps the screen lit, and it automatically lowers the volume of an alarm or ringer when it knows your attention is on the iPhone XR’s display.
If a thief demands your iPhone, Face ID can be disabled quickly and discretely by pressing on the side button and the volume button at the same time.
