Introduced in 2016, Safari Technology Preview gives users an early look at upcoming web technologies in macOS and iOS. It’s a standalone app that works alongside the latest version of Safari.
The death of Adobe Flash has been years in the making. Back in 2017, Adobe announced it would stop supporting Flash by 2020. Along with Apple, the technology in their respective browsers.
Flash was once ubiquitous on the web — the Flash runtime was installed 500 million times in the second half of 2013.

Microsoft Edge, like other browsers, doesnt officially support Adobe flash player anymore. Theres really no getting around that fact. But that has left opportunity enough for other parties to fill in the gap.
Take for example Ruffle, a flash player emulator that will help you run flash content on Microsoft Edge. Though still in development, which is also why you wont find official support for it just yet, you can easily download the Ruffle extension for Microsoft Edge and then add it as an extension manually. Heres how to go about it:
Follow the aforementioned link and download the latest Ruffle browser extension for Edge.
Once downloaded, right-click on the .zip file and select Extract all.
It doesnt matter where you extract as long as you know where youre extracting. Then click Extract.
Alternatively, you can use an archiving tool like WinRAR or 7-zip to achieve the same. Now, open Microsoft Edge and type the following in the address bar:

Press Enter. This will open up Microsoft Edges extensions page. Go full screen to make sure that you can see the extension options on the left. Alternatively, click on the hamburger icon towards the top left of the page.

To put the app to the test, I used both Safari and Puffin Web Browser Free to load Watch32, a website where you can watch movies and TV series for free and that displays them all using Flash.
On Safari, I tapped on a TV series to see if it would play. As you can see from the screenshot below, it wouldnt even show where the series is supposed to be playing.
Then I did the same on Puffin Web Browser Free. To my surprise, not only did it recognize the content as Flash, but it started playing the series almost immediately. It suffered from a bit of slowdown during the first few seconds, but it quickly started running smoothly.
As you see, the Puffin Web Browser Free app not only allows you to play Flash videos on your iPhone or other iOS device, it also gives you some nice additional options, like the choice of watching Flash video in full screen or watch it play right on the page as you can see below.
Now, one last thing to note before we conclude: While Puffin Web Browser Free comes at no cost, it limits its Flash support to 2 weeks. If you really watch a lot of Flash movies, then the $2.99 for the Pro version of the application will be a small and completely worthy investment.

Apple Is Betting On A Different Standard
Although Adobe Flash powers most of the interactive Web applications for full-featured computers, Apple has set its eyes on HTML 5 with the introduction of the iPhone 3.0 OS. HTML 5 makes obsolete plug-in-based technologies such as Adobe Flash and Microsoft Silverlight, because its open source and has similar multimedia capabilities to Adobes and Microsofts solutions.
Apple is quite involved in the development of the HTML 5 standard as well, and the technology is already being implemented into browsers before the standard is final. Oh, and the editors of the HTML 5 standard are David Hyatt of Apple and Ian Hickinson of Google. Why Did Flash Shut Down
Flash has been around since the ’90s. And while that doesn’t speak to its security or functionality, there were multiple things over the years that ultimately brought about its demise.
The biggest reason was security. With a huge part of the tech world running Flash, it became a massive target for hackers, forcing Adobe to release updates often to patch problems. It also offered poor performance, causing some users to see full CPU usage when viewing web pages with Flash content.
It was in 2007 that users witnessed one of the first big nails in the coffin. This was when Apple released the first iPhone, which from the very beginning has never supported Flash.
