Why Is My Apple Watch Not Alerting Me Of Messages
While pinging is a slightly different issue than your Apple Watch not alerting you to messages, it’s important to know why that might be a problem. To figure out how to fix the issue, it’s useful to troubleshoot why it might be occurring. Typically, message alerts aren’t arriving for fairly simple reasons.
Check if Do Not Disturb or Airplane Mode is switched off. Check your Apple Watch’s Control Center to confirm that both modes are switched off on your device. If either is activated, you won’t receive any messages or other notifications .
Check your connection. Check that the connection between your Apple Watch and iPhone is stable and working. If the connection has dropped, you won’t be able to receive messages on your Apple Watch.
Re-pair your devices. If the connection between the two devices isn’t correctly working, try re-pairing or resyncing your Apple Watch.
Set Up Apple Watch iPhone Left Behind Alert
In order to set up the Notify When Left Behind alerts, you need to follow these steps:
Pro Tip: The Notify Me, Except At feature can be useful for a device that you generally leave there, like a MacBook, but you may want to skip this for phones or an AirTag thats on your keys or wallet so that you do get notified if you leave them at home as you likely want them with you at all times.

Ping Lost iPhone & Make The Camera Flash Blink
Another neat trick is a variation of the ping method, which causes the camera flash on the iPhone to blink in addition to the device sounding the normal dinging sound. The trick with this is to simply hold down the Ping button and the iPhone will both blink the camera flash in addition to making the chiming ping sound effect. This is great for finding a lost iPhone in a dark room, or if its stuck under a car seat or something similar.
For a video demonstration of this feature, Apple ran an Apple Watch commercial called find which shows off how to use the pinging feature from the Watch to track down an iPhone, that video is embedded below:
As mentioned before, if the Apple Watch shows a red Disconnected message you wont be able to ping the iPhone, and instead youd need to rely on finding the lost iPhone with iCloud which can also ping a device and place it on a map, that method has the benefit of being accessible from another iOS device or web browser.
If youve tried both iCloud and the Apple Watch and still cant find the device, youll probably want to place it in lost mode with Remote Lock so that its unusable without your Apple ID.
Using Google Maps Timeline
Similar to Apple, Google can also help you track the physical whereabouts of all your devices using the Google Maps app. The app has a timeline feature that gives you an overview of all the places youve been with your phone. If location history is enabled on your iPhone, you can check where exactly you might have last used your phone, whether or not is it still active and when and where was it last active from.
Prerequisites:
You need to have the Google Maps app installed on your iPhone and enable Location Services and Location History on your Google account. After installing the Google Maps app, tap on your profile picture at the top right, and select Settings.
In the Settings screen, tap on Personal content under the Account Settings section.
Make sure that you enable Location Services and Location History inside the Personal content screen.
How to track your iPhone
Once youve taken care of the above prerequisites, you will be able to track your iPhone at any time as long as its connected to the internet. If your phone went missing, go to using a web browser or Your timeline and select the date you last had your device.
If you are tracking your iPhones current location, click on Today at the top of the left sidebar. If your phone went missing sometime before today, select the date that was last recorded in the Maps timeline.
