The iPhone SE runs on Apple’s newer A15 Bionic processor while the iPhone 12 runs on the A14 Bionic. Essentially, the iPhone SE runs on the same processor as the iPhone 14, which is to say it’s quick and powerful.
Still, the A14 Bionic in the iPhone 12 is no slouch, and it’s only one generation older than the iPhone SE and iPhone 14’s processors.
The third-generation iPhone SE is a newer phone released in 2022 compared to the 2020 iPhone 12, which means it could get an extra two years of support for iOS updates, which include important security patches.

Even though its smaller than the other phones in Apples lineup , it uses a modern processor thats fast enough for pretty much any task. It also takes very good photos, and it offers all of this while costing $400 less than the 128 GB iPhone 13. If you generally like smaller devices, prefer using a fingerprint instead of Face ID to unlock, or simply dont want to pay the premium for a larger iPhone, the SE is a great option.
Despite its lower price, the iPhone SE should last you for years. It uses the same A13 Bionic processor as 2019s iPhone 11 and 11 Pro, and it ran apps and played games without any slowdowns or hiccups in our testing. And Apple has shown a commitment to extending the life of its iOS handsets through software updates for two or three years longer than equivalent Android phones like Googles Pixel series or Samsungs Galaxy series enjoy 2015s iPhone 6s, for example, can still run 2021s iOS 15. We expect a similar lifespan for the iPhone SE.

Design: iPhone X’s Bigger Sharper Display
Despite being three years older, the iPhone X still looks modern and its stainless-steel design comes off as more premium than the iPhone SE’s aluminum body. Besides its obvious screen notch, the iPhone X is also bigger, and has a sharper display with a higher resolution and pixel density. It has an OLED screen, too, as opposed to the iPhone SE’s LCD display. In general, OLED screens are regarded to have better image quality and color contrast, but they also cost more and may suffer burn-in. The iPhone X’s screen is notably brighter, especially at different viewing angles, and it’s a tad more vibrant. I’ve been using an iPhone X for the past three years and haven’t noticed any burn-in issues.

The iPhone SE is Apple’s only new iPhone that has a physical home button. Some people may prefer that because it’s intuitive to use and you don’t have to use swipe gestures to return to the home screen or call up recent apps like you would on the iPhone X.
