Locate Family And Friends
By default, you may already be able to see the locations of any members of your Apple Family. Open the Find My app and tap People. The names of anyone sharing their location with you will then appear on a map. You can then tap a person’s name to interact with them.
Tap Contact to call, email, or text them. Tap Directions to launch Apple Maps with step-by-step directions to their location. Tap the Add link under Notifications to receive a notification when that person arrives at or leaves a certain location.
If the location of an Apple family member is not visible, you may have to ask them to enable sharing with you. To do that on their iPhone, have the family member go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Share My Location. They can then tap your name under the Family section of the Find My screen, then tap . You can be sure it worked when you receive a notification on your iPhone that they are now sharing their location.
Sharing Your Location With Apple Family Sharing
Family Sharing is Apples inclusive family plan that allows you to share iCloud storage and subscriptions to services like Music and TV+. Family Sharing must be set up by the family organizer in order for this to work.
Once other family members have been added, they can turn on location sharing by launching Settings, tapping their name at the top of the list, and then tapping Find My and enabling the Share My Location toggle.
From here, tap on any family members listed at the bottom to decide whether to share or not share your location with them. To stop sharing, revisit this menu and disable Share My Location, or tap on each family member and make changes.
Opting out of Family Sharing will also prevent your location from being shared.

Enable Icloud Location Sharing
When you turn on iCloud location sharing, youll be able to share your location over iCloud Family and Messages. iCloud location sharing is most useful with iOS and iPadOS devices on both sides.
The same switch also enables location tracking for everyone in your iCloud Family. Members of your iCloud Family will be automatically invited to share your location in the Find My app. Once you set up iCloud Family Sharing, you can flip this switch to automatically share your location with all iCloud Family members continuously.
1. Open the Settings app on an iOS device.
2. Tap your name and icon at the top of the Settings app.
3. Further down the screen, select Find My.
4. Turn on the Find My toggle at the top.
5. On the resulting screen, there are options for helping you locate your iPhone: Find My iPhone, Find My Network, and Send Last Location. If finding your iPhone is important to you , turn these on.
6. Flip back to the previous screen and turn on the Share My Location toggle.

If you would like to disable iCloud location tracking completely on your iOS device, turn the Share My Location toggle to the off position.

Location Sharing Via Whatsapp
You can also share your location via WhatsApp from 15 minutes to 8 hours. Unfortunately, its not possible to share your location indefinitely with your WhatsApp contacts.
Launch WhatsApp, log in, and select or start a conversation with the person or group youd like to share your location with. Tap on the plus + icon near the message bar and select Location, followed by Share Live Location.
If you havent already done so, WhatsApp will tell you that you need to allow the app access to your location even when you arent using it. You can complete this step under Settings > WhatsApp by changing Location to Always and making sure that Precise Location is enabled.

Hide Precise Location & Show Approximate Location
You can hide your location from anyone by turning off Precise Location in the Find My and Messages apps. This is perfect if you dont have access to an extra iPhone or iPad to share your location from. Turning off Precise Location means that others will be able to see which city youre in, but not the specific address.
In iOS 14, Apple added the Precise and Approximate location feature for privacy. This allows apps to serve you personalized content without knowing exactly where you are. For example, news apps probably only need to know which city or town youre in to serve you relevant articles. They dont need to know exactly where you are.
