When you buy an iPhone, you have several options. You can choose from a few different models you can pick a color you can select how much storage you want. The Phone 13 starts at 128 GB, and you have three other options, 256 GB, 512 GB, or 1 TB. This amount affects what you can put on the device: apps, photos, videos, music, etc.

But you never see any options for RAM.

If you look at specs for new Android phones however, youll see how much RAM the devices have. Take , for example. If you look at the specs for the phones, youll see that “Memory & Storage” is a section in the specs. The Pixel 5 has 8 GB RAM, and the Pixel 4 models only have 6 GB RAM. Might those two extra gigabytes of RAM sway a potential purchaser to opt for a more expensive phone?

Ram Memory Of An iPhone

Here is the amount of RAM that all Apple iPhones have, from first to last:

  • iPhone : 128 MB.
  • iPhone 6 Plus: 1 GB.
  • iPhone 6s: 2 GB.
  • iPhone 6s Plus: 2 GB.

What You Need To Know

  • The iPhone 13 and iPhone 12 feature the same amount of RAM.
  • The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini have 4GB of RAM.
  • The iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max feature 6GB of RAM.

There doesn’t appear to be any bump in RAM with the iPhone 13 when compared with the iPhone 12.

As reported by MacRumors, code found within the Xcode 13 beta has revealed that there is no RAM difference between the iPhone 12 lineup and the new iPhone 13 lineup.

The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini contain 4GB of RAM while the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max feature 6GB of RAM. This is unchanged from the way RAM was distributed among the iPhone 12 models.

The outlet says that the same code accurately revealed the amount of RAM in the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro last year, so it’s safe to assume this year is no different.

Apple never advertises the amount of RAM in iPhones, but based on strings contained within the Xcode 13 beta, MacRumors can confirm that iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max models are equipped with 6GB of RAM, while the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini have 4GB of RAM. These amounts are unchanged from the iPhone 12 lineup.

The same Xcode strings accurately revealed the amount of RAM in iPhone 12 models last year and in several previous iPhone generations.

Why Does Apple Not Say The Ram Of The iPhone

    How to check iPhone storage

In its day we already explained the reason why the iPhone have less RAM than an Android, the difference in capacity between devices being very notable in recent times. In summary we could say that iOS, the iPhone operating system, requires fewer resources to function and therefore Apple can afford to install lower memories on its devices and still guarantee its correct operation, without slowness or applications failing if many are opened at the same time. Precisely in this would be the reason that Apple does not give official information about it.

At the image level, it is very bad to see that a last generation iPhone has less RAM than a competitors Android and although this has its explanation in what we discussed above, perhaps many not so knowledgeable users tend to believe that they will have problems with your device for that reason. But then how can we know how much RAM an iPhone has? Well, thanks to the disassemblies that are made of these equipment and to be able to check what parts they have inside. Perhaps a user with the naked eye cannot measure this, but the professionals can. There are also tools that test the performance of phones and are capable of giving the RAM data.

Why iPhones Need Less Ram Than Android Phones

Apple never highlights RAM numbers while launching its iPhones. Because the numbers are not worthy of boasting and iPhones need less RAM than Android phones.

Can you believe that Apple launched iPhone SE in 2020 and it merely had a RAM of 3 GB?

While Samsung and One Plus are giving 8 GB and 12 GB of RAM in their flagship phones respectively, iPhones top model has a RAM of 4 GB. Thats iPhone 11 Pro Max.

Meanwhile, Chinese smartphone brands are racing for the numbers 8 GB, 12 GB, 16 GB and so on.

Yet they never beat the performance of an iPhone. Now comes the real question Why?

RAM is an important specification on your smartphone. The amount your phone has can greatly impact performance. If youre curious how much RAM you have on your Android phone, well show you how to find out.

To see how much RAM is on your Android phone, you first have to enable the hidden Developer Options menu. You can do a lot with these lesser-known settings, including seeing your phones memory usage.

First, swipe down from the top , and then tap the gear icon to open the Settings menu.

Next, scroll all the way down and select About Phone.

At the bottom, tap Build Number repeatedly until the You are now a developer message appears.

Then, go back to the main Settings menu and tap System.

Tap the new Developer Options section. If you dont see it, check in the Advanced section.

At the top of the page, youll see Memory, as well as how much memory you have, but you can tap this option to see more information.

    The Best Status Monitor App

How To Check Available Memory/Storage – Apple iPhone 6s/6s Plus

There is something strange going on with these apps and the amount of storage reported and they cannot seem to agree. Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage and at the top is the storage used.

Only one app showed the same figure as iOS and that was System Status Lite. The other apps seemed to add the System usage right down at the bottom of the screen.

That cant be right because my iPad says 12GB used at the top and 6GB System at the bottom, which adds up to 18GB used on a 16GB iPad. The apps seemed to show a different figure in this case, more than iOS said, but not adding the two figures together either. The storage used and free was therefore very confusing, except for System Status Lite.

Lirum Device Info has a huge amount of information about the iPhone and iPad, and you can monitor and test every feature in the device. It is the best of the bunch, but I also like the display of Battery Memory System Status Monitor.

How Much Ram Is In My iPhone

Apple doesnt specify how much RAM is in an iPhone, but its not hard to find out. There are tools that provide a great deal of data about an iPhone, and you can find databases, such as MacTracker, that list this information for all Apple devices.

The very first iPhone had just 128 MB RAM, and the latest model, the iPhone 13, has either 4 or 6 GB RAM.

    • iPhone : 128 MB
    • iPhone 13 mini: 4 GB
    • iPhone 13 Pro: 6 GB
    • iPhone 13 Pro Max: 6 GB

You may notice that, with some recent models starting with the iPhone 7 Plus larger or “Pro” iPhones have more RAM. For example, the iPhone 13 comes with 4 GB standard, whereas the Pro models have 6 GB. Yet you may also notice that this is less than the latest Google Pixel phone, which comes with either 6 GB or 8 GB.

    Make A Shortcut For Assistivetouch

If you’re not planning on using this RAM-clearing on a frequent basis, you can go ahead and scroll down to the third step. But if you want to make a habit of regularly employing this trick, we highly recommend setting up a shortcut to instantly enable and disable AssistiveTouch on your iPhone on the fly without having to access the Settings app each time.

To do so, go back to “Accessibility,” scroll all the way down to the bottom, and hit “Accessibility Shortcuts,” then make sure “AssistiveTouch” is checked on the following page. Now, the AssistiveTouch icon will instantly open or close whenever you triple-click the Side button.

It’s worth noting that if you have Accessibility Shortcut enabled for other features besides AssistiveTouch, triple-clicking on your iPhone’s Side button will yield a menu from which you can select “AssistiveTouch” to enable or disable the feature, as you can see in the screenshot below.

Once you have “AssistiveTouch” enabled an accessibility shortcut, you also have the option to enable the “Accessibility Shortcuts” toggle in the Control Center for even more access to AssistiveTouch. It’s also great if you just don’t find the Side button command to your liking.

How To Clear iPhone RAM Memory

The Finder and iTunes categorize cached music, videos, and photos as Other instead of actual songs, videos, or photos. Cached files are created when you stream or view content like music, videos, and photos. When you stream music or video, that content is stored as cached files on your device so you can quickly access it again.

Your device automatically removes cached files and temporary files when your device needs more space.
