Delete Unused Or Unnecessary Storage

The easiest way to free up gigabytes of space on your iPhone is by deleting apps that you don’t use that take up a lot of room. When you navigate your way from Settings to the Manage Storage tab, it’s easy to identify which apps are taking up the most space. Start at the top and work your way down, removing any apps that you find unnecessary. And if you’re willing to part with social networking apps, start by deleting video-heavy ones that suck up your data .

Live Photo: Capture Movement

Have you ever wished your photos had a little bit of motion to them? Well, thats exactly what a Live Photo does. You take a Live Photo just like a normal one, except it captures a few seconds before and after the picture was taken. When you tap and hold on the photo, it plays as a short video.

To turn on Live Photos, open the Camera app and tap on the round icon at the top of the screen. Youll know its on when the icon turns yellow. And from there just take your photo as usual. To turn the feature off, tap on the icon again, and it will revert back to white and have a line through it.

If for some reason you dont like the photo maybe its out-of-focus or someone is blinking you can change whats called the Key Photo. Just tap Edit, and a timeline will appear at the bottom allowing you to select the best frame to use as the Key Photo.

How To Fix iPhone Camera Not Working Due To Hardware

Hardware issues can often be easy to diagnose. Here’s what to look for.

  • Remove any lens obstruction. Lens obstruction is one of the more common reasons why your iPhone camera isn’t taking pictures. First, make sure your hand or fingers aren’t blocking the lens. It’s easy to do, especially when you’re excited to capture that perfect shot. Second, check if your phone case is wholly or partially blocking the lens. Some cases can be installed upside down on the iPhone.

  • Clean the camera lens. Many of us shove our phones into pockets and bags with the lens exposed to whatever is lurking there. Take a clean microfiber cloth and wipe the lens. A dirty lens can also affect focus and cause your pictures to be blurry. So, if you have blurry photos or your camera does not focus properly, a quick wipe could fix all that ails your iPhone.

  • Avoid overheating. When an iPhone gets too hot, things malfunction. If your phone is overheating, you should see an on-screen message stating the iPhone needs to cool down before you use it. If you see this message, turn off your iPhone for a few minutes to give it a chance to cool. If you haven’t seen this message but your iPhone feels hot to the touch, power it off.

Even as few as 10 minutes can make a difference in the temperature of your phone. However, if it begins to overheat again for no apparent reason, go to your local Apple Store or the Apple Support website for repair or replacement details.

Digital Filter Instead Of Glass Filter On iPhone

Best iPhone 12 Camera Settings for Photo & Video.

Hi, a friend of mine, a molecular biologist, takes photos of DNA on electrophoresis gels. Upon illuminating the gel with blue light, green fluorescent DNA bands are revealed in the gel. To better capture the band image, the entire gel is conventionally photographed through an orange filter. Recently, my friend noticed that his iPhone is able to take gel pictures as clear as a dedicated digital camera, with the orange glass filter apposed to the iPhone. An alternative would be to take the photo without the physical filter, but using a software color filter on the iPhone. Would that be that feasible? Thanking for your kindness

Hdr: Shoot In Difficult Lighting Conditions

You may have seen the HDR badge in your Camera app before and wondered what it does and when to use it. An oversimplified description of HDR in the Camera app is that it takes three photos at different exposure and combines them using the best pieces from each. Youll find that incredibly helpful when youre trying to take photos in overly bright or dark conditions.

If youre not a fan of HDR, you can turn it off by tapping the badge in the Camera app. Alternatively, set it to Auto and let the Camera decide when to shoot in HDR.

Your iPhone takes both an HDR and non-HDR photo by default. You can tell which version youre looking at in the Photos app by the HDR badge in the top left corner of the picture. If youd rather not keep two almost identical photos, just go to Settings > Camera and turn off the Keep Normal Photo toggle.

Reset iPhone Camera Filter In Ios 7

Im so frustrated, Dave! I was messing around with the built-in camera filters on my iPhone 5s and now it seems to be stuck on that filter, and I cant just take regular photos any more. HELP!

Its a curious design decision on Apples part to allow you to pick one of the eight built-in photo processing filters for the current photo and have it remember that basically forever, until you disable the filter. Id expect that it would reset after the current photo, but then perhaps people would complain that they have to keep selecting a photo filter if they prefer it to the default normal image processing model. Ya cant win.

Turns out that the camera app actually shows you that theres a filter selected for photo processing, but its crazy subtle, so subtle that I had to poke around to figure things out myself. How did I know? I didnt, actually, I just noticed that the photos I was taking with my iPhone 5s were suddenly all yellow and not up to their usual quality.

To demonstrate how to tell when the filter is enabled and how to disable it, I have selected a very dramatic one: high contract black & white.

This means that when I go to take a photo, I face this rather weird preview:

Notice that the three circle icon on the top right are shown as three bright, primary colors. Thats how you know a filter is active. I warned you it was subtle, didnt I?

When I take the photo, the result is, unsurprisingly, black & white:

    Soo. tap on it.

Are You Using A Third Party Camera App

Apple is known for having some of the best built-in apps. If youve noticed that the iPhone camera is not working when you use a third-party camera app, the problem is probably being caused by that app. Third-party camera apps are more prone to crashes than the native Camera app.

When taking pictures or videos, the iPhones built-in Camera app is the most reliable option. However, if you want to keep using your third-party app, there are a couple things you can try.

First, close and reopen the third-party camera app. To do this, open the app switcher by double-clicking the Home button or swiping up from the bottom to the center of the screen .

If that doesnt work, try deleting and reinstalling the app. To uninstall an iPhone app, gently press and hold its icon on the Home screen until your apps begin to wiggle. Tap the X on the app you want to uninstall, then tap Delete.

Open the App Store and find the app to reinstall it. If the black camera problem persists, youll probably want to find an alternative, or just use the native Camera app.
