Apple iPhone 12 Series: Performance And Software
As far as performance is concerned, the great news is that it stays the same across the board. Youll get different amounts of RAM with these phones, but all of them come with the A14 Bionic chip. iPhones usually lead the industry in performance, and that remains true here. David found it to be incredibly fast with everyday use in his reviews. It also handily beats the Snapdragon 865-toting OnePlus 8T and the Asus ROG Phone 3 as well in our own Speed Test G benchmark.
The iPhone 12 Pro performed really well in all the benchmark tests that David conducted in his review. He also had no issues with slowdowns or laggy apps, and the excellent performance is a great sign as far as longevity is concerned. With Apples persistent software updates lasting up to five years, you can be sure the iPhone 12 series will be supported for years to come.
Speaking of software, iOS 14 Apple has added a considerable number of features that have been on Android for years. Possibly the biggest addition to iOS 14 is widgets. Any app developer can create a widget for their app, in multiple sizes and shapes. This makes it much easier to control things like podcasts from your home screen or get a weather report at a glance.
How To Buy iPhone 11
The iPhone 11 is available from the Apple online store, Apple retail locations, and third-party retailers. The iPhone 11 is priced starting at $599 for the 64GB model. There’s also a 128GB model for $649, and a 256GB model for $749. Apple in February 2021 began selling refurbished iPhone 11 models at a $100 to $170 discount.
The Biggest iPhone With The Best Cameras: iPhone 13 Pro Max
You probably already know if youre a big-screen person or pro-phone person, and if you arent one, you dont have a lot of reasons to get the Pro Max version of the iPhone 13. We think almost anyone will find the iPhone 13s screen to be roomy enough, but the iPhone 13 Pro Max has an even larger, 6.7-inch screen that makes games easier to play, video more pleasant to watch, and typing feel less cramped. The screen is even bigger than those on older large phones such as the iPhone XS Max and 11 Pro Max, but the body has grown only a few millimeters. And thanks to that bigger screen and body, theres more room inside the iPhone 13 Pro Max for a larger, longer-lasting battery than in the other iPhone 13 models. The cameras on the Pro models are better, too, and theres one more of them . These Pro models also support ProMotion, Apples variable-refresh-rate screen technology, which is another nice-to-have but not altogether necessary feature.
To get fair comparisons, we ran battery stress tests with the Geekbench 4 diagnostic app. The larger iPhone 13 Pro Max lasted for 6 hours 58 minutes with the screen brightness turned all the way up, whereas the iPhone 13 survived for 5 hours 42 minutes in our measurements . The larger body has its drawbacks, though, as many people will find the 13 Pro Max too big for their hands, their pockets, or both.

Apple Special Event Dates
Apple Special Events are held every year to announce new products and accessories. These dates are important to know because you’ll be able to see just what the new iPhone model will have. Although not everyone is invited to these events, since they’re usually for media only, they are always streamed live, so you can tune in from the comfort of your own home.
Apple usually announces the new iPhones during a Special Event held in September each year unveiling:
- New features
- Release dates
You can expect the newest iPhone models to be available for preorder shortly after and the actual phones to be shipped within weeks of the event.
You Should Buy This If
You have an iPhone XR or older
While those with an iPhone 11 will almost certainly notice some performance jump, most people hold on to iPhones for three or four years now, and for good reason: they hold up fairly well. But if you’re on 2018’s iPhone XR, XS, or something older, you’ll really benefit from the updated battery, cameras, and overall performance of the iPhone 13.
Cameras aren’t your highest priority
The iPhone 13’s cameras are great, but they’re not on quite the same level as the iPhone 13 Pro. Not only are you missing a telephoto camera, but the iPhone 13 will also miss out on ProRes video when it arrives for the iPhone 13 Pro later this year. The wide camera on the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max is also slightly better, with even bigger pixels and a wider lens aperture.
You love a colorful phone
Another year, another round of insistence from Apple that color isn’t for “Pros.” Apple’s mainstream phone lineup has always had more interesting and varied color options than the Pro line, and this year is no exception.

No More Lightning Port
One of the stranger rumours that seems to be picking up traction is that Apple will ditch the Lightning port on the iPhone 13 and feature no ports at all.
Rather than rely on cables for charging, all power will be delivered wirelessly. This would instantly render many accessories and power banks redundant, but Apple has never been shy about making unpopular decisions in the past.
There’s also an interesting sidebar to this issue, which is that the EU has been on the warpath for a while about proprietary charging standards, and it looks like a draft law forcibly standardising smartphone ports will happen in 2021.
In theory this could oblige Apple to produce a USB-C iPhone for sale in Europe – and even more theoretically, could encourage it to base all its new iPhones on USB-C so as to avoid the production inefficiency of making more than one design. But it’s hard to see a company as large and powerful as Apple bowing to mid-level political pressure in this way.
Our suspicion is that the portless iPhone, discussed by fans for so long, will not become a reality for some time yet. One day it will happen, but we doubt that day will be in 2021.
And finally, there’s just time for a quick mention of MagSafe. Not the MagSafe standard used by the iPhone 12 and family to attach wireless chargers to their rear, but a new magnetic cable standard that’s far closer to the old MagSafe used by MacBooks.
Actually, it’s probably easier if you look at this illustration:
Water And Dust Resistance
The iPhone 11 has an IP68 water resistance rating, which is up from IP67 in the previous-generation iPhone XR. It’s rated to survive a depth of up to two meters for up to 30 minutes. Two meters is double the depth rating of the iPhone XR, but half that of the iPhone 11 Pro.
The iPhone 11 Pro has is able to stand up to submersion in water up to four meters deep for up to 30 minutes.
With an IP68 water resistance rating, the iPhone 11 can withstand splashes, rain, and brief accidental water exposure, but intentional water exposure should be avoided. Apple warns that water and dust resistance are not permanent conditions and deteriorate as a result of normal wear.
Apple’s warranty does not cover liquid damage to iOS devices so it’s best to use caution when exposing the iPhone 11 to liquids.

iPhone 12 Mini: November 13 2020
The iPhone 12 mini is a surprisingly small but still very powerful addition to the iPhone family. This thin and incredibly light smartphone measures in at just 5.4 inches and includes the new, powerful A14 Bionic chip for a considerable boost in performance over previous models. It also features Apple’s latest Super Retina XDR OLED display and a host of camera upgrades, but still comes with a dual-lens arrangement. The only notable differences between the iPhone 12 mini and the iPhone 12 are that the mini is smaller and has an estimated battery life that’s 2 hours shorter than that of the larger iPhone 12.
You Should Not Buy This If
You need the best cameras out there
The iPhone 13 Pro has better cameras than the iPhone 13. It has a better wide camera, as well as a telephoto lens . The iPhone 13 Pro also has macro mode, which lets you get really close to a subject. As I previously mentioned, the iPhone 13 Pro will also get the ProRes video shooting later this year, which the regular iPhone 13 won’t get.
You want a higher-refresh display
The ProMotion display on the iPhone 13 Pro line is slick. Quick and smooth, it feels like a genuine leap when viewed next to the locked 60Hz of the iPhone 13. If that smoothness is something you want, you’ll want to go Pro. The thing about ProMotion is that it’s not just 120Hz, it has a variable refresh rate, meaning that it slows way down to preserve battery life when it doesn’t need the quick motion, making it a better option than many high-refresh displays from Apple’s rivals.
The people who should buy the iPhone 13 are those who are looking for the best iPhone available that don’t want to go Pro. You want excellent cameras, a better battery, improved performance, but you don’t need the absolute best that Apple has to offer and the price tag that comes with it. This is the iPhone most people looking to get one should buy.

Thus far iPhone 13 owners have encountered a few problems. For example, some iPhone 13 users are finding that the phone won’t unlock with an Apple Watch, though a fix apparently is on the way. In addition, some iPhone 13 owners are complaining about the touch display not being responsive enough in some cases, which could be an iOS 15 issue.
On the iPhone 13 Pros, there are complaints that the cameras are automatically switching between lenses without warning, and Apple will be rolling out an update that will enable users to turn this off. And the ProMotion displays on the iPhone 13 Pros are not running at 120Hz with some apps, which Apple will be addressing in an update. And developers need to optimize their apps as well.

The iPhone 12 Pro Will Reportedly Come With A Lidar Sensor Like The iPad Pro
One of the standout features of the iPhone 12 Pro compared to the standard model is expected to be its Lidar sensor, according to Bloomberg. That sensor, which is already present on the 2020 iPad Pro, is geared toward improving performance in augmented reality apps. It measures the distance between objects by measuring how long it takes for light to reach a subject and reflect back.

iPhone 13 Specs And Features
As is tradition, the series is getting an improved processor all four models now offer Apples A15 Bionic chip. The new chip is based on the 5nm process, not a 3nm process as some rumors indicated. But it still should give an already super powerful chip a little extra oomph. Its a 6-core CPU with two high-performance cores and four high-efficiency cores.
The storage amounts are being updated too. Apple has done away with the 64GB storage option, meaning that the base iPhone now offers 128GB. This will be helpful for those who like to store lots of files and media on their device though those that rely heavily on cloud services may not notice much of a difference. And, theres a new 1TB storage option too.
The devices have improved 5G performance too. Now, the device supports C-band 5G networks, which could play a large role in 5G deployment over the next few years.

iPhone Naming Confusion In 2017
In 2016, Apple showed off the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
So for 2017, everybody expected Apple to launch an iPhone 7S and iPhone 7S Plus.
This seemed like an odd move, given that the phones were barely any different from the previous year’s model.
iPhone 13 Release Date And Price
The iPhone 13 series was announced on September 14 at the company’s launch event, with pre-orders opening on September 17. The iPhone 13 release date is September 24, and unlike with 2020’s iPhone 12 series you’ll be able to buy the new handsets on the same day.
The iPhone 13 starts at $799 / £779 / AU$1,349, which is the same price as the iPhone 12 in the US and Australia, and a touch cheaper in the UK. The iPhone 12 cost $799 / £799 / AU$1,349 at launch.
Youll get 128GB of storage for that price Apple has dropped its 64GB models this year, and not before time. If you need more storage, the 256GB iPhone 13 costs $899 / £879 / AU$1,519, while the 512GB model costs $1,099 / £1,079 / AU$1,869.
If those prices are a bit of a stretch, the iPhone 13 mini has similar specs but is a not-insignificant amount cheaper, starting at $699 / £679 / AU$1,199, while going in the other direction youve got the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max if youre looking for higher specs and, in the case of the latter phone, a larger screen.

Does The iPhone 13 Pro Have A 120hz Refresh Rate
Both Pro models now get a higher 120Hz refresh rate, which makes animations and scrolling look smoother and gaming more immersive. Android phones, whether they are expensive or not, commonly feature a high refresh rate screen. Up to now, the only Apple device to offer such a refresh rate was the iPad Pro, which uses an LCD screen instead of the OLED found on the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max. Here’s some more information on the iPhone 13’s 120Hz refresh rate, ProMotion and why it may not work exactly the way you think.
