Does Fitbit Versa 2 Work With iPhone

Must read

Which Should You Buy: Fitbit Or Apple Watch

Fitbit Sense, Versa 3 & 2 Works With iPhone!

If fitness is your primary focus then we think the Fitbit trackers come out on top , but the Apple Watch, of course, offers a lot more than just activity tracking and heart-rate monitoring.

The expanding Apple Watch app ecosystem will make the Watch a much more versatile wearable than a dedicated fitness band. And the new Apple Watch Series 6 with built-in GPS and 4G is a major advance in Apple creating a proper activity tracker, despite its improved but comparatively poor battery life.

But that comes at a pretty steep price.

The Fitbits offer much better battery life , and so don’t have to be charged every night while you sleep.

Detailed sleep monitoring can be nearly as enlightening to the state of ones health as ones daytime exercise routine. While Apple has added a Sleep app, its weaker battery life makes this troublesome for users. Sleep tracking on the Fitbit is much easier, although Fitbit does hide some of the metrics back for its Premium subscribers.

And we love the motivation offered by Fitbits Friends league.

Crucially, if you have an Android, the Apple Watch is simply not for you. Without an iPhone, its pretty useless.

Apple Watch users dont need to get a Fitbit as well as their prized digital timepiece, but runners and the fitness nuts should consider adding some third-party apps or a dedicated sports watch from Garmin, Suunto or Polar, or try out the Ionic.

I know I cant use quick replies to text or calls but can I reply through watch at all? Does Alexa work and can you use the voice activation? Is there any other feature that wont work with an iPhone? Im stuck!

Hi . Welcome to the Community Forums.

Thanks for your interest in the Versa 2, and let me help you with your inquiry. Most of the features in the Fitbit app and device will work on your iPhone, such as notifications, Alexa, music control and connected GPS. The exception is with the quick replies and the microphone function to reply back to the incoming notifications. Also, when setting up your calendar notifications you’ll need to choose the native calendar app so it can work. To know more about the Versa 2 and its features, I’d recommend to check the User Manual.

My Versa 2 worked great for first two months. Now when I try to log water intake from the watch it logs incorrect information and if I log it through app it doesnt sync properly. Plus I have to constantly refresh and sync. To get the weather. Annoying

How Do You Use Alexa On The Fitbit Versa 2

How To Sync Fitbit Versa 2 To Phone

You can now use Alexa on your Versa 2 to do things like set timers and alarms, find out what the temperature is, set reminders, control smart home devices that are connected to your Alexa app, and ask common questions like “how tall is the Statue of Liberty.”

Because the Versa 2 does not have speakers, Alexa will respond to text on the screen. I find this preferable, as I don’t like it when Siri blurts out answers when I ask it things in public. Alexa skills will work with the Versa 2 if they can display feedback as text on the watch’s screen. So, if you have Alexa skills that work on your Echo Spot or Echo Show, they should work on the Versa 2.

It is worth pointing out that you have to press the side button to activate Alexa’s listening capabilities. Also, Fitbit does not collect or store any voice data or audio clips from the Versa 2. If you have questions or concerns about Amazon’s Alexa privacy policies, you should consult the .

How To Connect Withings Devices To Apple Health

Withings has a wide variety of products from fitness wearables and blood pressure monitors. The company makes syncing Withings devices to the Apple Health app easy by using its app Withings Health Mate. To connect Withings devices to Apple Health:

  • Download the Health Mateapp by Withings from the App Store.
  • Log in or create an account.
  • Tap Profile on the bottom-right corner.
  • Does Fitbit Versa 3 Have Fall Detection

No, the Fitbit Versa 3 does not have any fall detection. This is so disconcerting if you planned on using a Fitbit Versa 3 for your parents or Seniors. It also rules the option out for gifting it to the Seniors !!!

There are third party apps that work well for detecting falls. You could look for those apps on the Google Play Store or Apples app store. These apps are designed to detect incidents of fall using the accelerometer features. However, there is not a clear winner fall detection app that has been recommended across the board for Fitbit Versa or Fitbit Sense smart watches. These apps can be installed on top of the Fitbit Versa 3 device, and should help you in getting a basic fall detection flexibility on the Versa 3 smart watch.

If you are keen on using the fall detection feature on a smart watch, your first choice has got to be an Apple watch. An Apple watch offers best fall detection and response system when it comes to handling emergency situations arising on the ground. Even an Apple watch SE should stand you in good company when it comes to fall detection and subsequent emergency response actions.

The Fitbit Versa 2 And App Pair Great With iPhone

How To Setup The Fitbit Versa 2 On iPhone And Android

Fitbit accessories have worked with the iPhone for years, and the Versa 2 continues with this tradition. The fitness brand also has an excellent iOS app that receives continuous updates and improvements. In fact, in the latest iOS release, Fitbit tweaked the user interface a bit to simplify the way important metrics like sleep and exercise were displayed in the app. They also moved challenges and workouts to a new Discover tab to make them more… well… discoverable.

I have been sporting various Fitbits since at least 2016, and I’ve been a die-hard Apple fan for even longer. So, I can certainly testify that the devices work really well together. While I was unable to find specific stats, I’d wager that a large percentage of Fitbit wearers are iPhone users as well. Even as the popularity and functionality of the Apple Watch continue to grow, Fitbits still occupy a space on the wrists of many iPhone users.

Find My: Apple Wins Fitbit Catching Up

Smartwatches aren’t cheap, and sometimes you mislay one. If it falls off your wrist while out on a run, your chances of finding it unaided are slim.

Luckily, Apple has built its Find My tech into its Apple Watch, just like it has with most of its products. Automatically enabled, this uses Wi-Fi or cellular connections in Locations Services to detect where your Apple device was last recorded. Apple Watch with GPS can use GPS and a trusted Wi-Fi connection.

If your Apple Watch is paired with your iPhone, it is set up automatically when you turn on Find My iPhone.

You can see your Apple Watch devices on a map, play a sound to find it, display a message on a lost Watch, lock it until you recover it, and even erase it if you don’t. If your Apple Watch goes missing, you can immediately lock it from iCloud.com or your paired iPhone. When you find it, you can unlock it.

It’s not possible to use such technology with most Fitbits. The company has recently partnered with location specialist Tile to integrate its device-finding software with the entry-level Fitbit Inspire 2. We hope, and expect, the other Fitbits to have Tile tech added soon.

You can also try using a Bluetooth locator app to help you find your device within about 100 feet if its battery is still live.

    Price Availability And Warranty Information

The Versa 2 costs $200, or $230 for one of the two special edition colors, with replacement bands ranging from $30 to $100.

Fitbit offers a 45-day money-back guarantee as well as a one-year limited warranty and an optional two-year protection plan against damage, sold through Square Trade for $44.99. This carries a $30 deductible per claim.

Fitbit Wont Pair How To Troubleshoot If Your Fitbit Wont Pair With Your Phone Or Tablet

There might be several reasons why your new Fitbit device wont pair properly with your smartphone or tablet.

Lets dive into some ways we can identify the issue and work out the kinks below:

  • Check that there are no other Bluetooth devices nearby when youre pairing. If you cant move them, turn Bluetooth off temporarily or shut down the device. Then run through the steps again.
  • If you are trying to connect more than one Fitbit device to the Fitbit app and its not working, you are probably using a Fitbit that doesnt allow you to connect multiple devices. Remove a device from your account or set up a new Fitbit account.
  • Check for any updates to the Fitbit app in Apples App Store or Googles Play Store. If an update is available, update the Fitbit app before you pair your Fitbit.
  • Make sure you connected your Fitbit to its charger before attempting to pair.
  • Verify that the software on your phone or tablet is up to date. To see if an update for your phone or tablet is waiting to be installed:
  • For iPhones & iPads, tap Settings > General > Software Update.
  • For Android phones and tablets, tap Settings > About Phone or About Device > Android Version.
  • Check that the Bluetooth setting on your phone or tablet is on. If so, toggle it off, wait a few seconds, and toggle BT back on.
  • For iPhones & iPads, tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  • For Android phones, tap Settings > Connections > Bluetooth.
  • Log out of the Fitbit app, then log back in.

The Fitbit Versa 2 is better than its predecessor, but still limited as ...

For me, the biggest advantage that the Apple Watch has over the Versa 2 when it comes to smart features is built-in connectivity, both GPS and cellular, which means you can leave your phone at home and take calls, send messages or stream music on the go when doing an outdoor workout, for example. With Emergency SOS you’ll also be able to call emergency services from your wrist and share your location, plus alert your emergency contacts. The Apple Watch Series 5 also offers a built-in compass.

Both offer music storage, although it’s more complicated to pull across music to the Versa 2 from a computer than it is to use the seamless transfer offered between the iPhone and Apple Watch. You can also pay with your wrist thanks to Fitbit Pay and Apple Pay on the Versa 2 and Apple Watch respectively.

I’ve been testing the Apple Watch and Versa 2 primarily with an iPhone and definitely feel the Apple Watch was the faster of the two when it comes to syncing and transferring settings. Occasionally, I have noticed integrations with third-party apps such as Spotify and Snapchat for the Bitmoji face require me to log in and sync again through the Fitbit app.

Design: The Apple Watch Has A Nicer More Premium Look And Offers Greater Customizability But The One

The Apple Watch and Fitbit Versa have a similar overall design, but there are a handful of key differences.

Apple uses an aluminum finish for its most basic watch, with a single-color fluoroelastomer band. The watch available in two sizes 38mm and 42mm to accommodate different wrist sizes unfortunately the larger-sized watch is a fair bit more expensive. While the band that comes with the Apple Watch is fine, several third parties have designed cheap, alternative bands that you can swap on and off with ease.

The Fitbit Versa is also made out aluminum, and comes with two bands one large, and one small made out of “a flexible, durable material similar to that used in many sports watches.” The reason there are two bands is that Fitbit took a slightly different design approach than Apple instead of designing the same watch in different sizes at different prices, it stuck to one. The two included bands cover enough wrist sizes that the Versa should fit well right out of the box.

    Gps: Apple Wins On Built

The original Apple Watch didnt have built-in GPS – it paired with the iPhone in your pocket and used its GPS instead. That was a problem for runners away from an indoor treadmill. Yes, you can carry your phone around with you on a run, but the Watch sells itself as a dedicated exercise device, and without GPS its not so for runners. That problem was solved with the Series 2, meaning the current Series 3, SE and 7 all have GPS built-in.

Using a hiking app ViewRanger you can pick from nearby hikes, get notifications about scenic points while en-route, make sure you dont go off the trail, and record your activity tracking, all using the Watchs GPS.

The Apple Watch Nike+ is designed specifically for runners, with a lightweight aluminium body, a special active watch face, and a perforated Sports band for better ventilation. While running, you can get a distraction-free display of the distance and your pace or an advanced mode with more details about your workout.

Running GPS eats battery life, and thats something that the Watch doesnt have oodles of. Serious runners are probably better advised to go for a dedicated runner’s watch from the likes of Garmin, but the Apple Watch is now a proper contender.

The Fitbit Versa 3, Sense and non-smartwatch Charge 5 also have GPS built-in.

Fitbit’s Multiple Sport Mode also lets you track your cycling .

Why Use The Apple Health App Instead Of 3rd

Health and fitness tracking has come a long way from the days of the little pedometer we would clip on our waistband. We have wearable fitness monitors now that track everything from steps to exercise and even sleepand now our smartphones can do the same. Health monitors include blood pressure cuffs, thermometers, and scales.

The Apple Health app is your go-to place for tracking all of itfrom exercise and sleep to blood pressure and temperature. You can even export your Health data from the app for sharing with doctors or counselors. The Apple Health app connects with most fitness wearables, and if you take your iPhone with you everywhere you go, it can act as a fitness tracker by tracking your steps, activity, and even sleep with its motion coprocessor.

With all fitness trackers to date except for Fitbit, you’ll have to download and open the app that comes with the fitness tracker to pair it with Apple’s Health app. Having information from all your wearables in one place can help you get a better overall picture of your health.
