How to Delete Other Storage on Your iPhone

If an app doesn’t let you clear the cache manually, you can still clear out the app’s temporary files. The solution is to delete the app from the iPhone and immediately reinstall it.

  • Go to Settings> General> iPhone Storage to determine which apps on the iPhone take up the most space on your device.

The iPhone Storage screen lists all the apps installed on your iPhone and how much space they use, beginning with those that use the most space.

  • In the iPhone Storage screen, tap an app.

  • Look at the Documents & Data line for the app. This shows how much space the documents and data for the app take up on your device.

  • When you locate an app you want to delete, tap Delete app.

Tapping Delete app permanently deletes all the files created by the app. The app can be redownloaded, but the files are gone.

  • iPhone iPad And Ipod Touch

  • Open the Photos app, then tap Photos at the bottom of your screen.
  • Tap Select, and choose one or more photos or videos that you want to delete.
  • Tap Delete
  • Select the photos or videos that you want to delete.
  • Tap Delete , then tap Delete.
  • To select multiple photos or videos, tap Select on iOS or iPadOS, or press and hold Command on a Mac or Control on a PC while you select the items. To select all, press and hold Command-A on macOS or Control-A on Windows, or tap Select All on iOS or iPadOS.

You can recover photos and videos that you delete from your Recently Deleted album for 30 days. If you want to remove content from Recently Deleted album faster, tap Select, then select the items you want to remove. Tap Delete > Delete. If you exceed your iCloud storage limit, your device immediately removes any photos and videos you delete and they won’t be available for recovery in your Recently Deleted album.

Stocks Game Center And Other Hard

Some apps arent so easy to delete because Apple ships the phone with them pre-installed this includes Stocks, Game Center, Notes, Calendar and various other default apps. In the past, Apple has prevented iPhone and iPad owners from deleting these apps from their devices.

The good news is that ever since the launch of iOS 10 youve been able to delete some of the preinstalled apps, such as Stocks, FaceTime and Mail. Bear in mind, however, that youre really hiding the app rather than deleting it fully. The data associated with that app will be deleted, so youll gain some space, but only a bit, because the app itself will remain.

And not all apps are included in this feature. Tips, Maps, Watch and Weather can be removed, for example Safari, Phone and Messages cannot.

What Is System Data On Ios And iPados

To make the task of tracking storage consumption on iPhone and iPad a straightforward affair, iOS presents a pretty neat storage section that breaks down the consumption for users to know how much each category has captured. The colored section of each category can determine the amount of space each one of them has occupied.

If you are wondering what the System Data section includes, you should know that it comprises everything that doesnt fall in the bracket of the predefined categories. According to Apple, the storage category consists of non-removable things such as offline translation languages, fonts, dictionaries, Siri voices, logs, cache, local keychain data, CloudKit Database, and more. Long story short, its a cluster of a variety of miscellaneous data that exists on your iOS device.

Note: Its worth noting that System Data was previously called Other Data. People using iOS 14 or earlier can still find the previous name. If you are one of them, you can check out our detailed guide on how to clear other data on iPhone.

Delete Photos And Videos You Sent Or Received From Others

If you dont have time to decide what to delete or back up to iCloud, and you just want a quick and easy way to start freeing up some space, head on back to Settings, tap on General, and click iPhone Storage. When youre there, click on Review Large Attachments, which is located below thecolor-coded bar that shows how much storage apps, photos, the system, and other settings are taking up. Here, youll see a list of photos and videos youve sent or received in messages, which you can delete by placing your thumb on one, swiping to the left, and clicking the red Delete button.
