Apple iPhone 11 Pro Features And Performance
The iPhone 11 Pros headline feature is the new camera hardware, as its rare that Apple shake things up to this extent. The camera array has proven to be very divisive for its funky looks, but fast-forward to a year later, and seeing it continued onto the iPhone 11 Pro, its shed any sensational value it once had.
Its really the A13 Bionic chip that makes the iPhone 11 Pro a performance champ when it comes to tasks which require a good amount of grunt, like editing chunky video files and downloading tracks.
Apps downloaded super fast and FaceID beats the iPhone XS for speed.
Handy features like Picture in Picture introduced in iOS 14 make the iPhone 11 Pro feel new. This feature allows you to watch a video in the corner of the screen while continuing to browse, so you can multitask like a maven.
Apple puts paid to 3D Touch and its replaced by Haptic touch, requiring the user to press for longer, rather than pressing harder.
Although the screen is very similar to the one seen on the older iPhone XS, this version is brighter, this makes a big difference when viewing the phone outdoors in sunny conditions. It also makes HDR content look phenomenal and Dolby Atmos sound joins the party, simulating surround sound for a full cinematic experience.
Water And Dust Resistance
The iPhone 11 Pro, like the prior-generation iPhone XS, has an IP68 water resistance rating, but it is more water resistant. It is rated to survive a depth of four meters for up to 30 minutes, which is an improvement over the two meter rating in the XS and the two meter rating in the current iPhone 11.
In the IP68 number, the 6 refers to dust resistance , while the 8 pertains to water resistance. IP6x is the highest dust resistance rating that exists.
With an IP68 water resistance rating, the iPhone 11 Pro can withstand splashes, rain, and brief accidental water exposure, but intentional water exposure should be avoided if possible. Apple warns that water and dust resistance are not permanent conditions and deteriorate as a result of normal wear.
Apple’s warranty does not cover liquid damage to iOS devices so it’s best to use caution when exposing the iPhone 11 Pro to liquids.

iPhone 11 Pro Review: Verdict
The iPhone 11 Pro continues to be one of the last great small phones in existence. And that’s no small feat when you consider all of the great stuff Apple packed into this phone. You get arguably the best cameras in a phone along with class-leading performance and an OLED display that outshines most Android phones.
My only reservations with the iPhone 11 Pro are its measly 64GB of included storage and that its battery life, while good, trails both the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro Max.
If it were my dough, I would spend the extra $100 on the iPhone 11 Pro Max for its bigger screen and extra endurance. But the regular iPhone 11 is still very much worth the investment for those who desire killer cameras in a more compact package.

How To Switch Between The iPhone Camera Lenses
So, how do you switch from one iPhone camera lens to another while shooting?
Its very easy!
In the iPhone 11 Camera app, use the Zoom icons to switch between lenses.
Tap the 0.5x icon to switch to the Ultra Wide iPhone lens.
Tap the 1x icon to switch to the Wide lens.
And tap the 2x icon to switch to the Telephoto lens .
You can use this method to switch between lenses in all photo and video shooting modes, except for Portrait mode.
In Portrait mode, you dont have the option to use the Ultra Wide lens. However, on the iPhone 11 Pro models, you can use the 1x and 2x icons to switch between the Wide and Telephoto lenses.
When you shoot in mode with the 1x Wide or 2x Telephoto lens, youll see a wider view of the scene outside the frame.
This preview gives you an idea of what you could capture if you zoom out to the next widest iPhone lens.
If you keep your finger held down on any of the Zoom icons , the Zoom wheel appears.
You can drag the wheel left or right to zoom anywhere from 0.5x to 10x. The higher the number, the more the camera zooms in.
However, you should avoid using any zoom number above 2x. When you zoom in past 2x, the image quality starts to degrade. At 10x zoom, youll notice significant image quality problems.
For the highest quality photos, stick to 0.5x, 1x, and 2x. These zoom settings use the full optical quality of each iPhone camera lens.
iPhone 11 Vs iPhone 11 Pro: Performance
All iPhone 11 models use Apples A13 Bionic processor, at the same speed, with the same 4GB of RAM. This was the fastest phone processor on the planet when the iPhone 11 models were released. And while it was surpassed by Apples own A14 processor in iPhone 12, it remains an extremely strong chip, capable of handling effectively anything you can throw at it.
In terms of pure power, its near laptop-strength, and can deal with 4K video editing, processing large files, opening and editing complex images with real-time changes, plus, yknow, messaging and stuff.
The only limitation youre likely to come across is the RAM, and even then the only problem weve ever seen is that in image editing apps, the maximum number of layers you can have depends on the canvas size the multiplication of the two can fill the RAM. But you have to be 1) doing much more than just mid-tier photo edits, and 2) slightly bonkers to want to get that involved on a phone screen.

Slow Motion On The iPhone Is Good But Be Smart About It
It is bonkers that you can capture slow-motion footage with an iPhone 11 or 11 Pro up to 40fps at full HD — 1080p. That said, if you’re using a high frame rate like this, your video needs a lot of light.
Slow motion + ultra wide + jumping dino pose = amazingness.
â Patrick Holland
Beware of artificial lighting because it will give your slow-motion video a strobelike flicker. This makes recording slow motion tricky indoors.
If you’re playing back a slow-motion video you shot on your phone it will look pretty good. But once you start looking at it on a bigger screen like a computer or TV, you’ll be able to see some of the flaws.
iPhone 11 Pro Review: Cameras
With three lenses comprising the rear camera, backed by a wealth of computational photography smarts, the iPhone 11 Pro’s new imaging stack is phenomenally ambitious, even by Cupertino’s imaging standards.
It starts with a trio of 12-megapixel sensors, each tied to a different type of lens to offer a unique perspective on your surroundings. Like with the iPhone XS and iPhone X before it, there’s a secondary telephoto shooter that offers 2x optical zoom, although Apple has widened the aperture to /2.0, up from /2.4 in last year’s flagship to let in more light. Meanwhile, the new ultrawide camera delivers a 120-degree field of view, akin to a 0.5x zoom.
But it’s not all about hardware. Apples new Night Mode finally enables the latest batch of iPhones to contend with Google and Huawei’s benchmark low-light camera performance.
That’s immediately clear from this striking shot of an outdoor bar, captured using the iPhone 11 Pros Night Mode. With an older iPhone in hand, you’d could never attain a shot this crisp and balanced in the highlights and shadows, at this time of the evening. Apple’s low-light smarts plainly best Google’s in this comparison, as the Pixel 3 has no answer for the detail present in the concrete slab, or in the patina of the wooden fence, as they were captured with the iPhone’s primary lens.
The iPhone 11 Pro’s camera is so stunning in the dark, that if you own one, your friends will assuredly designate you as the group’s official photographer.

What Is A13 Bionic
A13 Bionic is one of the most powerful chips ever put into a smartphone. It is included in the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro.
The A13 Bionic chip is used across the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro devices, and it features two main improvements over the A12 chip used in the predecessor iPhones: Apple’s focus on machine learning and low-power design for this new chip ekes even more performance out of its devices, while keeping the battery drain at a minimum.
Machine learningThe CPU, GPU, and neural engine has been made faster for machine learning tasks by including machine learning accelerators that are six times more efficient at matrix multiplication and can handle more than 1 trillion operations per second. Machine learning models can also be scheduled, which balances efficiency and performance on the device.
Low-power designThere are more than 8.5 billion transistors on the A13 Bionic chip that use a new 7nm process to place them. There are also four high-efficiency CPU cores that are powerful enough to use most of the time but don’t take a battery hit. This means Apple can eke out an additional 20% performance over the previous chip while not affecting battery performance.
Set Messages To Share Your Personalized Contact Info
New to iOS 13 is the option to create your own contact photo and name to be displayed on other peoples iPhones. You can choose whether this is enabled for just contacts or everyone, though they have the final say on whether they accept your preferred information.
This can be made independently of your Apple ID information. Tap into Settings > Messages > Share Name and Photo where you can configure these and whom this automatically gets shared with.

iPhone 11 Pro Review: Software
Apple’s iOS 13 came preloaded on the iPhone 11 Pro, and it brought some welcome improvements. I especially appreciated Sign in with Apple, which made it easier to sign in with all sorts of apps without having to futz with passwords or worry as much about my privacy.
But right out of the gate I really appreciate the new Photos app. The Days, Months and Years views help your pics come alive, and I like the way Apple mixes in videos with still photos.
While I’m not giving up Google Maps anytime soon , I’m glad that there’s a new Maps app that’s been rebuilt from the ground up with high-res 3D photos. There’s also a Look Around feature that’s similar to Google’s Street View.
It’s a small thing, but I like the redesigned Reminders app, as there are more in-your-face counters to see at a glance how many items on a to-do list you still need to complete.
Of course, since this review initially posted, Apple released iOS 14, which brought even more features to all iPhones, including the iPhone 11 Pro. And this fall, the iPhone 11 Pro will support iOS 15.
