iPhone 1: October 23 2020
The 6.1-inch iPhone 12 has exactly the same features, camera specs, and processing capabilities as the 12 mini, except that it’s estimated to have a 17-hour video playback compared to the iPhone 12 mini’s 15 hours. This mid-range model also includes the dual-lens camera, which is good enough for everyday users. However, Apple did include some impressive upgrades to their higher-end iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max phones for those who choose their iPhones for their camera capabilities,
The Evolution Of The iPhone Camera
Did the first iPhone have a camera? It sure did, though not an especially powerful or clear one. Still, it was better than a disposable camera! The first iPhone also gave users access to just 16 GB of storage at most, and 4 GB on the low end. Can you imagine?
The cameras built into iPhones have always been a major draw for the devices, and Apple has shown a company initiative to continue improving upon iPhone cameras with each release. These days, you can enjoy incredible detail and professional-level finishing just with the stock camera and photo editing options included with your iPhone!

Now were getting somewhere. The iPhone 4 was the first iPhone to have a front-facing camera. Little did Apple know, selfies would take over the world. The iPhone 4 also got a Retina display. With 512 MB memory, it was equipped to handle a lot more than even the iPhone 3GS, which only had 256 MB of memory. You can see the technology was beginning to look a little more familiar, but 32 GB was still the maximum amount of storage the iPhone could hold.

iPhone 5s And 5c Countries And Carriers
When the iPhone 5 was released, sales figures disappointed, despite selling five million phones in the first weekend. Perhaps this slight disappointment in terms of the number of sales was was why Apple decided to come out with two phones at the same time. And if it was, then Apple made the right move, for they sold just over nine million iPhones on the day these phones were released.
Continuing the trend Apple set with its previous iPhones, the iPhones 5S and 5C were first released in the United States, Australia, Canada, and Europe, on September 20, 2013, and by the end of that year, the device was available in countries where the iPhone 5 was sold. However, since this version, as well as the iPhone 5, were LTE devices, the device was not available until the network had been updated.

The iPhone Made Apple The Worlds Most Valuable Company
In the years before the iPhones launch, Apple was still struggling. The iPod was a big growth driver, but it was nothing like what the iPhone would do starting in around 2008. These days, Apple is worth more than twice as much as Exxon Mobil and three times as much as General Electric, traditional blue chip stocks.

How iPhone Got Invented
By Mohit Parikh
The year was 2005. iPods were the coolest entertainment devices around. Their sales numbers were hitting the roof, setting new revenue records. Apple was unanimously winning laurels and awards for its technological excellence and innovation. The sailing was more than smooth for the company and the future looked shiny. And yet, one man the man who mattered most for Apple wasnt all that happy.
Steve Jobs, the visionary founder of Apple, had sensed an inevitable immediate threat. Cellphones. The mobile technology was evolving rapidly, there was a vast unexplored market and a number of consumer electronic giants were researching in that space. Jobs knew it was only time before someone developed a software and made the phones double as entertainment devices. And if phones could have music and not only music but games, internet access and camera of what use would ipods be?
Thus, embarked him, with a set of Apples best engineers, designers, analysts and thinkers to come up with a product that could change the very idea of phone, even if it would mean potentially killing their own baby, the universally loved ipods.
Jobs was so impressed by these two elements he exclaimed, My god, we can build a phone out of this.

iPhone 3g Features And Functionality
Although the iPhone 3G ushered in a new era in the history of the iPhone, it was actually not a tremendous upgrade from the original version of the device. It addressed many of the issues mentioned above, but many other things stayed the same.
The most important change was that the iPhone 3G, as the name suggests, was equipped with 3G capability, which meant users could browse the web and download content much faster than they could with the original iPhone.
Another major change with the iPhone 3G was the introduction of the App Store, iOS 2, and developer software that made it possible for third-parties to create their own apps. Technically, this announcement came earlier in the year, but with the release of the iPhone 3G, there was now a device on which developers could place their apps. In this sense, the iPhone 3G turned the device into more than just a phone. It became a platform, a move that has helped turn Apple and the iPhone into the institutions they are today.
In terms of screen size, the iPhone 3G stayed the same as the original iPhone. However, Apple changed from using an aluminum backing to one made of polycarbonate, a move that made the iPhone 3G slightly lighter. It also allowed Apple to offer the iPhone in different colors, black or white.

The Incredible Shrinking Operating System
When the two systems squared off early on, the mobile-computing approach didnt fare so well.
Uh, just the load time was laughable, Andy Grignon says. Grignons Linux option was fast and simple. Its just kind of prrrrrt and its up. When the Mac team first got their system compiling, it was like six rows of hashtags, dink-dink-dink-dink-dink, and then it just sat there and it would shit the bed for a little bit, and then it would finally come back up and youd be like, Are you even kidding me? And this is supposed to be for a device that just turns on? Like, for real?
At that point it was up to us to prove that a variant of OS X could work on the device, Williamson says. The mafia got to work, and the competition heightened. We wanted our vision for this phone that Apple was going to release to become a reality, Nitin Ganatra says. We didnt want to let the iPod team have an iPod-ish version of the phone come out before.
One of the first orders of business was to demonstrate that the scrolling that had wowed Jobs would work with the stripped-down operating system. Williamson linked up with Ording and hashed it out. It worked and looked amazingly real. When you touched the screen, it would track your finger perfectly, you would pull down, it would pull down.
iPhone 5s & 5c Release Timeline
The iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c sold a combined nine million units in the first week on the market. For frugal buyers, the iPhone 5c had a plastic cover that made it less expensive. The greatest selling point for this model was the four different colors. As for the iPhone 5s, it rolled out features like dual flash, Touch ID, and slow-motion video, alongside an M7 motion coprocessor, which boosted the phones battery life significantly.

iPhone 6 Release Date: September 19 2014
At this point in iPhone history, the yearly release for the new device had become more than tradition. Although some of the initial shock and awe had worn off, people still lined up for the new device, and first weekend sales continued to be through the roof. However, at this point in the history of the iPhone, we can raise an important question: what else can they do?
However, this type of thinking is typical of those who arent working on the inside. We look at these devices and consider them magic, whereas the engineers developing them see them as works in progress. Then, when the new phone comes out, were once again wowed at their ability to make a product many already considered great even better.
One thing Apple did with this iPhone that had nothing to do with the device itself was release two versions at the same time. The only other time this had been done in iPhone history was with the release of the iPhone 5C and 5S, but these were interim models. The release of the iPhone 6 was the first time it was done with a completely new model.

While for some the release of the iPhone 5 came a year late, theres no doubt that it was an exciting moment in iPhone history, mainly because it was the first iPhone to make use of the ultra-fast LTE networks being offered by AT& T and Verizon at the time. However, this was far from the only upgrade made with the iPhone 5.

When the iPhone shipped to customers on June 29, 2007, the first generation of the device that would change the world was missing a lot of what we now expect in an iPhone, but it set up the road map for Apple that continues to this day.
The first generation iPhone was, in many days, quite different than the ones we see in use today. For one thing, it was small, just 4.5 inches by 2.4 inches. By comparison, the iPhone XS Max launched in 2018 is 6.2 inches by 3.05 inches.
It also had no third-party apps whatsoever, and it topped out at 16GB of flash memory. The first iPhone was exclusive to AT& T, and ran only on AT& T’s notoriously slow and unreliable EDGE GSM network.
But despite all of its shortcomings, relative to today, that first iPhone was hugely important. It was Apple’s entry into a new category, at a time when the company’s singular handheld device was the iPod.
The iPhone was the debut of the touchscreen, which would soon become standard in the category. Sure, there had been smartphones available from established manufacturers before, but they had physical keyboards and a much smaller screen.
Years Ago Today iPhone Changed The World Relive The Magical Launch Through This Collection Of Photos Videos And More

Its hard to believe, but its been 14 years since Apple shipped the first iPhones. On this day in 2007, Apple Stores across the United States hosted the iPhone World Premiere, and life was never the same. Looking back on that day, its clear that it marked a turning point. It was the beginning of a revolution in basically every single industry.
It fundamentally changed the way almost every task is accomplished. It spawned entirely new industries and ideas. We take our iPhones for granted today, but life before the iPhone was very different. Lets take a look back at the day the world changed in the blink of an eye.
At 2 p.m. on June 29, 2007 Apple Stores closed to prepare for the premiere. Just a few hours later at 6 p.m. Apple Stores opened their doors to long lines of anxious Apple fans who had been waiting six months to get their hands on the borderline mythical device. It was a very special day and people knew it. Whether you waited in line in a mall or in the queue at a big city store like Apple Fifth Avenue in New York, the energy was the same.
Longtime Apple retail enthusiast Gary Allen, who sadly passed away in 2015, left behind one of the most incredible resources for Apple fans. His Flickr page is chock full of incredible albums from store openings, product launches, and more. One of Garys best albums is from the iPhone World Premiere at the Apple Store in Palo Alto.

iPhone 5s And 5c Release Date: September 20 2013
The release of the iPhone 5S and 5C marks an interesting moment in iPhone history, largely because it was the first time Apple released two iPhones at one time. Part of the reason for this was because Apple was now up against more competition than ever. Other phone companies, such as Samsung, had begun releasing phones that could do similar things as the iPhone, and to keep up, Apple needed to offer people more options. The differences between the iPhone 5S and 5C demonstrate this new perspective.
