Want to know how to charge your iPhone faster? Need a fast power adapter for your iPhone 13? Pick up one of our favorite fast iPhone chargers to top your battery off in a flash.

Whether you just ordered a shiny new iPhone 13 or are still hopping along with an older model, youre probably all too familiar with the dinky 5W iPhone adapter that takes hours to fully charge your battery. The good news is, with the right fast charger, you can fully power up in less than half the usual time. Here’s what you need to know.

Turn Down Your Screen Brightness To Save The Battery

One of the easiest ways to charge your iPhone faster is to turn down your screen brightness. To do this, open the Settings app on your iPhone and tap Display & Brightness. Then drag the slider that is under Brightness to the left.

You can also access the brightness slider from the Control Center on your iPhone. To do this, swipe down from the top-right corner of an iPhone X and later or swipe up from the bottom of an iPhone 8 or earlier. Then tap and drag the brightness slider with the sun icon down.

How To Fast Charge Your iPhone

To fast charge any of the iPhones mentioned above, you need a USB-C power adapter with Power Delivery support. Finding such chargers was an issue when the iPhone 8 and iPhone X first launched, but as USB-C adoption has increased it has become easy to find such chargers.

Do note that you can use an 18W power adapter to fast charge all the iPhones launched up to and including the iPhone 11. For the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 series, you need to use a 20W USB-C adapter, with the latter even supporting slightly higher charging speeds with 30W adapters.

The good news is that you can use the USB-C charger to fast charge your other devices, including MacBook, Nintendo Switch, GoPro, and other devices. Similarly, you can use the USB-C power adapter bundled with your MacBook to fast charge your iPhone. Check out some GaN USB-C chargers that you can use to fast charge your iPhone.

Apart from a USB-C power adapter, you also need a USB-C to Lightning cable to fast charge your iPhone. Apple bundles this cable with the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13, but older iPhones shipped with a USB-A to Lightning cable, which you cannot use to fast charge your iPhone.

So, apart from a USB-C adapter, you’ll also need to buy a USB-C to Lightning cable for fast charging your iPhone. If you don’t want to buy a new power adapter or Lightning cable, you can follow these tips to charge your iPhone faster.

Your iPhone will warm up a bit when it is being fast charged, but this is not a matter for concern.

iPhone 13 Pro Max Capable Of Faster Charging At Up To 27w Speeds

Despite not being advertised by Apple, the iPhone 13 Pro Max is capable of faster charging at up to 27W speeds when connected to a 30W or higher USB-C power adapter, according to testing conducted by ChargerLAB. For comparison, the iPhone 12 Pro Max is capable of charging at up to around 21W to 22W speeds with an equivalent power adapter.

It’s worth noting that the iPhone 13 Pro Max does not sustain peak 27W power for the entire charging cycle due to heat considerations, but the device should still charge slightly faster than the iPhone 12 Pro Max overall.

Apple no longer includes a charger in the box with new iPhones, but it does sell a 30W USB-C power adapter for $49 for users who want to charge their iPhone 13 Pro Max as quickly as possible in light of this discovery.

Update: ChargerLAB has informed MacRumors that the smaller iPhone 13 Pro achieved max charging speeds of 23W in its testing.

How To Fast Charge iPhone 11

Apple has finally gotten around to bundling an 18W USB-C fast charger with the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max. However, the cheaper iPhone 11 continues to come with a paltry 5W charger. It does come with fast charging support and with the right accessories, you can fast-charge your iPhone 11 as well.

Comparing The Different Types Of Apple Chargers

The following picture illustrates a charging test with 3 different chargers:

With a fast charger, the total time taken to charge goes down to less than 2 hours. Thats a notable improvement, but most importantly, it dramatically reduces the charging time from 0% to 80%, which is what most people are going to appreciate. Your iPhone 11 will charge to 50% in just 30 minutes and to 80% in around an hour. After that though, the phone will take another hour to charge to 100%.

The explanation for these results is simple. The 5W wall charger operates at 5V/1A, the 18W charger does so at 9V/2A, while the 61W adapter charges at 9V/2.47A, and its power is 22.31W.

As can be seen, there was barely any difference between the 61W and the 18W charger, but a very significant difference between the charging times when the 5W is involved. The charging speed from 080% is almost 3 times faster on the higher wattage chargers compared to 5W, and from 0100% is twice as fast.

Should You Buy A Gan Charger

iPhone 11: Wireless Charging Test. Fast or Slow ?

The majority of chargers on the market use silicon semiconductors. Gallium nitride is a relatively new alternative to silicon that offers a lot of benefits: GaN chargers are smaller, more efficient, and require fewer components than silicon chargers. Theyre also more expensive. Ultimately, traditional silicon chargers are fine for most people. If youre looking for the absolute slimmest option on the market, however, it’s probably going to be a GaN charger.

With all that in mind, weve selected our favorite fast iPhone chargers you can buy right now. Pick the one that best fits your budget and needs and you won’t be disappointed.

iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max have been officially released for a while. As we all know, the Pro model comes with an 18W PD charger and a USB-C to Lightning fast charging cable. For the basic iPhone model 11, although he also supports the USB PD fast charging, but it still comes with the ancestral 5V1A charging kit.

It is very easy for Apple to standardize the phone with the 18W PD charger. Is it really unnecessary to give the iPhone 11 a quick charger? What is the benefit will the iPhone 11 user buy a PD charger at her own expense? Today, Inviolabs will answer if this is necessary.

At the beginning, it is sure that the iPhone 11 supports the USB PD fast charging function, and the maximum power is as high as 22W+ for the two Pro models. Since it supports PD fast charge, let’s do the PD fast charger and a 5W charger comparison now.

In this testing, there are three groups, which are: the iPhone 11 comes with the 5W charger, the iPhone 11 Pro comes with the 18W PD charger, and the Apple 30W PD charger.

First is the charging process of the 5W charger. From record, it is charging at 5.05V/0.97A, 4.9W.

The charging process of the iPhone 11 is very stable. It is connected to the charger for a handshake of 5W, which lasts for 2 hours and 44 minutes, and then enters the constant voltage phase, and the power continues to decrease. It dropped to below 0.1W until 3 hours and 45 minutes, till it fully charged.

Vibrations Could Mess Up Wireless Charging

Finally, its important to note that if your iPhone 11 vibrates when its on a wireless charging pad, it may disrupt wireless charging. Why? Because as weve said wireless charging isnt truly wireless. It replies on physical contact with a charging pad.

Some people have their iPhone set to vibrate when they get certain notifications, like texts or emails. These vibrations can shift an iPhone 11 on a wireless charging pad, misaligning the coils in each meaning the iPhone wont charge.

What You Need To Know

  • Apple isn’t shipping chargers with the new iPhones because everyone already has one.
  • But fast charging iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro requires a 20W USB-C charger.
  • That means the 18W charger isn’t officially supported, but it’s still pretty fast.

Our initial testing of charging an iPhone 12 using an 18W charger instead of a 20W charger shows that you can charge an iPhone 12 from 2% to 59% in about half an hour. As more people test this in different scenarios, this should become a little clearer. However, this is about as fast as initial tests of the 20W charger that we’ve seen. As it stands, per this article, Apple is explicitly clear that you will need a 20W power adapter to fast charge your iPhone 12, and that the 18W charger does not officially support fast charging the iPhone 12. Unofficially, it looks like you’ll be able to get pretty good/very similar charging speeds from the 18W charger. Why not pick one of our favorites chargers, perfectly suited to charging iPhone 12?

Looking to fast charge that new iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro? Great you can just use that 18W charger that came with your iPhone 11 Pro, right? The one that already fast-charged your old iPhone for a year.

Nope.

That’s something that isn’t entirely clear at first because Apple’s own support document says that 18W chargers will fast charge just fine. Until you scroll down and read the fine print. Right at the end of the fine print, to be exact.

Oh. Okay then.

Is Wireless Charging Truly Wireless

Sadly, the answer is no. Though the technology is referred to as wireless charging there still are wires involved.

Thats because in order to charge your iPhone wirelessly, you need to have a wireless charging pad, which itself needs to be plugged into power. You can then set your iPhone 11 on this charging pad where it transfers a charge via conduction from the pad to the iPhone.

However, since the pad requires a wire, that means the wireless charging pas is, essentially, not much different than a typical USB to Lightning cable. The iPhone need to be physically touching the wireless charging pad to be charged just like the iPhone needs to be physically plugged into the Lightning cable to be charged.

Doesnt sound that wireless does it?
