The Calendar app is incredibly convenient for keeping track of appointments, events, and even birthdays. Its also a great tool for helping you remember those appointments, events, and birthdays. I am extremely forgetful, so once I enter something into my Calendar I usually add an alert to help me remember it. Different people may need to set different reminder intervals for events. Thats why Apple made it easy to change the setting for when the Calendar will alert you for an event.
Here’s how:
- Open Settings and select Calendar.
- Tap Default Alert Times. Here you can choose the default alert times youd like for Birthdays, Events, and All-Day Events.
- For Events you can choose to be reminded up to one week before or as soon as the time of the event.
For Birthdays and All-Day Events, you can choose to be reminded on the day of the event , one day before, two days before, or one week before.
Now you can set default alert times to what works best for you!

Set Default Calendar On iPhone
So you missed that calendar event? Cant find the event you saved? Odds are youre like me you have an exchange calendar or gmail that is your main account and a few other misc accounts you use for who knows why, but your main accounts calendar isnt set as the default. Well lets fix that.
Look At The Web Interface
If events still arent syncing as youd expect, use the web interface of your calendar to test which device might be misconfigured.
- If youre using iCloud, log in to icloud.com and open the Calendar.
- If youre using Google, log in to calendar.google.com
- If youre using Exchange, log in to Exchange Web App or Office 365
Once youve logged in, create a new event on your calendar and then see if it appears across all of your devices.
If the event appears on all devices, then that means your accounts are set up properly but your default calendar is probably not correct.
If the event appears on some devices but not others, then the devices where the event is not appearing are not syncing correctly. Make sure your calendar account is set up correctly and then try again.

Change Which Calendars Are Displayed
If you’ve set up more than one account in Outlook, you can choose which account calendars to display.
In the Calendar view, under My Calendars, click to select the check boxes for the calendars you want to see. If you cant see the list of calendars, click the arrow next to My Calendars to expand the list.
Tip: You can change how multiple calendars are displayed in the Calendar view.
