Released: The iPhone 13 comes in four varieties, just like the iPhone 12 did last year: iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max. They all include a new more powerful A15 processor, brighter displays, and improved camera hardware and software. The iPhone 14 Pro models go a step further with all-new camera sensors, including an ultra-wide camera that takes stunning up-close macro shots and a new 3x telephoto lens.
The Pro models also feature a 120Hz ProMotion display and a different version of the A15 processor with five GPU cores instead of four. Theyre a significant leap over the non-Pro models, but also a bit more expensive .
Should I Wait For iPhone 14
Pricing of the iPhone 14 lineup, on the other hand, is a bit more volatile as there are multiple leaks and rumors about it. Reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo expects that the iPhone 14 Max will be priced at under $900 . If we carry this line of thought through, it can be projected that the iPhone 14 will start at $799, the iPhone 14 Max at $899, the iPhone 14 Pro at $999, and the iPhone 14 Pro Max at $1,099.
However, Korean tech site ET News on May 23 says that Apple will install a South Korean front camera in the iPhone 14 for the first time in iPhone history. Due to quality problems from Chinese manufacturers during testing, Apple will apparently install the LG Innotek camera that was meant for the iPhone 15. As indicated by Forbes, there were already rumors that the prices for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max would increase by $100 to $1099 and $1199 respectively, so this fancy new camera would be an understandable reason for the price hike. Its unclear, though, from the ET News article if this new camera will be for all iPhone 14 models or only for the iPhone 14 Pro models.

But the iPhone 13 has extra perks that photo enthusiasts will appreciate, especially when it comes to video. There’s the aforementioned Cinematic mode, as well as the improvements that the iPhone 12 gained last year such as Night mode time lapse for videos and Dolby Vision HDR video recording. Figure out what your key features are performance, cameras, battery life and so on and then check the rumor summaries for upcoming iPhones to see if future models are better positioned to address your wants than the currently available models.
