Heres how to do it:

1) Plug in and/or stick on a receiving patch or adapter and fold/adhere it to the back of your iPhone.

2) Pop in a case to keep the adapter in place. Make sure its thin enough to allow the charge pass through.

3) Place your phone on top of the wireless charging station, making sure its touching the charging points.

Compared to a wireless charging patch or stick-ons, using a charging case like the Latitude is the simplest way to incorporate wireless charging. You won’t have messy wires nor need to adjust your phones configuration to match the adapters design.

Best Way To Charge iPhone: Wall Charger

The fastest way to charge your iPhone is to plug it into a wall charger, but the adapter you use makes a difference. If you have an iPhone 12 or newer, you will need at least a 20W power adapter to achieve the fastest charge. For iPhone 8 to iPhone 11, youll need at least 18 watts.

Do charging cables make a difference? Yes! Longer cables take longer to charge your phone, but length isn’t the only factor. Using the USB-C to Lightning cable that initially comes with your iPhone is your best bet. However, there is no Apple super-fast charger that will miraculously charge your phone at impossible speeds.

If you experience your iPhone charger cable not working, check your phone’s charging port for any visible obstructions and the cable for damage. If you need a new cable, you can buy one directly from Apple or get a third-party one. Do your research because a good cable can save you up to 300 hours of charging time in a year. Plus, if you get the wrong cable, you may see your iPhone saying charger not supported when you plug it in.

Is Wireless Charging Bad For Battery Life

How To Wirelessly Charge Your iPhone SE

We all have our own habits for charging our phones. Some of us wait until the battery has almost run out, others opt to keep their phone fully topped up at all times, while the rest of us sit somewhere in between.

Smartphones are generally fitted with a lithium-ion battery, which is expected to have a finite lifespan. For example, Apple devices are designed to still hold 80% of their full capacity after 500 complete charging cycles. With this in mind, whether you charge your smartphone using a wireless charger or through the traditional wired approach, you wont overcharge your handset.

Heat is a factor which can impact your battery life, and is something to pay attention to with whatever approach you take towards charging your phone. You can avoid any immediate risks by removing your phone cover, making sure its sat securely on the charging pad and taking care not to leave it in direct sunlight. Many wireless chargers have built-in fans and cooling systems, which helps to ease any potential concerns.

Cons Of Wireless Charging

It may seem like a no-brainer to go wireless. But there are some disadvantages of wireless charging.

Its slow: Wireless charging typically takes 30-80% longer to fully charge your device than a cable. Keep in mind: how you place your device on the mat can affect how long it takes to charge. And even in an ideal setup, 20% of the power running through your device will be wasted not great in terms of conserving energy.

You cant use your phone: Your device has to stay on the mat while its charging, meaning you cant pick it up and use it in the way you can when its plugged into a charging cable.

Its more expensive: Wireless chargers are a relatively new technology with a hefty price tag, especially compared to cables. Depending on the size, they can cost anywhere between $40 and $100.

Pro tip: Larger pads can charge multiple devices, potentially resulting in some cost savings.

As smart devices continue to advance, wireless charging will likely become the norm. Until then, weigh the pros and cons, and keep an eye on the latest phone accessories to help you decide if youre ready for this new technology.

Know Your Standards: Qi And Pma

Apple AirPower uses a custom version of Qi , as do most of the popular wireless charge pads. However, one of the longest-standing players in wireless charging, Powermat, uses PMA.

You can think of PMA and Qi as a bit like VHS vs BetaMax or Blu-ray vs HD DVD. Theyre competing standards that aim to do roughly the same thing using different techniques.

If youre thinking of buying a more affordable wireless charging case for your iPhone 7 that supports just a single standard, wed strongly recommend getting on board with Qi rather than PMA.

While Starbucks uses PMA chargers in some of its stores , even it is starting to adopt Qi, because of Apples use of the standard in the iPhone 8 and iPhone X.

If you want something cheaper than the Mophie Charge Force youll find affordable Qi pad options online from companies like YooTech and Antye. The Antye Qi receiver case is around half the price of the Mophie alternative.

There are even receivers that leave out the case part, just attaching a 0.5mm thick panel to the back of your phone that connects to your iPhone 7s Lightning port. Its not the slickest look, but it minimizes bulk, and most should work through a thin case.

For the ultimate wireless charging solution, look for a case that also has a battery built-in. Once again, Mophie offers a great solution with the Juice Pack Air.

How To Choose The Best Wireless Charger For You

    Helios

The most important thing to look for when shopping for the best wireless charger for your needs is whether it’s compatible with your phone. If a wireless charger is Qi certified, it should support your iPhone, Samsung phone or other Android phone. But note that the wattage support will vary from charger to charger. Most chargers support 10W charging for Android phones and 7.5W charging for iPhones.

You’ll also want to pay attention to whether a charger and charging cable are included in the box. If there is one included, look for a charger that supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0 or 3.0 technology.

If you want to be able to charge multiple devices at once, there are some 3-in-1 chargers available that can juice. your phone, AirPods and Apple Watch all at once, but you’re going to pay more for these accessories.

Qi is a wireless charging standard . In case youre wondering how to pronounce Qi its spoken like chee NOT Kwhy. Qi is a Chinese word that means life energy. The way Qi wirelessly transfers power to an iPhone is via induction. Inside a Qi charging pad is an induction coil. Inside an iPhone is another induction coil. When those two come into very close contact (by placing an iPhone on a wireless charging pad, the transfer of energy happens. In this case, the induction coil in the Qi pad transfers the energy to the induction coil in the iPhone at a rate of about 5-15 watts of power.

Qi isnt just used in iPhones. Android phones also use the standard. And soon some laptops will even support Qi charging. Right now the WPC says there are about 3,200 Qi-Certified wireless chargers able to supply wireless power to smartphones, with more being made all the time. For the last two years Apple’s pushed a handy MagSafe fast-charging feature. It allows you to connect the iPhone 13 models or the iPhone 12 to a charger with the help of magnets. The feature essentially allows snap-on magnetized accessories to clip to the back of the phone — everything from magnetic wireless charging pucks to wallets for storing cash and credit cards.

Several MagSafe-enabled wireless charging case options — not just Apple’s — are on our list of best MagSafe iPhone accessories . But this best list is all about wireless MagSafe chargers that allow for fast Qi wireless charging. To that end, there are a few things to keep in mind:

Note that I’ve personally, if anecdotally, used all of the products listed below. Again, the non-official MagSafe device offerings are fine if you’re not concerned with charging speed .

The Best Wireless Chargers You Can Buy Today

Belkin’s Boost Up Wireless Charging Stand is the best wireless charger available. It features up to 10W of power, charging iPhones up to 7.5W and Samsung up to 9W. All other Qi-enabled devices charge at 5W. Don’t worry if your phone has a case the Boost Up is compatible with cases that are up to 3mm thick.

The solid design lets you charge your phone in either portrait or landscape mode, so you can use your device while it’s charging. The device features an LED indicator light for letting you know when it’s charging, and a foreign-object-detection feature means it’ll know when a phone isn’t on it and shouldn’t charge.

Take your pick of two colors: black and white. Belkin includes a wall adapter with a 4-foot power cord and offers a three-year warranty.

If you own an iPhone 12 or iPhone 13, Apple’s MagSafe charger makes wireless charging ridiculously easy. The magnets built into the charger and the back of your phone mean the two easily snap together and start the charging process.

You can charge at up to 15W if you have a 20W charging plug at the other end. However if you own an iPhone 12 mini or iPhone 13 mini, then that’s limited to 12W. That’s still faster than basic Qi wireless charging though, and it remains just as convenient no matter which model you own.

Although they don’t have magnets in, your AirPods or AirPods Pro charging cases will also work with the MagSafe charger. If you’re a diehard Apple fan, this is probably the wireless charger for you.

Can Your Wireless Charger Keep Up

Make sure your wireless charging pad is compatible with your phone to get the fastest wireless charging possible. There are many wireless chargers in the market today delivering up to 15W output, but they may not be finely tuned for your device. For example, the 7.5W BOOSTUP Wireless Charger has been tuned to deliver 7.5W fast charging for the new iPhone X, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone 8, while 15W chargers on the market have not and will only charge the new iPhones at 5W. Similarly, the Samsung Galaxy smartphones are capable of charging up to 9W wirelessly when using a wireless charging pad specifically tuned for the Samsung Galaxy. Therefore, compatibility is important to unlock faster charging!
