iPhone 14 Lineup Rumors: Will There Still Be 4 Phones

We don’t know much about the iPhone 14 yet, but we’ve heard that Apple’s next lineup will nix the Mini and focus on larger phones instead. A predicted the death of the iPhone 14 Mini, and an from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo obtained by MacRumors also suggested that the Mini was not long for this world. However, Kuo reported, the iPhone 14 lineup will still comprise four models, a “high-end” and a “lower-end,” with two size options for each.

While name speculation isn’t as germane to the discussion of Apple’s 2022 lineup as it was for unlucky 13, rumors suggest a small shift in naming conventions, with an iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max, with “Pro” designating higher-end specs and “Max” referring to the larger screen size.

iPhone 1: September 24 2021

The iPhone 13 line’s base model maintains many of the design features introduced in the iPhone 12 series, but comes with a 20 percent smaller notch, accommodated by a new camera layout. It runs on the A15 chip, which is an upgrade over the previous generation of iPhones, and the camera features some significant improvements, including Cinematic mode and Photographic Styles. Battery life is also improved for this model, and it comes in the following colors: pink, blue, midnight, starlight, and PRODUCT. A big selling point for the iPhone 13 is the price point: it starts at the same price as the iPhone 12 did when released, but its base model offers double the storage space. The screen size remains the same at 6.1 inches.

Will We See New Airpods Macbooks Or iPads

If a paywalled report from DigiTimes is to be believed, the answer is a resounding yes! The publication reports Apple may hold several events in September. If Apple does hold multiple events, we believe the Sept. 14 event will focus on its new array of iPhones, the Apple Watch Series 7, and a long-awaited AirPods update.

A subsequent event or events will introduce the 14-and-16-inch MacBook Pro, a redesigned iPad for students, and an update to the iPad mini.

iPhone 14 Pro: Release Date Rumours

New iPhone 12: Release date, price, rumors and leaks

Like every year, Apple is expected to announce a new iPhone range in September. Apple has done so for years now, with the exception of the 2020’s iPhone 12, which was delayed until October due to the pandemic.

Apple is yet to announce a release date, but Apple’s past events do give us a clue as to when the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max will land. The firm tends to favour the second Tuesday of the month this was the case with the iPhone 13, which launched on 14th September 2021. If Apple sticks to this, and if iDropNews is to be believed, the date for your diary this year would be Tuesday 13th September.

We even have an idea of the start time. Apple usually holds its events at its Apple Park HQ in California, kicking off at 10am Pacific Time, which is 6pm GMT / 4am AEST.

The firm has already got the ball rolling on product launches for 2022. Its first event happened in March, where tech fans were treated to the long-awaited iPhone SE 3 and a new iPad Air.

We’re Attracted To ‘what’s Next’

Each new iteration of the iPhone has new features: For example, the iPhone 4 in 2011 brought the first front-facing “selfie” camera, while the iPhone 5S in 2013 introduced Touch ID fingerprint scanning. The iPhone 12 boasts a larger screen, faster 5G network connection and more advanced cameras.

But even if your current iPhone functions fine without all the new bells and whistles, “people are attracted to those improvements in quality and capability,” says Kelly Goldsmith, associate professor of marketing at Vanderbilt University in the Owen Graduate School of Management.

Each new phone, and also Apple as a brand, represent innovation and “tomorrow,” which consumers tend to hold to a high regard, says marketing consultant Katie Martell. “We really do live in a world where what’s new and what’s next is considered most valuable.”

Nm Chipset But Not For All iPhones

Apples A15 Bionic at the heart of the iPhone 13 runs on an improved 5nm process, offering improvements to efficiency and power compared to the 5nm A14 Bionic but changes arent that dramatic compared to the A14 Bionic.

Thats set to change with the iPhone 14, however, according to a TrendForce analyst forecast.

The forecast, which came out in late 2020, claims that Apples 2022 iPhone range will be powered by a 4nm processor manufactured by TSMC, likely dubbed the A16 Bionic.

Switching to a narrower structure width will allow for more noticeable improvements to performance and efficiency, which should also have a knock-on effect on battery life all welcome upgrades to the iPhone experience.

This is seemingly confirmed by a report from The Information, citing engineers familiar with the matter. The report suggests that TSMC isnt quite ready to ship even smaller 3nm chipsets with the iPhone 14, although it is still expected to begin ahead of its competitors.

Thatll allegedly be paired with a boosted 8GB of RAM on the Pro models according to Korean blog Naver citing unnamed sources, anyway. Given the fact that Apple tends to boost its RAM offering every two years, and it last got an upgrade with the iPhone 12 Pro range, there could be some truth to the claim and itll likely extend to the standard model too.

iPhone Se: The Latest Rumors

The Chinese language publication MyDrivers reports that the iPhone SE has entered trial production with a planned early 2022 release date.

Ming-Chi Kuo reiterates reports that the 2022 iPhone SE will have the same display as the current model and will likely be Apples last iPhone with a home button.

Trendforce reports Apple is on track to launch the third-generation iPhone SE in the first quarter of 2022.

Ross Young of Display Supply Chain Consultants says the next iPhone SE will be called the SE Plus with the same 4.7 LCD as the 8 along with 5G.

In a note to investors seen by MacRumors, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says Apple will position the 3rd-generation iPhone SE as the cheapest 5G iPhone ever.

iPhone 14 Price: Will Apple Lower The Cost In 2022

iPhone SE 2022 Release Date and Price 2022 BIG Change!!

There’s no word either way on iPhone 14 pricing, but Apple didn’t make any big price changes between 2020’s iPhone 12 and 2021’s iPhone 13, so the existing price structure is at least a good place to start our speculation. However, Kuo predicts the high-end 6.7-inch phone will launch at a record-low price, under $900. Compared to the iPhone 13 Pro Max, which ranges from $1,099 all the way up to a staggering $1,599, that’s quite a steal.

For reference, here’s how much each version of the iPhone 13 lineup cost at launch.

iPhone 1: Rumors And Launch Date

True to form, Apple has thus far stayed mum on when we might expect the iPhone 13 to make its debut. But the rumor mill is that The Fruit will continue the 4-model suite offering that it introduced in 2020, to include an iPhone 13 mini, 13 Pro, and 13 Pro Max in addition to the base model iPhone 13.

Based on past years, we expect to see the iPhone 13 announcement sometime in September 2021, with preorders through major carriers beginning within a few days to a week afterward. In fact, recent leaks have narrowed down the iPhone 13 release date to September 14, 2021.

For now, Apple aficionados have the iPhone 12 series to enjoy: the four new versions of the iPhone 12 improve on previous iPhone models in every conceivable way, from their attractive and durable designs to their next-level photo and video-taking capabilities. It’s fair to say that the iPhone 12 is an instant “best-in-class” device.

iPhone 14 Pro Max: Heres Everything We Know

The iPhone 14 is Apples next-gen family of handsets, and were expecting Apple to launch four new iPhone models this year as well: iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max. As these product names imply, Apple will make a few significant changes to its iPhone 14 lineup this year. All rumors say that Apple will remove the mini size and replace it with a cheaper version of the Pro Max size.

The largest iPhone in each new generation is usually very popular with buyers. Thats why Apple might be going for a more affordable iPhone 14 Max option this year. That said, the iPhone 14 Pro Max will still be the best possible new iPhone money can buy this year, and were about to explain.

How Much Does The iPhone 13 Cost

Due to the global supply chain shortage, increased manufacturing costs, and higher labor costs, there are lots of rumors about price hikes for the iPhone 13. And while Apple is undoubtedly feeling the pinch of supply chain shortages, the company reportedly has plenty of semiconductors for its iPhone 13 models.

Although it’s impossible to know just how much Apple plans to charge for its iPhone 13 lineup, we believe it will maintain pricing for the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini and may slightly bump the price of its Pro lineup. To be perfectly honest, we dont believe pricing will increase on any of the iPhone 13 models, but its a possibility.

We think the iPhone 13 mini will start at $699 and the iPhone 13 will cost $799. The iPhone 13 Pro base model will cost $999 to $1,049, and the iPhone Pro Max may have an starting cost of $1,099 to S1,149.

iPhone 12 Pro: October 23 2020

iPhone 8 Release Rumors: Everything we know about the next iPhone

The iPhone 12 Pro boasts some very fancy camera and color upgrades as compared to the 12 and the 12 mini, but comes in the same 6.1-inch screen size as the iPhone 12 and includes all of the baseline features present in the budget models. New camera features introduced in 2020 include a triple-lens arrangement like we saw with the iPhone 11 Pro models, but with LiDAR scanning, improved Night Mode, and enhanced zoom range and lens functions. Both iPhone 12 Pro models include the fastest aperture ever used in an iPhone. Apple has added RAW photos for superior pro editing capability, and has included Dolby Vision up to 60 frames per second in the Pro models.

iPhone Se: Design And Display

Currently, the most reliable analysts expect the next iPhone SE to physically resemble the current model. Thats perhaps a little disappointingthe iPhone SE is based on the body of the iPhone 8, which is now discontinued. However, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes Apple plans to move ahead with another SE model to feature the 4.7-inch LCD display, a Home button with Touch ID, and no Face ID. In October, Ross Young of Display Supply Chain Consultants reported that the next iPhone SE will have the same 4.7-inch display as the current model, adding that the rumored iPhone SE with a 6.1-inch LCD is now pushed to 2024.

In other words, the next iPhone SE is once again rumored to be based on the iPhone 8s shell, with select new components. Nikkei Asia reported in July that the next SE will look like a refreshed version of the iPhone 8 and have a 4.7-inch liquid crystal diode display.

Apple is also said to be working on an updated version of the iPhone 11, with an LCD display between 5.7 inches and 6.1 inches and Touch ID either in the display or part of the power button, but likely for a 2023 or 2024 release. Apple still sells the iPhone 11 for $499 and a new SE with a similar design would directly compete with it at a lower price.

iPhone 14 Pro Screen Will Have A Hole

On the Pro model iPhones, the notorious notch will be replaced by an oval-shaped Face ID cutout and a hole-punch camera, according to MacRumors. Together, the two elements will take up about the same space as the notch, but they’ll be surrounded by live pixels and will thus be less of a visual interruption in the face of the phone.

Journalist Max Weinbach tweeted another render of the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max. There are also several stories going around about supposed detailed schematics and reduced front bezels, but the “information” comes from random Twitter and Weibo users, which I honestly have zero trust in.

What Will The Apple iPhone 14 Price Be

Apples iPhone flagships span a variety of price points. In recent years, the standard model has cost $799, with the Pro coming in at $999, and the Pro Max starting at $,1099. At the very least, we should expect prices to be no cheaper than this with the iPhone 14 series.

However, the introduction of a Max model could cause a shift in this historic pricing model. One report suggests that the standard model may start at $799 and the Max at $899, while the Pro and Pro Max see a $100 price hike to $1,099 and $1,199 respectively.

Forget iPhone 1: Apple Insider Reveals iPhone 15 Split Release Strategy

iPhone 14 Release Date and Price Touch ID Report!

Apple will give the iPhone 14 Pro an eye-catching redesign this year, but now a new leak has revealed an even more significant design change is coming next.

Popular anonymous industry insider LeaksApplePro, claims that Apple will break with convention by carving the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro release in two. Non-Pro models will stick with Apple’s proprietary Lightning port while iPhone 15 Pro models will move to USB-C. And that’s just the start.

With pressure mounting on Apple following the EU’s decision to force all smartphone manufacturers to adopt USB-C by Fall 2024, LeaksApplePro shows the iPhone maker will jump before it is pushed.

“Lightning is coming to an end,” the leaker states, revealing that the split port release of the iPhone 15 range in 2023 will be followed by the full-range switching to USB-C for the iPhone 16 lineup in 2024 ahead of the EU deadline. Interestingly, LeaksApplePro points out that Apple may even go a step further with iPhone 16 Pro models potentially having a portless design.

In my opinion, unless your smartphone is on its last legs, I would recommend you forget the iPhone 14 range and see how this plays out in 2023. But, as always, the choice is yours.

Why Apple Is Rumored To Skip iPhone 13 For iPhone 12s

For a lot of people, it all boils down to the unsavory nature of 13 as a number. Many countries worldwide consider 13 to be unlucky as evident by things like Friday the 13th, some buildings omitting a 13th floor, and certain people being diagnosed with triskaidekaphobia . It may seem silly for Apple to change its current naming pattern solely on what some would consider being superstition. However, launching a product called iPhone 13 could have legitimate side effects for the company such as scaring some customers off from buying the product. OnePlus did something similar when it went from the OnePlus 3 to the OnePlus 5. The number 4 is considered highly unlucky in China, and with much of OnePluss audience based in the country, it skipped the OnePlus 4 altogether. With the iPhone 13, Apple may choose to do something similar considering how 13 is treated in western culture.

With that said, there’s just as much reason to believe the iPhone 13 name is still in the runnng. On July 6, that “Apple’s new iPhone this year has entered the countdown stage of stocking, and the supply chain has reported that this years new phone will be named iPhone 13.” A report from a supply chain has potentially more weight to it than an Apple leaker especially one that doesn’t have a perfect track record. While nothing is confirmed until Apple says so, that’s a big reason to believe the iPhone 13 is the iPhone Apple releases this year.
