Because the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus both have the Apple A11 Bionic processor, expect them to perform as reliably and quickly as each other. As for their batteries, Apple never releases those specs, but third-party teardowns have reported that the iPhone 8 has a 1,821-mAh battery and the 8 Plus has a 2,675-mAh battery. The phones clocked in similar times for our lab tests for continuous video playback on Airplane mode. The iPhone 8 lasted 13.5 hours while the 8 Plus lasted slightly longer at 13.75 hours. All in all, expect similar battery lives for both phones.

How Is The iPhone 8 Plus Bigger Than iPhone 11

The iPhone 8 Plus still uses TouchID and a home button and this technology do take up a fair amount of space at the bottom of the phone .

iPhone 11 Vs iPhone 8 Plus: Design

These two phones represent the evolution of the iPhone quite neatly. The iPhone 8 Plus is the old style that endured for a decade, with chunky bezels above and below the screen, which include the Home button .

The iPhone 11 is the new-style design, with the screen filling the front, save for the notch at the top that includes the Face ID facial security system.

iPhone 11 Vs iPhone 8 Plus: Camera

There are three key differences when it comes to camera in these phones: lens choice component quality and software.

Let’s start with lens choice. Though both these phones have dual cameras, the two systems are different. The iPhone 8 Plus includes a wide-angle camera and a 2x telephoto camera the iPhone 11 includes a wide-angle camera and a 0.5x ultra-wide camera.

The iPhone 8 Plus’ system is built around taking Portrait mode shots the telephoto lens gives a look much more like what someone with a dedicated camera would take, and the two lenses work in unison to map the scene in 3D, so that a convincing fake depth-of-field effect can be applied around the subject.

The iPhone 11’s system is designed around Night mode, which enables takings usable, detailed photos even when there’s nowhere near enough light compared to what cameras can normally handle. The iPhone 11 does also take Portrait mode shots, but the different lens length makes them a bit less pro-style, and there’s no 3D map for the blur effect, so it’s not quite as convincingly applied. It also only work on people and pets, while on the 8 Plus it works on anything.

The iPhone 11’s ultra-wide lens, however, offers a totally different way to take certain shots, especially around landscapes and architecture, or to get creative with perspective on closer subjects. The 8 Plus’ 2x zoom lens, of course, offers the ability to get in a little closer without losing resolution.

iPhone 12 Vs iPhone 8 Design

The iPhone 12 mini features a bigger screen than the iPhone 8 â 5.4 inches versus 4.8 inches. Yet Apple’s newer phone is both shorter and slimmer than the iPhone 8.

How did Apple pull that off? The big bezels at the top of the iPhone 8’s display are gone, as is the home button housed in that bottom bezel. Instead, the iPhone 12 mini, like the iPhone 12, has adopted the design Apple introduced with the iPhone X â a notch at the top of the display to house the TrueDepth camera, but otherwise minimal bezels surrounding the front display.

Likewise, the iPhone 12 is more compact than the iPhone 8 Plus, even with a screen that adds an additional 0.4 inches.

Those screens on the iPhone 12 are fairly durable, as Apple teamed up with Corning to create a Ceramic Shield screen. That makes the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini four times more likely to survive a drop without any damage. The IP68 water resistance rating on the iPhone 12 models allows Apple’s new phones to survive a dip in up to 6 meters of water the iPhone 8 models could only endure 1 meter.

On paper, you might think the iPhone X is larger than the iPhone 8 Plus because it has a bigger 5.8-inch screen, but that number is deceiving. The Super Retina OLED display on the iPhone X has a narrower aspect ratio than the iPhone 8 Plus’ 5.5-inch panel. And because there are virtually zero bezels around the iPhone X’s screen, it has a more compact size.

How compact? The iPhone X measures 5.7 x 2.8 x 0.3 inches, compared with a considerably taller and wider 6.2 x 3.1 x 0.3 inches of the iPhone 8 Plus. The iPhone X is also a full ounce lighter than the iPhone 8 Plus .

With the iPhone 8 Plus In my hand, I find reaching across the screen practically impossible with my thumb, though I don’t have the biggest mitts. With the iPhone X, I have no problem typing with one hand targeting icons on the other side of the screen with my thumb is a stretch but easily doable.
