How To Make Your iPhone Or Ipod Battery Last Longer
You can avoid needing battery replacement as long as possible by taking good care of your battery. Apple suggests doing the following things to give your battery the longest possible lifespan:;
- Keep your device in a cool area: iPhones and iPods function best when they’re used in an ambient temperature between 32 and 95 degrees Fahrenheit . Operating the device outside of;these temperatures can permanently damage the battery. You especially don’t want to charge your device if the ambient temperature is above 95 degrees, as this can also;damage the battery.
- Remove cases before charging: Some protective cases can cause your device to get too hot while charging. Taking off the case can help them stay cool while getting power.
- Charge the battery before long-term storage: If you’re planning not to use your iPhone or iPod for a long time, charge its battery to 50% and then turn it off. If you store it for very long periods of time, charge it to 50% every 6 months.
Those are tips to make your battery have a longer lifespan, but that’s not the same thing as getting more use out of a single charge. If you’re looking for information on that, we’ve got 30 Tips to Extend iPhone Battery Life.

Nevertheless, if your phone cant last two hours without a round of charging, and its driving you madjust replace it.
Can I Replace My iPhone Battery Myself
Up to a point, yes, and I’m not normally “handy” in a DIY sense. iFixit’s instructions were easy to follow, and there were only seven internal screws to remove, which were easy to replace.;
The iPhone 6, old battery removed and all traces of the glue cleaned off.
What I found a little confusing was that iFixit’s instructions on its web page end at the point where you remove the old battery. The only instruction in the conclusion was to follow the previous steps in reverse order. Admittedly, that wasn’t particularly difficult to do, but I would have appreciated more guidance at that point.;
One issue I ran into independently from iFixit was that, during the removal of the screen, I cracked the screen protector that was in place. I noticed the hairline cracks and was worried that I’d damaged the display itself, but thankfully that was unharmed.
With its new battery, this iPhone 6 should be running at optimal level again.

When Can I Expect My Ifixit Battery To Arrive
UPS Ground offers guaranteed 5 business day delivery timeframes. The closer you are to California, the sooner itll arrive. We see that batteries sent to the East Coast often take 4-5 business days to arrive.
The best way to see when your sweet new battery will arrive is to add it to your cart, go through the first stage of the checkout process and youll be shown the expected delivery window. If you decide you want the cheaper option through USPS First-Class Mail, please keep in mind that this method is not guaranteed to arrive by an expected date and is subject to delays in transit.
Some Steps Can Be Tricky
Screws and connectors are easy, but as I mentioned above, some steps can be a bit rocky.
First, if you have an iPhone 7 or newer, youll need to apply some heat around the edge of the phone to soften up the adhesive that glues the screen to the rest of the phone, but dont worrythe iFixit guide shows you how to do this. As for the iPhone 6s, it has a small amount of adhesive around the edge, but not enough to require heat . The iPhone 6 and older dont have any adhesive around the edge.
Starting with the iPhone 7, Apple began waterproofing its iPhones by upgrading the adhesive seal around the edge. Once you break that seal, youll still be able to reassemble the iPhone without a problem, but the seal around the edge will no longer be watertight. Thankfully, you can buy new adhesive from iFixit and replace the seal if you want to keep the waterproofing, but its not required by any means, and theres no guarantee like youd get from official Apple service.
As for the adhesive holding the battery down, there are tabs at the bottom that you slowly pull on to remove the adhesive strips, just like you would when removing a 3M Command Strip. The only problem is that theyre extremely thin and prone to breaking off, especially when they get snagged on a nearby piece of metal.

How To Replace The iPhone 6’s Battery
The iPhone 6 is a great smartphone, although I’m sure I’m not alone in my desire for a longer-lasting battery. Thankfully, there are a number of battery cases out there , that can boost battery life. Sadly, like any smartphone, over time your iPhone 6 will lose battery capacity that further compounds the battery life issue.
There’s nothing you can do to stop this and it happens with all smartphones – not just iPhones. Many, though, do have user-replaceable batteries and these are a brilliant idea. Not only do they allow you to replace old, worn-out batteries, but you can take several with you on long trips too.
Unfortunately, this isn’t possible with the iPhone 6 so Apple users are somewhat stuck with the issue. Apple states that:
A properly maintained iPhone battery is designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity at 500 full charge and discharge cycles.
This means that after 500 charge cycles – probably something achievable in 14-18 months for heavy users that charge their iPhone 6 every day – your iPhone 6 will have lost up to 20% of its battery capacity meaning it will only last 80% as long between charges. The longer you continue to use the battery, the more it will degrade.
The battery and tools are the only items you’ll likely need to buy.
Step 2. Locate the two small 5-point screws either side of the Lightning port
iPhone & Ipod Battery Replacement Prices
For the iPhone, Apple will service the battery on models as old as the iPhone 3GS up to the most recent. The company charges US$49-$69 for iPhone battery service, depending on the model.
For the iPod, prices range from $39 for an iPod Shuffle to $79 for an iPod touch to $149 for an iPod Classic. For iPods, Apple only services the battery on more recent models. If you’ve got an iPod that’s a couple of generations old, you may have to find other repair options. Check with Apple to see if your model is covered.

Is The Apple Battery Replacement Worth It
A; The Apple Battery Replacement is absolutely worth it. Batteries generally have a shelf life, and within a couple of years, batteries lose their capability considerably. Many users feel that the phone is worthless, and they invest in a new phone. A battery replacement is cheap and effective and will help you use the phone for longer.
Its Mostly Screws And Connectors
Dont get me wrong: the circuitry and assembly inside an iPhone is no joke, and some repairs can be really difficult. But when it comes to replacing the battery, youll mostly be dealing with screws and connectors, with a little bit of adhesive. Nothing that youll be dealing with is soldered down or permanently connected to anything, so you can put the soldering iron and other heavy-duty tools back in the drawer.
As for the adhesive, the battery is secured using 3M Command Strip-esque adhesive, which can cause headaches if they break as youre removing them . There is also some adhesive around the edge holding down the display assembly on newer iPhones, but a little applied heat to loosen it up makes the job a bit easier.
Other than that, you just have screws holding down the battery connector cover, as well as the display assembly cover. Once those things are removed, you simply pop off the connectors to the display assembly and the battery.

Why Does My iPhone Suck When The Battery Is Old
Batteries, even rechargeable ones, are consumable. As soon as you use your iPhone, its battery begins to degrade, decreasing both its capacity and your phones performance. In fact, according to Apple, once your iPhone goes through roughly 500 charging cycles, your battery wont be able to be charged more than 80%. This can result in some annoying things like your phone randomly shutting off even though the battery appears to be full and, of course, dying quicker than youre used to.;
In what has become the great iPhone battery controversy of 2017, Apple tried to solve the problem by secretly slowing down users older iPhones when their batteries became too degraded. iPhone fans, as you can imagine, were not impressed.;
Enter Apples Battery Health tool. Introduced in iOS 11.3 in response to Batterygate, this easy-to-use feature lets you check your batterys maximum capacity and performance capability, as well as allow you to turn off the performance management function that got Apple into trouble in the first place.;

Best Practices To Live By
Before we get into the short-term ways to boost your battery life, it’s important to know what you can do to help your battery withstand the test of time. We’ve debunked a few of the myths around phone batteries, but here’s what the Responsible Battery Coalition has to say:
Avoid temperature extremes, both high and low, when using or storing lithium-ion batteries.
Minimize the amount of time a battery spends at either 100% or 0% charge, as both extremely high and low states of charge stress batteries.
Avoid fast-chargers, that, while convenient, also degrade lithium-ion batteries more quickly than standard charging.
There are settings that can be changed and features you can toggle off to save energy.;Here is what you can do right now to boost your iPhone’s battery life, and hopefully make it through the day without having to plug in.
