Up to a point, yes, and I’m not normally “handy” in a DIY sense. iFixit’s instructions were easy to follow, and there were only seven internal screws to remove, which were easy to replace.;

Some Steps Can Be Tricky
Screws and connectors are easy, but as I mentioned above, some steps can be a bit rocky.
First, if you have an iPhone 7 or newer, youll need to apply some heat around the edge of the phone to soften up the adhesive that glues the screen to the rest of the phone, but dont worrythe iFixit guide shows you how to do this. As for the iPhone 6s, it has a small amount of adhesive around the edge, but not enough to require heat . The iPhone 6 and older dont have any adhesive around the edge.
Starting with the iPhone 7, Apple began waterproofing its iPhones by upgrading the adhesive seal around the edge. Once you break that seal, youll still be able to reassemble the iPhone without a problem, but the seal around the edge will no longer be watertight. Thankfully, you can buy new adhesive from iFixit and replace the seal if you want to keep the waterproofing, but its not required by any means, and theres no guarantee like youd get from official Apple service.
As for the adhesive holding the battery down, there are tabs at the bottom that you slowly pull on to remove the adhesive strips, just like you would when removing a 3M Command Strip. The only problem is that theyre extremely thin and prone to breaking off, especially when they get snagged on a nearby piece of metal.

How To Replace The iPhone 6’s Battery
The iPhone 6 is a great smartphone, although I’m sure I’m not alone in my desire for a longer-lasting battery. Thankfully, there are a number of battery cases out there , that can boost battery life. Sadly, like any smartphone, over time your iPhone 6 will lose battery capacity that further compounds the battery life issue.

There’s nothing you can do to stop this and it happens with all smartphones – not just iPhones. Many, though, do have user-replaceable batteries and these are a brilliant idea. Not only do they allow you to replace old, worn-out batteries, but you can take several with you on long trips too.
Unfortunately, this isn’t possible with the iPhone 6 so Apple users are somewhat stuck with the issue. Apple states that:

This means that after 500 charge cycles – probably something achievable in 14-18 months for heavy users that charge their iPhone 6 every day – your iPhone 6 will have lost up to 20% of its battery capacity meaning it will only last 80% as long between charges. The longer you continue to use the battery, the more it will degrade.

Other than that, you just have screws holding down the battery connector cover, as well as the display assembly cover. Once those things are removed, you simply pop off the connectors to the display assembly and the battery.
