Quickly Disable Face Id
Depending on where you live, the police may be able to legally insist you unlock your smartphone on the spot via its facial recognition features. For some reason, facial biometrics arent protected in the way fingerprints and passcodes are in some localities.
Thats why Apple has built-in a feature that lets you quickly disable Face ID in a pinch without going into your settings. Just press the side button five times and Face ID will be disabled and youll need to enter your passcode instead to gain access to your phone.
Can I Use Eftpos With Apple Pay Or Only Visa
When you add your NAB Visa debit card to Apple Pay, the card will default to the Visa network for payments with Apple Pay. You may also see the option to change the payment network to eftpos.
If you change payment networks, that network will be the default for future purchases until you change it again.

How To Pay With Apple Pay With iPhone X
With the removal of the home button, and therefore Touch ID on the iPhone X, Face ID is used to authenticate Apple Pay purchases. Here’s what you need to do:
If you’re using Apple Pay online or in an app on your iPhone X the device already knows it’s you, but you still need to double-press the side button to confirm that you want a transaction to take place. For example, if you are purchasing an app in the App Store you need to press the side button twice in order to confirm you wish to buy it.
You have 30 seconds to complete the transaction – if you don’t hit this deadline, you’ll have to double-press and authenticate again.
How To Use Apple Pay On An iPad
You can also use Apple Pay in Safari and in apps on an iPad, just like on a Mac. To add a card on an iPad, do this:
- Open Settings.
- Tap “Wallet & Apple Pay.”
- Tap “Add Card.”
- Position your iPhone’s camera to focus on card number
- Your iPhone will pull in the card number written on your card.
- Confirm the details are right and tap “Next.”
- Enter in your card’s 3-digit or 4-digit CVV number
- Tap “Next.”
- Agree to your bank or credit card’s terms of service.
- Repeat these steps to add additional cards.

Apple just built a powerful new security feature into the iPhone 11 & 11 Pro with the latest version of iOS. This introduced what is known as USB Restricted Mode to the iPhone 11 & 11 Pro. To protect against this, Apple has introduced USB Restricted Mode. How To Set Apple Pay Up On An iPhone Or iPad
You need to use the Apple Wallet app to setup Apple Pay on your iPhone or iPad. The Apple Wallet will then store your credit cards and debit cards, pulling the data when you authenticate Apple Pay to pay for goods.
On your iPhone, open Wallet. On your iPad, go to Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay. Tap Add Credit or Debit Card or the “+” in the top right corner and hit “Continue”. You can use your device’s camera to capture the information on your credit, debit, or store card. Then fill in any additional information needed.
Your bank will verify your information. You may need to provide additional verification which can mean you have to phone your bank, or you may receive a text message with a unique code that you’ll need to enter. The process changes depending on the bank.
After your card is verified, tap Next, and then you can start using Apple Pay.

All retailers who accept contactless payments will accept Apple Pay whether theyre in the UK or overseas. Different transaction limits will apply depending on which country youre in.
If you use Apple Pay to pay with a card overseas, standard overseas charges will apply according to your card terms and conditions. Based on your mobile plan and mobile network’s offering, additional message data charges and foreign transaction fees may also apply.

Apple iPhone apps also work with Apple Pay, meaning you will be able to select Apple Pay at checkout when ordering anything from an app. You also still need to place your finger on Touch ID, or use Face ID, when paying.
You can also use Apple Pay via the Safari browser. You can either use Touch ID if you have a MacBook Pro with Touch Bar or pay via your iOS device. To use Apple Pay on a Mac that doesn’t have Touch ID and confirm the payment through your iPhone, head to Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay > Toggle on Allow Payments on Mac at the bottom of the display.

Every purchase using Apple Pay is authenticated using Touch ID or Face ID. A unique card number is generated specifically for your device, so your physical cards number is never stored on your device, on Apple servers, or shared with merchants.

After setting up Apple Pay on your iPhone X, XS, or XR, youll likely want to give it a shot at a physical location. The first thing youd want to do is check if Apple Pay is accepted at the store youre at. Once confirmed, follow these steps to quickly access Apple Pay on iPhone X, XS, or XR.
Contactless Payments In Stores
To use Apple Pay for a contactless payment, wait for the point of sales terminal to be ready. Usually, it displays the amount due when it’s ready.
To change your default card, move your device near the reader. The Wallet app payment screen appears automatically when it senses the reader, except for Apple Watch, in which case, you need to double tap the side button. If required, keep your finger lightly on the home button for Touch ID, look at the camera for Face ID, or enter your passcode. Is Apple Pay Secure
Yes. Apple said it doesn’t save your transaction information or card numbers on its servers, though your most recent purchases are kept in the Wallet app.
Apple Pay, which has a tokenised backend infrastructure, makes card payments secure by creating a number or token that replaces your card details. More specifically, it creates a Device Account Number for each one of your cards.
According to Apple, the Device Account Number is assigned, encrypted, and securely stored in the Secure Element, a dedicated chip in iPhone and Apple Watch, and when a payment is initiated, the token is passed to the retailer or merchant. The retailer or merchant therefore never has direct access to your card details.
How Do I Make A Payment With Apple Pay
Hold your iPhone 6/6+ and later models including the iPhone SE near the contactless reader with your finger on Touch ID. On Apple Watch, just double-click the side button and hold the display of your Apple Watch up to the contactless reader.
To pay within apps, using your iPhone 6/6+ and later models including the iPhone SE, your iPad with Touch ID or your Apple Watch just select Apple Pay as the payment method and double click the side button for Apple Watch or place your finger on Touch ID for iPhone/iPad.
On mobile Safari browser purchases using Touch ID, youll need a device running the latest iOS. Simply select Apple Pay as your payment method during checkout. .
For desktop Safari browser on your Apple Mac, select Apple Pay as the payment method your default card will be presented and verify via your iPhone using Touch ID or via your Apple Watch by double clicking the side button.

I LOVE this feature. While you can use the app switcher to toggle through your apps, theres a much quicker way to move from one app to the next. Simply swipe left or right on the Home bar at the bottom of the iPhones screen and youll progress forwards or backward in the line of apps youve recently opened.
Travel With Apple Pay
If you’re traveling internationally any time soon, I highly recommend enabling contactless payments on a mobile device and trying it out a few times to get the hang of it before you leave. In countries where contactless payment readers are available, using a contactless payment type is often the norm. You might feel much more welcome if you pay like a local.
Keep in mind that a country doesn’t have to be on Apple’s list of supported places in order for Apple Pay to work as a contactless payment type there. Being on the list simply means credit and debit cards from banks in that country will work in the Apple Wallet app. For example, Croatia isn’t on the list , but the US is. If you’re Croatian with a local bank card, you can’t enter your card into Apple Wallet and therefore can’t use it for Apple Pay. However, if you have an American-issued bank card in Apple Wallet, you can use it in Croatia anywhere that accepts contactless payments.
Additionally, a contactless reader doesn’t have to have an Apple Pay logo to work. It merely needs one of the many supported contactless logos.

Check Your Transaction History
When you tap a card in Wallet, you see the latest transactions for each credit, debit, or prepaid card, including Apple Cash.* You also see the latest transactions for transit cards. Depending on your bank or card issuer, you might see only transactions made from your device. Or you might see all transactions made from your credit or debit card account, including all Apple Pay devices and your physical card.
If you’ve set up your Apple Watch with Apple Pay, you can check your transaction history in the Watch app on your iPhone. In the Watch app, just tap Wallet & Apple Pay, tap your card, and tap the Transactions tab.
Some banks or issuers provide only initial authorization amounts to Wallet, which might be different from the final transaction amount. Depending on your bank or issuer, you might see different transaction amounts from locations such as restaurants, gas service stations, hotels, and car rental companies. Always refer to the credit or debit card statement from your bank or issuer for final transaction details.
If a transaction was declined, contact your bank or issuer for help.
