Charge Your iPhone 12 Without Buying A New Charger-How To-Tutorial

The rear-camera systems are the other big reason why you’d want to upgrade to iPhone 13 from the iPhone 12 Apple improved them both considerably.

The iPhone 13 mini and iPhone 13 have the exact same dual camera system, consisting of wide and ultra-wide lenses, but Apple gave them a significantly larger sensor and better optical image stabilization the main result is that each is better at capturing detail in low-light situations.

The bigger upgrade is with the “Pro” line. The iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max now have the exact same triple-camera system and it’s a big improvement over their predecessors. The wide lens has a much bigger sensor, the ultra-wide lenses has a wider aperture , and telephoto with more optical zoom .

The result is that the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max are significantly better low-light shooters and they have an exclusive feature macro photography where when you get close to a subject , it automatically switches to the ultra-wide lens while keeping the same frame and keeping the same focus. It’s fun!

What Are The Tradeoffs With The iPhone 13 Mini

The only tradeoff with the iPhone 13 mini is how fast it’s able to charge over MagSafe. Just like last year’s iPhone 12 mini, the iPhone 13 mini charges a little slower over MagSafe compared to other iPhone 13 models. It charges at a max of 12-watts instead of 15-watts.

The reasoning is that the iPhone 13 mini has a smaller battery and Apple likely doesn’t want to risk overheating. Also, Apple likely believes that most iPhone 13 mini users likely won’t notice the drop off in speed because the smaller battery fills up quickly and it’s still much faster that the he max 7.5-watts speed that all iPhones can pull from a Qi-based wireless charger.

Aside from MagSafe charging speeds, screen size and battery life, the iPhone 13 mini has all the exact same features as the iPhone 13.

The Best Dual iPhone/ipad Chargers

But the amperage rating is only a measure of the chargers maximum capability. The actual amperage is determined by the load . According to Steve Sandler, founder and chief technical officer of the electronics analysis company AEi Systems, modern battery-powered electronics have a lot of complexity between the charger and the battery, including battery-charging circuits within the device and battery-protection circuits in the lithium-ion battery itself.

These circuits are designed to manage the flow of electricity to the battery, and if the circuits inside the iPhone were designed to tolerate 1 amp, but are routinely exposed to 2 amps, that could stress the system over time.

“Even though you may not instantaneously say, ‘Wow, I just destroyed my battery!’ you may limit its life over the long term,” Sandler says, “but you wouldn’t know for a year or more.”

Our advice: Since Apple claims compatibility between the iPad charger and iPhone, pay for AppleCare and charge your devices with the biggest wall chargers you have. If your battery degrades severely after the first year, make Apple give you a new one.

iPhone 13 Pro Max Capable Of Faster Charging At Up To 27w Speeds

Despite not being advertised by Apple, the iPhone 13 Pro Max is capable of faster charging at up to 27W speeds when connected to a 30W or higher USB-C power adapter, according to testing conducted by ChargerLAB. For comparison, the iPhone 12 Pro Max is capable of charging at up to around 21W to 22W speeds with an equivalent power adapter.

It’s worth noting that the iPhone 13 Pro Max does not sustain peak 27W power for the entire charging cycle due to heat considerations, but the device should still charge slightly faster than the iPhone 12 Pro Max overall.

Apple no longer includes a charger in the box with new iPhones, but it does sell a 30W USB-C power adapter for $49 for users who want to charge their iPhone 13 Pro Max as quickly as possible in light of this discovery.

Update: ChargerLAB has informed MacRumors that the smaller iPhone 13 Pro achieved max charging speeds of 23W in its testing.

Use Magsafe Battery Pack

Apples official MagSafe Battery Pack comes at a premium price of $99 and it works like a wireless power bank. The MagSafe battery starts charging the iPhone automatically as you snap it on the back of your iPhone. Similar to Apples 5W charger, the battery pack charges the iPhone at 5W when on the go.

When plugged into a 20W or higher power adapter, the battery pack can simultaneously charge the iPhone at max 15W via passthrough charging.

MagSafe Battery Pack comes in handy as you can easily carry it in your pocket or bag on an adventurous trip. Alternatively, a power bank with PD charging would be a better and cheaper solution.

Use Qi Wireless Charger

You can use an existing Qi-certified wireless charger or charging pad to wirelessly charge your iPhone 13 with speeds up to 7.5 watts. A lot of these chargers are available from brands such as Mophie, Belkin, Otterbox, and even at Apple stores.

The Largest Oled On An iPhone

All iPhone 12s come with Retina XDR OLED screens, starting with the mini and ending with the Max. This year the Pro Max packs an even bigger display within the same body size as the 11 Pro Max.

So, the iPhone 12 Pro Max employs a 6.7″ OLED screen of 1,284 x 2,778 pixels or 458ppi . It is better-protected courtesy of the new Ceramic Shield, and there are no curved edges whatsoever.

The notch is here to stay, the same size, too. Due to the 12 Pro Max’s relatively big screen, though, the cutout looks smaller here.

The Super Retina XDR OLED screen supports HDR10 and Dolby Vision content. Like the iPhones before the 12th generation, this one also comes with True Tone color tuning, Wide Color support, and it has the Haptic Touch feature providing high-quality touch feedback.

The screen works at a 60Hz refresh rate. Unfortunately, the rumored ProMotion feature didn’t happen, and even the most expensive iPhones are stuck to a 60Hz refresh rate at the end of 2020. C’mon, Apple! Who decided 5G would be the better feature?!

At least the capacitive layer works with a touch sampling rate of 120Hz, making the iPhone display very responsive.

Apple advertises 800 nits of max brightness on the iPhone 12 Pro display and 600 nits for the iPhone 12’s. Both phones offer peak brightness of up to 1,200 nits.

There is no maximum auto boost on any iPhone, though you’d never miss that with such a bright screen.

The minimum brightness is impressively low at 2 nits.

Apple has said rules forcing connectors to conform to one type could deter innovation, create a mountain of electronic waste and irk consumers.

The new iPhones will have improved battery life.

Regular Old Charging Bricks

5 Ways to Charge iPhone 12/12 Pro Without the Charger In the Box

The easiest, cheapest, and most straightforward solution to this problem Apple arbitrarily created is to just buy a USB-C charging brick. That is, a little piece of plastic that you plug into a power outlet with a USB-C port for that special Lightning to USB-C cable you got with your new iPhone 12.

These are not difficult to acquire, as you might imagine. Apple sells one on its online store for $19. That one will more than likely do just fine for a majority of people. There’s nothing fancy about it, but we’re talking about charging a phone, not launching a Space Shuttle. You might as well just get what works.

If you’re inclined to get a little more advanced, however, brands like Anker and Aukey produce third-party charging bricks that come with multiple ports. You just need to spend more money to get them. This one from Aukey has both USB-C and old USB ports on it for $46, making it compatible with any Lightning cable you own. For about the same price, Anker has one with two USB-C connections on it if you really want a head start on the future.

Why Is Apple Selling iPhone 12 Without A Charger

I think this is a two-fold answer. I think some of this is about saving Apple money. Not money on manufacturing so much, though, as money on shipping. Apple isn’t just removing the chargers and headphones from iPhone boxes it’s actually shrinking the boxes themselves.

And this is where Apple’s economic needs and environmental messaging shake hands. Because smaller boxes mean that more iPhones can be packed into shipping pallets. More iPhones per pallet means more iPhones per flight. More iPhones per flight means fewer overall cargo flights. This not only reduces Apple’s shipping bill, but it also brings down its overall carbon footprint.

While it’s easy to take a fully cynical view of Apple’s environmental stances, the fact of the matter is that the company continues to make these environmentally-friendly moves. But the key here is that they don’t have to do it. Nothing is requiring Apple to be more environmentally friendly. Yet it is. It’s hard work, and it costs Apple not a little money to do things like go carbon neutral at its facilities.

So yeah, there are cynical business reasons to remove the chargers. Of course. But the amount of e-waste these components produce is no joke. Apple’s Lisa Jackson said this move is the equivalent of removing some 450,000 cars from the road every year. That isn’t nothing, even if it kind of sucks for people who need a charging brick.

Do You Want To Charge Wirelessly As Well

You can charge your iPhone 13 wirelessly by simply placing your device on the charger.. No hassle with cables. Choose a wireless charging dock and charge your Apple Watch and/or AirPods at the same time. You can wirelessly charge your iPhone 13 extra fast with a 15W Apple MagSafe charger. You attach this charger to your iPhone via the magnet. It’ll charge your device up to 30% in half an hour. Without fast charging, this amount of time will only get you 20%.
